This is now my fave Chinese restaurant!!! Don’t be fooled by the outside appearance. The inside is pretty oriental décor. I had take out tonight, the food exceeded my expectations.

This place went out of business… and I’m not surprised.

Was in a chinese food craving bit that evening so we tried this place out. Got some usual fares, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, you know, the usual. First time here, and I was expecting the food to be a little on the spicy side, you know? a little bam! on some of the dishes, but no. Just regular chinese food. I’m sure you can ask for your food to be schezuan style, but since it was in the name, i kind of expected it. Yah, I know, i’m a little slow. Staff was friendly and the food is okay. Price was okay. Not sure if I’ll come back.

I used to like this place & recommend it to friends. They had a seafood dish(kung pao?) that I really liked. But on a Sunday afternoon about 2:30, when gf & I were famished & couldn’t find an open Asian restaurant anywhere in Seaside, we walked in, and even though the posted hours said they served lunch until 3:00, the employee rudely told us we could only get take out. Haven’t been back since.

I honestly never would have walked into this place if it wasn’t for Unilocal.I live very close and have driven by it a hundred times and never felt inclined to stop in. It’s located in a strip mall and doesn’t look like much from the outside. Boy, was I wrong! The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. I highly recommend trying the lemon chicken.

Went here on a Sunday night with my husband. The food was decent but the service was a bit lacking. Might have been because it was a Sunday night but they only seemed to have one waiter and he spent a lot of time chatting with another table instead of doing other things. Had to ask him to bring us water in the first place and then our glasses never got refilled. The food was just okay. Nothing spectacular compared to some other places I have eaten. My husband’s «spicy» dish was not spicy at all. We were not really impressed and will probably not go back.

I’ve been going to this place for a little over a year now. Not only do they have the best Chinese buffet but the dinner menu is absolutely the best Chinese food I’ve ever had hands down.

Since I’ve started my quest for good eats in Seaside, I’ve ordered from here 4 or 5 times. I have yet to be disappointed. Finally, decent Chinese food. Every time I’ve been here for take out, it never appears to be busy but they are definitely doing something right! I have yet to dine in here since they will deliever to the house, free of charge when I’m too lazy to go pick it up. They have some of the best Orange Chicken around. It’s crispy and not overly sweet. My son is fond of the Egg Foo Yung. I lean more toward the crispy string beans and chicken with broccoli. The mu sho is pretty tastey too. Last time we ordered, we gave the House Fried Rice a try. Another winner! . I have yet to try their lunch buffet during the week. It’s super cheap but I’m not a hugh buffet person anymore.

As good as Chinese food gets in Monterey. I frequent this place so often the server Andy asks me where I have been after a 2 week hiatus. Service is always prompt, courteous, and sometimes even mildly entertaining. It’s usually the server Andy or the owner’s wife who waits tables, and they are both super polite and will strike up conversations with patrons. Food. Zhajiang noodles, honey walnut shrimp, the pork ribs from lunch buffet, and the red bean tapioca dessert are just a few of my favorites. I could go on. Oh and the lunch buffet. Every weekday lunch. Good selection. Cheap. Delicious.

A relatively new authentic Chinese restaurant in Monterey, at least it is for me because it has been a few years since I returned to Monterey. I dined at the restaurant with my former Chinese instructors from the Defense Language Institute. They commented that this was about the only decent restaurant that serves Chinese cuisine — their recommendation was correct. We dined on the spicy egg plant, mushu pork, kun pao chicken, and winter melon soup. Authentic, good, and affordable — definitely worth considering a visit. If driving down Fremont Avenue, unless you carefully look for the restaurant, you would not notice it. Located in a somewhat dilapidated strip mall, from the outside, you would not even think twice about going to the restaurant, but once inside, you would be surprised at the décor. Resources have been expended to improve the furnishings — intricate wood carvings of dragons line the ceiling of restaurant in addition to the wooden gates throughout the establishment. For good authentic Chinese cuisine in the area, highly recommend the China Chili restaurant.

