Select Nail House

We came here for mani, pedis and waxing before my daughter’s wedding. The staff was warm, friendly and funny. We had a great time. Also, our nails and pedis were beautiful. My mani lasted almost a week (I am tough on my hands). I will certainly be back when I visit my daughter in Seal Beach.

Basic pedi is 17. They will try to up sell options, just a heads up.
The massage chairs are good. If you have trouble with yours, tell the owner Kim. She will take care of it pronto!

I have been coming to Select Nail House for over 10 years — same manicurist, Kim Chi! I love the energy at the salon; it is always fun. Kim does a great job every time, and I hate when I bring friends because they always want her and then I have to let someone else take care of me. Lol. They take laws and hygiene very seriously. If you go there with any regularity, you always know when there has been a health code change, because they are on top of it! The front is usually covered by either Kim, the owner, or Trevor or Tom. I rarely have any trouble when booking appointments. If you are looking for a clean, friendly, fun, yet professional nail salon, give Select a shot. My personal favorites are Kim Chi, Lilly, or Tracy. Their prices might be a little more than some other nail salons, but it is worth it for the quality products they use (almost all OPI) and the peace of mind that comes with knowing it is safe. And it’s always a fun time. :-)

I used to come here regularly, until I found Allure Nails, in Huntington Beach. Yesterday, out of sheer laziness, I went back here for a manicure. Now I know why I changed locations. It was and is the worst French tip manicure I have ever had done. Compared to
Allure, this place is noisy, dirty and operatives are pretty low-​skilled. My manicure is already growing out, as the operator didn’t cover all of the whites of my nails. The manicure is one day old and looks like it is seven days old. The application of the nail polish is haphazard and very amateurish. Back in the car and on to Huntington Beach, for sure.

This nail salon is the best. The owner is a very nice, warm, helpful person and the salon is clean and well priced. Like all the people who work there and their services are excellent. Highly recommend this place!

I have ben going to Select Nail House for about 8 years and couldn’t be happier. In the unfortunate event I could not make it into Select and had to go somewhere else I had to wait a long time, my nails were done poorly and almost always ended up with a broken nail. Not here. You can walk in without an appointment and get helped right away. The owner Kim and her brother are always there to greet you and make sure you are taken care of immediately. The best part is that everyone there does a fantastic job, there isn’t one person I have to see or wait for because each manicurist takes time to make sure your nails are done correctly.

This salon has been here forever and I love it everytime I come in! I’ve been coming here my whole life and all of my experiences have been great. Highly recommended!

Came here because of the Unilocal reviews. The only good thing about this place is the nail polish selection. As soon as I walked in I took one look at this place and thought «this place is dirty». I asked for an overlay and they didn’t know what it was. I’ve gone to other places and they never used that filing machine, only a nail file. I don’t like the machine because they always cut/​burn my cuticle which she did. I also didn’t appreciate that she would push my hand away when she was done or buffing/​filing my nails looking away and talking to people, it’s like «pay attention to my nails. eyes over here please!».
The buffing heads were in an Altoids container. The instruments did not look clean. I saw one of the ladies only wiping the tools with a dry towel… no disinfectant.
The windows, floors, and work stations were dirty. If the people have chipped paint and drywall falling apart, it makes me think that they don’t care about their salon, I’m surprised this place is located on Main St in Seal Beach. I’ve seen better salons in the ghetto.
Pedi$ 22 and overlay $ 44. Whaaat!!! Whaaaat?!! This place is not a spa and nothing special for those high prices. An overlay is just acrylic over your natural nail. It’s not like I asked for a full set of tip with acrylic. So $ 44 is not warranted.
Will not be coming here again. Parking sucks because it’s close to the beach.

Posting to warn others about their waxing services.
First time here… made an appointment for two pedicures (with my daughter in law)…Everything was fine until I asked to have my eyebrows waxed.
I’ve had my eyebrows waxed at nail places for years so I thought, what could go wrong.
Waxing was more painful than I remembered but I thought, that is okay. Got in the car and saw abrasions above both my eyes, but the right was much worse. The pain/​oozing started and after two hours I realized this was not normal.
I called and let them know that this person should be trained to not hurt anyone else. The owner said she would refund my waxing costs.
Now I have scabs and TODAY I checked my account and the funds have not been refunded.

