Just like it’s Big Brother on Capitol Hill, the 8oz Burger in Ballard offers up great burgers and brews! This one is located towards the end of all the bars and restaurants on Market Ave, but that also means finding parking is much easier. And this location is closer to me! It’s a 2 in 1 bonus! We came in during Happy Hour on a sunny, warm, late-spring day, so they had the windows wide open. We sat at the bar and were promptly greeted with the menus. I completely ordered off the Happy hour menu. I ordered 2 sliders, Brussels Sprouts with pancetta, and bone marrow. My hubs ordered The Pike Burger off the regular menu. I love consistency, so what I would expect at the Cap Hill location, I got at the Ballard location! The Brussels Sprouts were perfectly roasted and the pancetta added a hint of saltiness. The sliders were just enough to keep my hunger pangs away. I was looking forward to the bone marrow, but it was my least favorite, I should have asked for them to omit the demi glaze, I thought it was too over-powering of a flavor. They also offer a great selection of liquors and beers on tap.

Had the Market St burger. Best burger I’ve had in Seattle. Every single ingredient on point. Thick juicy nicely seasoned burger, perfect poached egg, tasty hollandaise sauce, so so yummy. Everything tastes fresh, well sourced, and well made. My fiancée, who usually doesn’t feel too good after even slightly greasy food, felt great after eating. A bit expensive($ 15 for a small but thick burger) and a bit of a wait, but oh so worth it. Great ciders too. Only suggestions: Add an inventive lamb burger like Uneeda Burger or Lunchbox Labs, my two other favorite burger places in the city. Lower the music volume. Otherwise, keep up the great work!

Okay, so the burgers are good. The cocktails and the beers are good too. But, oh my, those PBJ shakes!!! It’s worth going for those alone! If you don’t have a kid with you as an excuse, ask to borrow someone else’s while you order, then give the offspring back to the parents quick and enjoy two to yourself!

**This review was conducted on a delivery order via Über Eats** Condition upon delivery/Packaging to go: 5⁄5 — nice job guys! We ordered 2 lettuce wrapped burgers rather than opting for buns, plus the Brussels sprouts. Everything was in perfect condition(and hot) as if we had just received it in the restaurant. Food: 5⁄5 — great flavors! Burssel sprouts 5⁄5 — well executed with just enough char on the outside, tender but still a little crunchy. The Prosciutto is diced a little bit too finely for the size of the sprouts, but the little nuggets of salty pork goodness were fantastic. The 8oz 5⁄5 — Perfectly cooked! Truffle is a really strong flavor and often overused, but they struck the perfect balance of flavor in the truffle aioli, bacon, cheddar, onion, and balsamic. I added avocado because i LOVE avocado, but it was overwhelmed by the other flavors so don’t opt for it with this one. The Jackson 4⁄5 — Perfectly cooked! This was a good, slightly smoky burger, a little too sweet. I couldn’t really taste the pork belly because the BBQ sauce was a little too overpowering, but would definitely order again with sauce on the side.

The location has a cool vibe, a little different than the Cap Hill location which I’ve been to many times. The 8 oz burger was good. The fries were a bit undercooked. Loved the shishito peppers, the root beer on tap was delicious. Service was friendly. Prices are on the high end, even on happy hour. A burger and fries, the peppers, and a root beer was $ 20 with happy hour pricing before tip. On regular pricing, it would have been $ 28 before tip. I’ll definitely be back but probably only during happy hour.

Burgers are good but a little too gourmet for my taste. I prefer my burgers with simple ingredients and bold flavors. My kids had a hard time ordering as the basic cheeseburger wasn’t really basic unless you asked to have everything on the side. The shakes were awesome but about half the size we expected for the price. The fries were really good too. The family loved the atmosphere at the Ballard location. Its great if you’re trying to impress a date or maybe buying dinner for a client. Definitely not a place you just take a young family of 5 for dinner though the wife and I thought we’d be back for happy hour.