My boyfriend and I chose to try this place one day while driving by looking for something new to try. I am always looking for good Chinese food in the areas that I live. Being half-Chinese myself, I need authentic and good Chinese food to be impressed. AMAZINGFOOD!!! It was as good or better than the stuff I can get in San Francisco. They are pretty vegetarian friendly. If you ask for no meat in something they will do it! AMAZINGPRICES: You can get an entrée, fried rice or chow mien, fried wontons and an eggroll, and a bowl of soup for $ 3 + the cost of the entrée. HUGE servings. You get your moneys worth here! You can eat till you are about to burst and still have leftovers. Definitely worth going and trying. The building may look sketchy and run down on the outside, but inside is nice. Don’t judge this book by its cover, you’ll miss out on some of the best Chinese food in the Monterey area.

got the honey prawns and some rice and it was nothing less than awesome. However, my friend and i also got the short rib appetizer and it was overwhelmingly soaked in rice wine. I like rice wine don’t get me wrong, but it was a bit too much. So much so that the alcohol didn’t quite cook out and it brought down the flavor of the rib. BUT the main dish was absolutely delicious. Add some spice to it. It’s really sweet and needs some balance.

My first meal out since moving to Seaside! I chose this place based on Unilocal reviews on a Chinese food search. They’re pretty accurate. The servings here are RIDICULOUS! The combo meals come with a huge bowl of soup, instead of the small cup I’m accustomed to, and the portions on the entrees are larger than life. I got stuffed and took home lunch for the next day. Next time I’m craving Chinese food, I’ll be hesitant to try someplace new!

Service is always excellent and the waiter Andy is very helpful. Recently, I find out we can order Asian style Large steam Pork Buns and Veggie Buns to go, however, they only made the fresh buns twice a month and you must reserve in advance, only $ 1 each. Minimum order is 10 and they are great for breakfast or snacks.

Great customer service. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had the honey pecan shrimp and chicken lettuce cups. Both were tasty. One more dish would have rounded out the meal and made it a bit more filling.

Amazing Hot and Sour Soup. Excellent General Chicken. Huge portions, friendly service. The only negative is that they do not have free soft drink refills. Looks questionable from the outside, however inside is pleasant and the food is authentic. I also suggest ordering up the Dong An Chicken.

Holy Poop Balls! I’ve never wanted to step foot in this place ever since I was a little child in the 831 but I was messing around on Unilocal today and it popped up so I clicked on it and read some reviews. I had no idea people actually went to this restaurant. I hit up Han Kook, the Korean Market at least once a month and I’ve never seen a soul in there. When I read all these reviews… I thought maybe these people have some gnarly taste or aren’t well traveled and have only had Chinese in the 831 so don’t know better(I know that is a pretty awful thing to say) so I had to go try them… today. I got my favorite dish… I’ve been craving it lately and had it from 4 local restaurants in the last 4 weeks. HK Style chowmein!!! Not all Chinese Restaurants even carry this lovely crispy and savory entrée but China Chili did(on the back of their to-go menu under«noodles») and for a couple bucks less than most places. More reason to try theirs… Combination HK Style Chowmein(chicken, squid, plum large shrimp and BBQ pork) for only $ 7.95! They separated the noodles from the sauce in 2 take-out containers which was very nice of them although not necessary since this is one of the few noodle dishes out there where it’s okay for the noodles to get soggy. When served the noddles in the middle of the dish get soggy from the suace and the noddles on the outer edges stay crispy which is a great balance and create a lovely texture in your mouth. This place is better than a couple of the local Chinese Restuarants… not too salty, noodles are nice and thin and fried WITHGREENONIONS. Hope it wasn’t a mistake but there were green onions bits in the fried noodles which added a lovely touch. I’m sotked other Unilocalers had the balls to try this place out. They are right too… in regards to the beautiful ornate décor inside. I look forward to trying more of their menu items in the near future. The place was empty when I went around 8pm but they have to be doing okay in this economy to stay open because this place is huge and rent must be a ton.

This place has become a fast favorite since I tried it last week! Great prices and delicious food. The owner is from the bay area(figured hah) and is a cool guy as well as a great chef. The lunch buffet is $ 6.99 and is consistently delicious. Don’t be fooled by the way it looks outside. The food is amazing. Looking forward to trying things off the menu. The staff are friendly, efficient, and it’s a great place to practice your Mandarin :)

Okay, so a $ 6.99 lunch buffet is awesome in itself, no matter what the quality of the food is. I regret living in the area so long and never giving this place a chance. Though the outside looks totally janky, the inside looks like a decent sit down Chinese restaurant with lots of yummy food inside. Though there weren’t as many items as Grand Buffet down the street, the items were always fresh and tasty. My only complaint was that the chicken wasn’t deboned, which made it a pain in the ass to eat.
