Poor quality fish. Over priced for the quality they are serving. Save your money go elsewhere. We went on a Saturday night and the place was pretty dead. Yes you will be very disappointed. We only went because of Unilocal. Also if you don’t spend enough the owner gets all weird.

This one is so long overdue — my favorite sushi spot in the area! Amazing fish and the owner and staff are all very friendly and make you feel at home. This is a great place for both sushi fanatics and those who like sushi but mostly like rolls. We love to sit at the sushi bar with either Panda or Richie Rich. The specials are always amazing, and we always make sure to ask the owner his favorites of the day — he is a master of choosing fish and does his own selections each day. We are more sushi/sashimi people, but they also have delicious and creative rolls. They consistently have great snappers, ocean trout, sweet shrimp(in season), toro, big eye tuna and uni. For the rolls, we love the Bitchy Bitchy roll and the Absolutely Fabulous roll.

This is my first time here and i have an amazing experience with chef Richie. The sushi is great. The hand rolls are over the top here(my fav hand roll place so far). This place is so close to my house, definitely coming back soon.

The hand rolls are really good, especially the spicy tuna hand roll, they are big and delicious. We also tried their special, uni(sea urchin) and caviar on top of ousters, they were a bit pricy but they were good. The owner was really friendly. The place was a little over priced for what it is, but I would definitely come here again.

Love the sushi here! Always fresh and well made. They have a great variety with unique rolls and names. Wish their music wasn’t so loud — but otherwise, I recommend it.

Had this place bookmarked for a while but never went because of its location. It’s placed hidden inside a strip mall near a CVS and Pavillion grocery store across from Main St in Seal Beach. And about a block away is Koi which is where I usually end up. But I decided to venture to somewhere new for sushi and I’m so glad I ended up here! This sushi has amazing flavor and the fish is super fresh! It’s super casual and the staff are all really friendly. And it’s all very reasonably priced. I’m definitely coming back to try the other rolls and items on the menu!

Our first initial spot was packed and had over an hour wait so we decided for our 2nd alternative which was Sushi Ryokan and I am glad that this happened! I am basing my review upon the food I had! The service was a little off, I know they were pretty busy, it was a Saturday Night so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. This is the only reason why they aren’t receiving the 5th star. EVERY roll we ordered here was delicious! I mean every single one, we ordered 5 different rolls and each one had a unique tasty taste! Had some of their sake a sapporo and an Iced Green tea. It was a perfect night and dinner here definitely hit the spot.

Sushi Ryokan!!! We’ve been coming here regularly for about 2 years now and can still honestly say this is by far the best sushi I’ve ever had. We have never been disappointed by our friends at Sushi Ryokan. Ever. Everything they do here, from sushi to pricing to customer service, gets 5 solid stars from us. These guys have become great friends of ours(We love you Panda, Richie, Tony, Nina and the rest!) They are all genuinely kind, funny, and truly care about making sure every customer leaves completely happy with their experience. We will continue coming here for as long as we live. Give them a try, you won’t be sorry! And tell them George and Briana sent you. ;P

One of my favorite local places to get sushi. Service is friendly, sushi chefs are great and the atmosphere can be lively at times. They really appreciate returning customers and it’s always a pleasure every time I go. Ask your server, sushi chef or check the handwritten board for specials of the day. Always some good choices. Sometimes unique items such as flying fish, oysters with uni, salmon samplers and more! They sometimes post on their Instagram and Facebook accounts for the fresh seafood they get. If you are into sushi rolls, they have a good variety of specialty rolls as well as American favorites. they will also customize a roll just for you! Who wouldn’t want to try a Girl Gone Wild Roll or Sex on the Beach Roll or Tokyo Killer Roll? A few of my favorite items: — Spicy Edemame — Albacore sushi with jalapeño and fried onion on top — Oyster with uni on top — Spanish mackerel — sometimes they have different kinds of mackerel — Naked Girl — a shrimp nigiri on steroids. — Amaebi and pompano sushi — they deep fry the remaining head and body. so crispy and crunchy! — The Specials of the Day — The beer and sake selection is good too. Other: They have a few TV monitors so it’s nice to catch a sporting event and have some good grub.
