Yummy popovers. The menu tended a bit to the enforced healthy(no fries, baked chicken nuggets). I had the salad Nicoise w Lobster which was alright but overpriced at $ 25. Lacked the historic feel I expected from the description. Also was very bustling & busy, still a pretty hectic feel despite having reserved ahead.

It’s been a tradition to come for popovers when we’re in Bar Harbor. Went the other day for the first time in a few years. The pop overs were still fantastic but you only get one free if you order soup or salad. I had the seafood chowder which was very thin and had very little seafood along with a few pieces of potato. A bowl was really just a crock and cost over $ 15.00. 3 of our party had the lamb shepherds pie and liked it. One other had greens with chicken salad and said it was bland. We’ll go back for the pop overs and beverages but will save our $ for a better lunch elsewhere.

We were expecting museum-level quality food and were pleasantly surprised. Between us, we had a veggie wrap with good, fresh vegetables, a good sandwich with a yummy quinoa salad and of course the pop overs(which reminded us of Yorkshire pudding). Exceeded our expectations and fortified us for the long bike ride back to Bar Harbor.

Unorganized and rude. Told it would be a 50 minute wait. Had to ask for manager after getting no information from receptionist after 65 minutes. We should have cut our losses when another group came to the desk to complain that their meal order was inaccurate and couldn’t get the waitresses attention but we felt we had already committed so much time. But we left after the manager and waitstaff were rude after being seating after 90 minutes with no apologies or attempts to make any amends. Ruined our day in the park

The best location at the most affordable prices with organic, fresh food! You won’t regret it! Eat the popovers, drink their tea(or a blueberry mojito or beer), and contemplate the universe. We loved it!

Five stars for service! Excellent server who is a local and helped answer questions. Salads were very good. Popovers — first round was warm, not hot, so okay. Second round piping hot and very good! Make sure you get them piping hot! Tea is just average black tea, nothing special. Strawberry jam we really enjoyed and bought some at the gift shop to take home. Surprising the gift shop at Jordan’s pond is more expensive then the ones in town(Bar Harbor) including the state store. Their tea, popover mix and jams are sold in several places around town. Jam is about $ 3 less per jar in town. Just a tip since we paid more! This is a place to enjoy the view and the experience. I would recommend to go!

Better than expected for a park restaurant. Everyone says you have to get a popover because it’s a thing. You definitely should because it’s a tradition, and it’s bread. It came with a jam that I enjoyed. My wife and I ordered the cheese plate before hiking around Jordan Pond. It was the perfect little snack. Cheeses and nuts were way better than I expected in a park atmosphere. The service was perfectly enjoyable, and it seems like college students working there for the summer. Cheers to this beautiful setting, and be sure to hike around the pond after your meal.

It was just ok. I won’t come back. I came here after my friend recommended for popovers and tea. We were hungry so we tried other stuff. I tried turkey sandwich and tasted like just another turkey sandwich which somewhat tasted resembling one of those airport sandwiches… I also had a veggie soup. Tasteless… Serving staff looked bored and chatting their time away. Looked very unprofessional young kids, probably doing their summer job here. I wasn’t impressed.

We came here for lunch and popovers. Be advised that if you come here outside of normal meal hours, you will have less menu items to choose from. Waited about 45 mins for a table for 2 at 3pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was clearly slammed as we walked toward our table and encountered a huge sticky pool of something that had spilled earlier and instantly adhered to our shoes. This wasn’t cleaned up the whole time we were there and encompassed four other tables. Our waiter was nice but he was having a hard time with the kitchen staff. He first brought me tea with the popover but forgot to bring a teacup so i was unable to enjoy the two together. The chef forgot the salad dressing on my plate and radishes on my wife’s salad so he continually had to run back downstairs to get them. I felt bad for him. The food was pretty good, although really overpriced. At almost $ 20 the lobster roll fell short of any I tried for 1⁄3rd less on our Maine trip. The salads, popover and dessert were delicious. So if you come here just expect below average service and above average prices.

I had the chicken salad with their famous popovers. And i know why the popovers are famous perfectly baked they would win the British baking show. The blueberry lemonade was too sour for me. It was slightly on the pricey side but it is a tourist trap and let’s face it we didn’t mind getting trapped here. The views were spectacular if u walked down to Jordan Pond.

You owe it to yourself to try this institution. The tea and popovers are something you will remember the rest of your life. Everything is immaculate and the service was incredibly friendly and attentive. There’s nothing to be disappointed by.

Despite our disappointing experience the previous summer(2014) which was the first season under new management, we decided to try it again for lunch in mid-October 2015. It was much improved. My sister’s bison meatloaf sandwich was tasty, generous and very filling. My seafood chowder was good and the popovers were served properly, one at a time, on this occasion. I enjoyed my customary blueberry tea. It appears that they are learning from the mistakes of last season which can be chalked up to inexperience.

You can come here for tea and enjoy the breathtaking view but I think the best experience is had hiking around the pond. The water is crystal clear, literally, and the trails along the shore bear some of the most serene footpaths in the park! You won’t need to strap your hiking boots on to enjoy them either. Quick note, as tempting as it may be, do not enter the water; There is no bodily contact with the pond. This is for good reason, as the water in the pond serves as the drinking water to the parishes below.

