Great place to stop to buy cheap books. There are a lot of new items and great choices. Also books on tape. Paperbacks and hardbacks, coffee table books and more. Fiction and non-fiction choices galore. I always pick up a few items I’ve been looking for, very happy with the prices and selection, and a good spot to browse.

One thing I always love about visiting Seaside is the Outlet Mall. North Bend and the Supermall once housed Book Warehouse locations and those went away about 3 – 4 years ago. I loved having a book store in the mall, and I loved even more having an outlet book store where you can find organized paperbacks for $ 2.99 each. And at Buy 3, Get the 4th Free deals. So, like many things, these stores were once a standard staple of my mall outings in my youth and now they’ve become endangered. Upon this visit, having not visited a Book Warehouse in about 5 years, I didn’t know what to expect. They were stocked wall to wall with deals on books. And again, the irritation kicks in when you find a book you bought new about 9 months ago for $ 20 on their shelf for $ 4.99. The girl working was friendly, greeted me, offered help and then left me to browse at my leisure. I found some cool finds I didn’t know existed(Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Death Proof’ screenplay for $ 3.99!). Not too much to say other than the store is clean, organized, and has some solid buys. And I miss having these outlet bookstores around because paying $ 10 – 20 for a book has often prevented me from buying as many books as I’d ideally like to. Book Warehouse made it so I could buy new books in abundance. I miss having that option. If you’re in Seaside, check it out. You likely won’t find a SPECIFIC title but I bet you’ll find a title you let slip past you or a deal you can’t pass up. And Tuesdays are Senior Tuesdays! 10% off.

What bookstore doesn’t have Steinbeck? This one doesn’t! I walked in and the two employees were so busy talking to each other I wasn’t acknowledged. I looked around and thought I’d buy a cookie cookbook. Not once did anyone say can I help you or kiss my ass. I will go to Godfathers in Astoria… why should I spend any money here?!? And I didn’t!!! And I couldn’t find a cookie cookbook either… I should have read the Unilocal reviews… Shame on me!

If you want to support a local bookstore, then head on down to Beach Books for a well curated selection and a comfy place to browse. If you are looking for a deal on a good beach read, then Book Warehouse is a very good option. But, as I used to tell my kids when they were young, «You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit.» Meaning, they don’t have a complete collection of anything and their business is sell off excess stock from publishers. So, don’t go in expecting to find copies of the latest best seller or über popular titles. Aside from that, it was a large store, well organized, and the employees were helpful. I had a couple items I was looking for walking in and they knew right away that the books weren’t in stock saving me time searching. It takes awhile for those kind of books to trickle down to their end of the retail chain. On the very positive side, excellent prices on new books, so the chances of finding something you like, and will want to keep, are quite good. It just may not be that thing you planned to pick up when you walked in the door.

Decent spot to pop in for gift ideas and when looking for a new read and undecided about what you really want. Not the place to go if you are in search for a particular title, though it is really cool when you find something from your«list» here. This is a link in a retail chain found in many outlet malls. Prices are pretty good and deeply discounted from the outrageous list prices the publishers assign to them. I will never understand the pricing structure for books. Now that these e-books are all of the rage, I wonder what knee jerk reaction the publishers will pull as far as pricing is considered? Will the loyal printed copy buyer get a break? I doubt it. Great selection of audio books on CD, and some non-book gift ideas here and there. Decent children’s selection. I do think the Lincoln City location is a bit larger. I know Lincoln City has an occult section, while this one does not. There may be some other minor stock differences as well. Staff here have always been friendly and helpful. They have an online newsletter that offers coupons as well. Discount Card for educators gets a modest discount with every sale. They also have a frequent shoppers punch card that is a nice touch for customer loyalty.

It’s like every other Book Warehouse… pretty good, though somewhat random selection. Decent prices on most books. They do have some children’s books in foreign languages. This is a good place to go for mass market books. If you want a more local flavor with cats running around the store, check out some of the other bookstores in town. This is just a chain.