Place is alright. Beer selection is limited. Only restaurant I know to charge extra if you want to have any burger vegetarian style. Guess you pay since burgers aren’t supposed to be eaten vegetarian. For the brave ones, try the pike with habenaro jam. Would give 1 star but hostess would good enough to give us coupons for next time. Anyone want it?

So, we’ve been to the 8oz in Capitol Hill and it was nothing special. Burger was fine, albeit expensive, but it was covered in so much sauce that the bun got super soggy. Fast forward to tonight and we decide to walk across the street to the one in Ballard to give it another shot. It’s about 8:30p on a Saturday and an 80 degree day, but no tables/chairs are set up on the patio. There are three open tables inside, and another being cleared off, yet somehow it was going to be a 20 minute wait to get seated. Seriously? I’ve worked in restaurants before so I know all about not over seating sections, but this place is tiny and most people looked like they already had food. After giving her a weird look, we ended up just leaving and walking over to Lil Woody’s to get burgers with no wait.

Really enjoyed my burger. The habanero jam was really flavorful and had great heat. The truffle garlic fries were AMAZING. Normally I’m not a huge fan of truffle fries because I find them too oily, but these had a mild truffle flavor and lots of fresh garlic chunks. Service was perfect.

One of my fav burgers in Seattle for sure! The bun is super soft and chewy(that’s what’s she said? Maybe not.) Meats legit, fries bomb, great all around. They know how to do burgers. Nom sayin?

If you’re looking for a great burger, you can’t do much better than 8oz Burger & Co. The restaurant has a cool and casual«hipster cowboy» type of vibe. Came on a Friday night and was seated right away. Ordered the Classic and the special Bone Marrow Butter Burger, plus truffle fries, sweet potato tots and cider. Burgers were excellent, cooked to a perfect medium rare. The flavor of the hamburger is in the meat, making these burgers worth the extra couple of dollars over other burger joints. I’ll say that there wasn’t that much of a difference taste wise between the $ 11 Classic Burger and the $ 18 Bone Marrow Butter Burger. Both had a rich and buttery taste. The fries and sweet potato tots were also excellent. However I will point out that the sweet potato fries have a cinnamon sugar powder that makes them dessert like. If you’re looking for savory, stick to the fries. Yes, 8oz Burger & Co is slightly more expensive than the normal burger joint. But even at a fast food restaurant you’d be hard pressed to find a decent burger and fries for under $ 10.00. A few more bucks for an outstanding burger is totally worth the price.

