A must try in NYC… Been all over the city & found it @ the beach, yummo«Oyster Po Boy». Toasted bun, homemade mayo & loads more flavour than any processed crap from a ‘Chain’… Will try a ‘Coconut Banana’ just to bust the belly…

When you don’t know what you need but you have a craving, there is a good chance it’s a frozen banana at MBATBB. I don’t think any desert could ever be better.

This spot is a breath of fresh air, even with that fantastic ocean breeze right next door(so to speak). If you’re that far down the Rockaways, you have a couple of options: Rippers or this area of little food counters. Rippers is a nightmare, but even if it wasn’t, this would be the obvious choice. I don’t know what the whole area at 96th street is called, so this review is also about the entire plaza. It’s so nice, you guys. For a beach spot? Wow. Usually beach rest areas’ floors look too terrifying to dream of being barefoot upon, they’re grimy, crowded, hot, and the only«dining» options are fries and large sodas. This is spacious, chill, there are a lot of food counters here(as I mentioned), and the bathroom is so much cleaner and well-stocked than I could possibly hope. ON A SATURDAY. I purchased a delicious frozen banana from the Motorboat and Big Banana counter, and it just really hit the spot. They have four varieties: plain, peanuts, bacon, and the works; I went with the classic peanut variety like I used to get at the zoo when I was a little kid. That banana gave me a true Marcel Proust moment. My memory lingered over the concrete walkways, holding hands with my grandpa, staring at the flamingos and baboons, chomping on that cold, salty, chocolatey banana. Yeah, I loved it.

Where have you been? All my life, all my life. Where have you been, all my life. Where have you been, all my life. Where have you been, all my life. Where have you been, all my life. Where do I even begin? Ever since I can remember, I’ve been going to Rocaway beach for nearly half of my life. Thing is, I have been going to the wrong place all along. ALLALONG. I dreaded 116st but went because the bus ride is so damn convenient. But ever since this past Sunday, I have a new place. 96st is clean, has a better crowd, everyone is a bit older, more calm. 96st is heaven compared to 116th. The food selection is so much better. Tacos, fresh fish burgers, grilled shrimp burgers, lobster rolls, crab rolls, pizza, wings, fresh juices, smoothies, etc. They have it all, everything in better taste They have better seating arrangements. They have a bar. It’s awesome. The staff is nice, not rude. The fish sandwich is delicious, heavenly. The fish is fried to perfection. Tastes fresh. The loaded fries are amazing. A must try for everyone! I don’t mind paying more, as long as the quality is better. I rather have quietness than rachetness. And trust me, you wont find rachetness at 96st. Cleaner bathrooms, with toilet paper! They have staff selling homemade fruit pops on the beach.

The Rockaways is not my favorite beach. Not by a mile, but this food stand makes a trip worthwhile. I tried the fish and shrimp po’boys and they both delivered. But, while I enjoyed the full flavor impact of the fish, I felt the shrimp was easier to tackle for lesser appetites and still tasty! If you are hungry though then go for the fish and leave satisfied. And, don’t forget to try their frozen banana. So delish!

Expensive food, no sides or drink… Smh Fish sandwich for like 10 bucks… I don’t care if the fish fried itself and danced the Mackeraina onto my plate, a smallish fish sandwich on a bun with a little bit of veg and sauce should not cost anywhere near that much. The taste was alright. Save your walet. FYI Cash only, ATM fees $ 2.50 #DeepSigh

Franny is absolutely right! The Frozen Banana is delicious. They sell them from a cart on the boardwalk. They take half a banana and keep dipping it in a quality chocolate to form a thick rich delicious chocolate coating. Try one!

I never expected to eat arguably one of the best fish sandwiches of my life when i looked at this joint. Everything was made fresh, the fish was juicy and flavorful, the sauce great and the bun was perfect. We also tried the grilled shrimp and cheese fries. both excellent as well. It was a little pricey for the portion size, but expected on the boardwalk. The biggest issue was the wait. wait to order, then wait to pick up. all-in-all about 20−30min. But hey, drink a beer and enjoy the sun for a while.

Fish sandwich = amazing. Really delicious chunk of fish, buttery bun, crunchy cabbage – perfect post-beach food. Lovely little eating area. Sorry, no more 45 minute waits for tacos(even though they are pretty awesome, too).

Skip the 25 people deep line at Rockaway Taco, and head to the Motorboat & Big Banana boardwalk concession stand for the sandwich version(also made by Rockaway Taco). Fish sandwich and Labatt’s Blue, that’s all you need to know. Prob the best food on the boardwalk.

On the Rockaway Boardwalk and hungry? Who wants to wait in line for Rockaway Taco(who doesn’t even have tacos on the menu?!) You have to visit Motorboat and the Big Banana, which is right next to it. The fish sandwich there is AMAZING! It’s on the slight pricey side at $ 7.50, but it’s totally worth it. The beautiful part is that they make their sandwiches fresh. They grill the hotdog bun for you. The bread the cod and deep fry it while you wait. And then they top it off with a mix of cabbage, pickled onions, and tartar sauce. The sandwich is massive! I only wish I had taken a picture of it before I devoured it. On a side note, my friend got the«big» banana. It was actually kinda small. The only thing holding the place from a 5 star rating.

It’s so great to have good food at the beach. I’ve only had their fish sandwich, but it was awesome and the service was quick! I hope it stays this good all summer.
