Animals at The Zoo

I might as well have been at a taxidermy museum. The butterflies were probably the most exciting thing at the zoo.

With what we pay to get into this place, you would think the animals would do SOMETHING.
I would, of course, prefer to see some natural predation and/​or feeding/​attacking — but I would settle for them just being AWAKE.

The last time I visited the zoo I was blessed with the sight of the bears in the NW Trail exhibit frolicking around their better than mediocre enclosure. Way cute — I was lucky enough to see this when they were little cubbies too. I also got to see one of them jump into their little river thingy and catch himself a fish, munch it down and then give himself a bath leaning up against the glass. The best part was, of course, the shrieks of delight coming from me — I mean the little kids.
The time before was the piece d’resistance: We wander up on the gorilla’s; they were lounging, doing their little gorilla thing… la dee da, hoody, woody. You know the drill. Then the one who was closest to the glass (yay) puked in his hand, gave it an inquisitive sniff and then lapped it back up. The best thing, of course, were the shrieks of disgust coming from all the «normal» moms, second best were the guffaws coming from my party and the looks we got for it.
On this same trip, we saw the baby tiger. She was cute, blah, blah, blah. I much preferred the puking primate.