Ray: I got an email from Josh last Thursday saying he would like to try the link he attached for dinner. I checked it out to find it was the 8oz Burger and Co. on Market Street in Ballard. Sounded good to me! When we got to Ballard, and close to the restaurant, we started looking for parking. We drove right by the place, it looked pretty nice from the outside. We parked around the block and headed on in. It was a seat-yourself kinda deal when we arrived, so we picked a nice centrally located table. We were pretty near the bar, but still in the restaurant. Our waitress arrived promptly, took out beer orders and dropped off the menus. They had quite an assortment of burgers to choose from. They all sounded so good, I was having a hard time not just ordering them all… The bar tender came by to talk to us and gave two word descriptions of each burger to help us weed through all the information. That made it way easier for me to decide, especially when I asked which was his favorite. He named two and I ordered the 2nd one he mentioned, the Madison. The burgers arrived in short time, wonderfully and simply plated. It was just a burger on a small round plate. Simple and beautiful. I was impressed. I cut the burger in half to see that it was cooked to a perfect medium, just as I ordered. I hate burgers that are really meat loaf sandwiches. This was not that. It was delicious and juicy, possibly the best burger I ever had. I must say that the atmosphere was great, the service perfect, the food was very tasty — perfectly cooked. If you like hamburgers you will love the 8 oz Burger and Co. They are in the business of hamburgers and hamburgers are their business. Five stars for 8oz Burger and Co. I wanna go back! Josh: Last Thursday we made our weary way back into Ballard for a visit to the 8oz Burger and Co. for dinner. I’d never been there before, and actually had only just discovered this place even existed. They have a very recognizable exterior, the place is kinda hard to miss, I don’t know why I didn’t notice it earlier. We walked into the warmly wooden dining room and were seated near the bar. The inside of this place is really attractive and inviting. They have a neat light fixture(is it a chandelier?) that had old-school type light bulbs and rope and meat hooks. Pretty cool. The hostess gave us menus and water, and the waiter wasn’t far behind. The menu was a bit of a challenge, and really the only complaint I have with this place. Everything looks pretty good, but there’s a few ingredients listed that I had no idea what they were. This isn’t entirely uncommon, but it’s usually associated with higher-ended establishments, not necessarily burger places. I totally understand wanting to use exotic ingredients, but it would be nice to have a slightly dumbed-down descriptions of everything. I mean, what the hell is frise or watercress or cotija or demi glacé? I know this is just a symptom of my own ignorance, but still, I like a menu I can comprehend. I am, after all, a layman. This is where our awesome waiter came in so very handy. He just went down the menu with quick and fast descriptions for the burgers that put everything into perspective. There’s a bacon burger, bbq burger, mushroom burger, etc. They even have an eggs Benedict burger if you can believe it. I decided on the«Union» burger based off of the waiter’s recommendation. We also had an appetizer of deviled eggs and a side of fries. The eggs were outstanding. I love a good deviled egg, but this was really amazing. Then the burger came out, simply presented as a burger on a plate with nothing else. No garnish, no bullshit. Kinda refreshing. And it was really damn amazing. I could taste the individual ingredients of the burger, and it was juicy without soaking the bun. In fact, the bun was one of the best parts. I love a good bun! The waiter came over after I had dug into the burger a bit and asked if I was happy or pissed at him for the recommendation. I liked that dichotomy: happy or pissed. I was happy. Really happy, in fact. In spite of the complicated menu, I really have no issue giving them the full 5 stars. I loved this place.

My wife and I just moved to Ballard and for our first night dinner we walked across the street to 8oz Burger & Co since we have been talking about this place for the longest time and read so many reviews about it. Its around 7pm on a Saturday and the place is full but still managed to get a seat upon walk in. Everyone working here seemed friendly and very welcoming. Our waitress was very informative about the menu and her suggestions for first time guest. My wife got the The Market St. with Truffled Garlic Fries and a Chamomile Tea. Then I got the traditional 8oz with Kennebec Fries(which they ended up delivering my Truffled Garlic Fries by accident). We both got our burgers medium and ended up enjoying the flavor of the meat itself. The size of the burgers we got was about a diameter…so exactly what you see in the photos provided by everyone… Its built like a yuppy gourmet burger. So with both our fancy small burgers, Truffle Garlic Fries, and my wifes Tea all added up to $ 41 and change(**tax included)…for the amount of hype this place is given doesn’t match with the price charged IMO. When it comes to burgers, my wife and I are very traditional in how burgers are made. We don’t mind the grass fed, hormone free, etc types of meat but when the portion feels like a kids burger at $ 15 sandwich alone… then you kinda feel like this would be a place to go to every once in a while. Which kinda blows considering we live right across the street and hoping we would be able to make this our«go to» when we both had a busy day from work. Thankfully there are other great burger joints on Market St. that provide the same great taste at a much lower cost. I think the only time we will come back here is if our friends and family come visit and want to try this place for the first time. Happy Eats Everyone!

Absolutely love this places burgers and shakes, but it is always a little more expensive than I feel it should be. And even when it’s crowded, service tends to be a little sluggish and unfriendly, even though our orders came out fast, it took forever to even order our drinks and even longer for them to take our main orders and even longer just to get the check. I love this places food, I would recommend the Mac and cheese appetizer w/added prosciutto and the market street burger! I also LOVED the green tea Nutella milkshake. But if you go be prepared for the price and time commitment!

