Connie has been doing my hair since I moved to Seattle in 2005. She is as good as it gets. I tell her to do what she wants, and she never disappoints. Good cut, good color. Thanks Connie!

Just had my first cut done here by Young-Sook, who came highly highly recommended from friends. They were RIGHT. YS is truly outstanding – she knows her hair, her styling, the trends, what will look good for your face, what works for your age/personality. For the first time in ever, I actually have an amazing haircut that is hip but doesn’t require a lot of fancy styling(I told her I barely even blowdry my hair much less anything else so I needed something easy) but that can give my otherwise fine and usually limp hair some body/movement. Aside from the multiple recommendations I got from some of the pickiest friends I have(picky when it comes to how they like their hair), this is how I know she’s the real deal: after the cut was done, she did a little blowdry so my hair wouldn’t be wet still from the shampoo, but she did no other special styling nor did she put any product in my hair(I told her I don’t like to use it much), and STILL the cut looked terrific all on its own. Plus, when I got home, I brushed my hair out thoroughly just to see what it would look like after I messed with it, and STILL the cut looked terrific – as in I am not going to experience that let down of not ever being able to get my hair to look the way it did because of whatever voodoo the stylist did to it – as in, so THAT’S what a stellar haircut is like! It’s very rare to find someone in today’s world who is not just doing a job to get by(hey, I’m right there with those people so no judgment here), but who is instead doing a job to get by AND is a master at their craft, even still striving to improve. YS is the rare bird. I pretty much expect her to get kidnapped by some celebrity salon some day immediately, at which point I will deflate in bad-hair misery. But until then, I am saving up all my $$ to direct deposit into Young-Sook’s account so I can finally enjoy me some badass hair days.

I’ve been going to Loretta Vong at Amanda’s for years now, and she’s the best stylist/colorist I’ve ever had. Her work is absolutely consistent; I’ve never left there dissatisfied. She really listens, and she knows her stuff. I’ve had hairdressers who were always pressuring me to buy expensive products, or who ignored what I wanted & did what they wanted, or who got it wrong & didn’t care enough to make it right. Not Loretta — she is a real professional, & you’ll be happy when you leave. Plus, she’s fun & easy to talk to. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment now!

Amanda is awesome. I love the way she cuts and colors my hair — and she is creative with suggesting new ideas to fit my face. After a new cut, she teaches me how to style it as well. I have been in the hospital for a long period of time and she even came to my room to cut and color my hair. She is a talented and thoughtful person.

Ok what they say about Amanda, so true, the woman is magic with scissors! She really knows about hair intuitively and she’s *AMAZING*! I was at the salon next door for their opening day celebration, and they told me to swing by Amanda’s for a free hair styling. I thought, sure, why not! When Amanda saw my hair she told me she wanted to «fix it for me», she said my hair was too thick and she wanted to cut it and thin it out so that it would look better. I tried to tell her I just wanted the hair styling, but she was set on fixing my hair. I was a bit nervous as I’d just had my hair cut 2 weeks earlier at Sasson Salon and am trying to grow my hair out. But Amanda totally knows what she was talking about and I came out of her salon looking 100 times better than I did when I walked in. Almost a week later I was still getting compliments on my hair!!! Since then I have been back to see Amanda many times and have always left thrilled with my hair. Amanda has been able to do wonders with my hair like no other hair dresser I have ever been to! The décor is super cute also, with lots of Marilyn Monroe photos

Amanda is great. You give her an idea and she just makes it work. Her cuts grow out beautifully. Nice and relaxed salon, good prices too. Highly recommend.

Amanda rescued me from bad hair two years ago and I haven’t looked back since. She’s a genius with scissors. Every haircut has grown out beautifully. I have even gone 8 – 10 weeks between hair cuts and my hair magically still looks great. I try not to go too long without getting a cut & color but when I have to(due to travel or whatever), I don’t worry about it with my hair in Amanda’s hands. She also does a beautiful job with color. She will assess you and provide a color consultation that works beautifully with your skin tone and style. Her rates are also very reasonable. Her salon is in Laurelhurst and there is ample parking in the back. It’s also easily accessible via bus.

I have always been hesitant to try out new salons because I love my hair and am always afraid someone will mess it up. At this salon my fears became reality. I watched as she cut inch after inch of my hair. I pushed aside my fears and decided to trust her, which was a huge mistake. While blow drying my hair after washing I noticed it definitely did not look like it was supposed to(I got the generic haircut seen on most 20-somethings). I tried straightening it and realized she had given me a modern day mullet. The only remedy is to either braid it or put it up, curling worked alright as well. I called on the weekend and the stylist was not available. I have never been in this position so I asked her what I should do. She agreed that I should ask for a refund. I did exactly this. My stylist responded by saying I was personally attacking her, that she has never had a complaint before(which I know to be untrue), and that I was going to have bad karma. Then she tried to put the blame on me saying I didn’t know what I wanted and I didn’t know how to style my hair. She further tried to make me feel horrible because I wanted my money back and the only reason I was complaining was because I was money hungry. At one point she tried to tell me I was raised improperly. She said she would give me ½ of what I paid and finally gave in and gave me a full refund(of course this was after an 11min conversation). I am a very cool headed individual and hate confrontation. I normally will just let issues ride themselves out because I would rather not make a fuss.