I had hyped this place up for the entirety of our trip and we went here on one of our last days and it was BYFAR the worst experience I’ve ever had in any restaurant in Maine. The popovers that used to be included with your meal were $ 5 a piece of 2 for $ 8 which is steep but could have been overlooked if our server wasn’t rude, forgetful, and unkind. She harshly talked to my friend for asking if she was taking both our drink and food orders as the service had been slow since we had sat down and she had neglected us for fifteen minutes while servicing other tables. It was upsetting, but to top it off, the food really wasn’t that great. Their lobster bisque was tasty, but not out of this world good and certainly not worth sitting through the awful service. I wish I could remember her name and if I ever do I will certainly make an updated review. I wish we could have switched servers as the table next to us looked like it was receiving great service by a friendly waiter, but we suffered through a rude waitress who let us run out of water, acted like we were imposing upon her by being there, and we felt like we were overpaying for our food. Not an experience I would recommend and probably won’t be included in our trip next year.

We were told this is the classic of Jordan Pond. It certainly has earned its title over years. After a hike around Jordan Pond(which is another outstanding experience where our two year old hiked almost the whole circle with us), the sight of the house and the smell of popovers were amazing. The lobster roll was presented almost like a piece of art work, like the view here. While we munched through the popovers, the kids were chasing each other on the lawn with the bubbles as backdrop. It couldn’t get better than this. May not be the absolute best food you’ve ever got, but it sure deserves a stop-over or two in our case.

It’s the only restaurant inside the Acadia National Park and as you can imagine, they are busy during the summer hours. They take reservations so plan your hike accordingly(who bothers with reservations for food inside a national park though?). We waited for about 30 minutes for outdoor seating — time that was utilized well lounging around the great outdoors. First, the location is perfect! Jordan lake is a beautiful fresh water lake with about 3.5 miles of hiking trail around it. A nice brisk pace on the trail will really work your appetite. Outdoor seating on a clear-blue sky day with temps in low 70’s — that’s a good start right there. Plus they are very pet friendly — our dog, Doppler, had plenty of company. The menu had a decent veggie selection and the staff here is fairly quick on their feet and efficient. We ordered veggie wraps(pita with hummus and veggies — some grilled), grilled cheese with Apple chips(yes!), and a nice big garden salad. The wraps come with a wheat bulgur based preparation on the side. Very healthy and reasonably tasty. Freshly squeezed lemonade was indeed fresh and refreshing. The garden salad was fantastic — tomatoes, greens, grilled red peppers; all fresh, crisp, and tender. This is not to be missed! For extra $ 2.50, you can get«popover» with butter and cheese. Popovers are croissant like fluffy and flaky and muffin-looking baked goody. Loved it! Slobber it with butter and the yummy strawberry jam and you will regain all the calories you burned(and then some) on the trails. Overall, a pleasant experience inside the park. We thought the food was reasonably priced and the staff worked the tables pretty fast.

Came here after a hike around Jordan park and it was bustling. The outside seating is nice and plentiful so wait wasn’t that long. Got popovers, the lobster stew, and the blueberry crisp. The popovers came out nice and warm and fluffy. Just wished I had saved some to eat with the stew. The stew was absurdly expensive $ 20 for a bowl, but it was very good. The lobster meat was actually sizable and plentiful and the stew had great flavor, with the sherry and the cream. The blueberry crisp could have used more ice cream but over all not bad for a tourist location

Wonderful mountain house for a break or two from Acadia hiking. JPH boasts a most impressive army of young staff(who apply into a feeder program) and we actually had one seasoned waiter training new cadets as part of our first visit. They’re all good kids, friendly and eager. My first lunch here, I ordered the meatloaf sandwich(had to take a brief break from the lobstah). It was excellent, and a popular non-crustacean choice here. The popover is a must – hot, moist, and melts in your mouth. There’s also an excellent array of drinks – on our second visit I pigged out, double-fisting both the blueberry lemonade and Maine Lunch. Yum. There are plenty of seats both inside and out and you can also sit out on the lawn(though we were here early in the season, during a rainy stretch when most of the chairs were still flipped in their stack). Nice gift store, too, where we took care of most of our family gift shopping.

After a day of touring through Acadia National Park, this was the perfect spot for a hearty late lunch. This is the only restaurant in the park. You overlook Jordan pond which is absolutely beautiful. It was raining on the day we visited, so it was nice to sit inside where it is warm and dry and take in the scenery. This place is known for its popovers and rightfully so. They came out warm and we topped them with butter and jelly and scarfed them down immediately. I also had a lobster roll which was really good. It came with a cold whole grain salad that was great and something I would love to make for myself at home. It had wild rice, barley, other grains, feta, and a light vinaigrette. It was a refreshing compliment to the lobster roll. We shared a blueberry crisp for dessert. It had so many blueberries and was topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. This place had many unique high points: the popovers, Maine lobster, and Maine blueberries.