I’m hesitant to give this a solid 5 stars, so lets call this a 4.8. **The reasons for not awarding a 5 star rating are pretty minor; plus this was my first visit, and I prefer to have an average of a few visits before a 5-star is issued. The décor was nice and the dining room and bathrooms were very clean. The farm-y pictures on the wall were a bit odd to me, as they could have used something else to get the aesthetic they’re going for, but that’s just my opinion. It’s weird to me to see pictures of cows in their natural setting when cows are on the menu… But I digress. Considering that it was late lunchtime, and the dining area was barely half full, it took a long time to receive our orders. My husband was on his third coke before our food arrived, and he had been nursing them. The menu does give a warning about the turnaround time being 15 minutes for well done burgers, so it’s possible the kitchen was already backed up when we got there. Plus, it looks like the kitchen is pretty small to begin with, so the average time for anything might just be long. However, once the food did arrive, the long wait was forgotten as the burgers were outstanding. I ordered the Market Street with the veggie patty and no pancetta. Incredible. I told my husband it was like the sex scene from Cold Mountain was happening in my mouth. He was grossed out by this, but believe me, it was like all the richest, most divine ingredients were having an end of days type orgy in my mouth. This was by far the most decadent, delicious burger I’ve ever had. Every component was utterly perfect. I want saffron hollandaise on everything now. This burger has ruined me. On the downside, we had opted for the truffled garlic fries to share. They were good, but the smell was incredibly overpowering and took away from the food-sex happening from my burger. I’m not someone who’s overly sensitive, so it is odd to me that the smell was so off-putting. Next time we’ll be getting the regular fries instead. When we left, my husband noticed that we’d been charged $ 1 for the veggie burger substitution. I didn’t see this on the menu; other subs were listed, but not subbing a veg for meat. Frankly, I didn’t really care one way or another because it was certainly worth every penny. :

You get what you pay for ladies and gentlemen. The price here is quit exorbitant however consider this… Absolutely this place lands in my top 3 burger joints in the city. Explosion of flavor in every bite. Fries do not come with these burgers as we might have become accustomed to. Even as a side order it’s a pretty small portion. But the milk shakes make up for it hands down. The service was excellent. I like how our server was very helpful in the selection process as she seemed to really know about the quality of food and where it came from. Be proud of that.

This place is legit! I loved my burger. My buddy and I ordered the Jackson. Delicious… but as I recall, the bun stole the show. Fries were just ok… kinda stingy on them. My kids love this place so I’m pretty sure I will be returning.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars so bad but at the very end of our visit when we were trying to pay and leave, the server was no where in sight for a good 15 minutes. But to the food, to the food. And all I can say is that I loved it. Went out with a party of 3 and had a variety of things on our table within 15 to 20 minutes which I thought was great. Poutine was awesome and the fried egg topped it off nice. We also ordered bone marrow, garlic truffle fries and 2 burgers, the Pike(with some super tasty but super spicy jelly! Delicious!) and just a Classic. Both were spot on and couldn’t have been cooked nicer. What was a night to just grab a shake turned into a great bite of food. My friends who’ve just moved here are definitely gonna go back and try some more dishes to see if it wasn’t a fluke. And finally the décor. Pretty hipster is all I gotta say about that. Not that I’m complaining of course, these are my kind of places. Worth a visit or two or three for sure.

Expensive but by far the best burgers I’ve ever tried. I had the pike and it was so full of flavor in every bite! Also the bread tasted like a Hawaiian roll which we all know is the shit. The side of truffle fries and Brussels sprouts were amazing too. My partner had the kimchi burger and for me personally the pork belly flavor was too over powering and fatty but they did make the pork belly good, it was super tender. This place is very expensive for a burger joint so expect each meal to be about 20 per person.

What you need to know: Literally one of, if not THE best burger I have had. And I am dead serious about my burgers. We also had the garlic fries and broccolini, which were killer! The service has always been fantastic, quick, and friendly. It’s a great place in the summer because we can bring our dog and sit on the patio. I recommend it highly. The price for burgers is higher, but the quality is worth it.