I absolutely love this place! I have been coming here with my mom for the last 10 years! They have good prices and have the BEST service! The ladies are so nice and sweet! I usually can only go maybe twice a month but the nail polish lasts on your nails (and I’m talking just a regular pedicure) not even the gel nails. So if you need a new nail salon check them out!!!

Overall a good experience for my 2 daughters (9&12) and me. May go back, but we will check out another place or two before we do.
My critique: The mani and pedi with flowers for the two girls were $ 40 each, which I thought was a little steep for little girls. My mani and pedi was $ 30. I did not like that the price list didn’t clearly state the price for a regular or «spa chair» manicure and pedicure combo. When I asked for clarification, the woman was not polite and straightforward about it. I ran into a common problem with manicurists these days — They want to cut away at my cuticles. I don’t allow that. I repeatedly had to say «push only, no cut». The woman didn’t understand or didn’t want to acknowledge my direction until I pulled my hand away. After that, it was pretty smooth.
The owner/​manager seems nice, but unaware. I would recommend a simple and clear statement of pricing for mani/​pedi combo in a regular chair and in a spa/​massage chair. I would also recommend that the technicians be trained to properly push the cuticle with the remover gel and ask if the client wants the excess cuticle cut, or not. I do not like feeling as though the pricing is tricky and I don’t like when I’m paying for a service and my directions are not heard. I’m sure other customers feel the same way. Two small fixes.

Kim has owned this amazing nail salon for a couple of decades. It has grown a lot but the service has been exceptional throughout this time. I always am pleased with my mani/​pedi!

My favorite nail salon in Orange County ! I’ve given all the girls a chance but I have to say Christina fixes my nails to perfection every time ! After searching and all the bad full sets I’ve received I can honestly say I will never go anywhere else. Thank you again ! See you in two weeks ;)

I’ve walked in here a handful of times without an appointment and each time, I was seated quickly.
The owner, a friendly man, is so accomodating and easy to talk to.
I had a shellac manicure here yesterday with Megan and I think I’ll be her new regular. One of the most thorough jobs I’ve had in a while; she even admitted to being overly picky in regards to detailing nail shapes and angles, which was totally find with me! She cared sincerely about doing a clean and thorough job and I felt very taken care of. She was very careful and fixed little mistakes along the way. My hands look fantastic too.
Plenty of selection with gel polish colors. Bring cash for your tip.
Definitely worth the price. Ask for Megan for your shellac manicure.

I’ve been to nail salons near and far, and this nail house is by far the best! I moved to Texas nearly 2 years ago, but every time I come back to visit California, I get my nails done here. The staff is always charming, and they remember me even when I haven’t been in for months. The owners are also super cool. They must have something good going on because the employees are always sweet and attentive. The space is bright and breezy, and most important, the salon is clean and sanitary. They follow all sanitary practices, including placing disposable plastic liners around the footbaths. Select Nail House can’t be beat!

No wait. Very friendly place. Van did a perfect mani w gel and can’t remember the name of the lady who did my pedi and brows, but really loved those as well. Just moved to Seal Beach but won’t be trying other nail places.

My friend and I called and made an appointment at 1:03 pm. Our appointment was for 2:40pm. We arrived at 2:30pm. By 3:20pm they finally had someone come over to do my pink and white set. It doesn’t really matter if «someone went home sick». You are running an establishment that takes apponments. If you can’t keep an appointment, don’t make one. Now I do not have time to get them done because I won’t make my friend wait another hour when her nails are already done. I will not be back. I will say one good thing, the lady that did my toes was nice.

Love coming into Select Nails in seal beach for pampering. They do a great job making you feel pampered by taking their time with you. She offers a great leg massage and pedi! Takes her time and then some. I like that I don’t feel like she is rushing me for the next client! Thank you Kimmy! I missed seeing the owner Kim this visit! Love that lady! She always makes me laugh and has a positive attitude! So happy my friend recommended this salon about 1 ½ years ago! I haven’t gone anywhere else since when I’m in California!
