Hau is our chef today, and he is super sweet! I am impressed by his performance. this place is much better than Benihana. I was extremely disappointed at Benihana. The food there was not tasty n there was no show. I believe people go there to see the fire show. Unfortunately we did not see any shows. This time, at kobe stake house, i realized that chefs do entertain their customers. PS: Thank you Hau we enjoyed our dinner, and your show is fantastic. Trust me, you will love California

Standard fare for the type of eestaurant. We had reaervations for 12 at 7 pm, we weren’t seated until 7:45 Wow! No apologies or excuses. Could not believe it. Service zero, but food was very good. Unfortunately will not go back again.

I have been a fan of Kobe for a long time. Some the things I love: Sterling Merlot especially when it is happy hour Live music, especially when it was open seating and you did not have to get a reservation. Tepan table because it is fun. Wait staff is great even when the place is super busy. I have always been satisfied with their food, be it Sushi, Tepan table etc. but my last visit I did a cheat meal and ordered the Blackened Salmon. I was very disappointed my salmon was extremely overcooked. I am wondering if because it was blackened that meant turn it to pink cardboard? I should have ordered it medium rare perhaps. This is the first time that I have had a bad meal there so everybody gets a pass, but keep that in mind if you are ordering fish off the table menu. Perhaps specify the amount of done you would like.

This was my first Teppanyaki experience, and I was mesmerized by the chef’s tricks with his cooking utensils and the fire he created on the grill and in the onion ring stack. I felt like a little kid watching a professional cook an elaborate meal. There was a little boy across the table and he looked sort of terrified and uncertain about the fire. Just be ready, because there’s little warning. At least nobody got their hair singed(don’t worry, the fire’s really not big enough to do that). I did notice that other chefs seemed more interactive, but perhaps it’s because we were a group of adults. A chef at a different table was flinging food into peoples’ mouths and kids got the chance to try and catch it. It was cute! I split the Shrimp and Scallops Teppanyaki plate with my friend. There’s a $ 6 charge for a split plate, but you both get onion soup, ginger salad, and rice. We split about 12 shrimp and 8 scallops, along with hibachi veggies of mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, bean sprouts, and onion. I enjoyed the onion soup. The broth was flavorful and had soggy breaded onion pieces in it, along with a few thinly sliced mushrooms. I passed the salad to my other friend, but it had a good assortment of lettuce that wasn’t just iceberg, along with a hearty ginger dressing. Unfortunately, I asked for steamed rice and should’ve ordered fried rice. The steamed rice came out even before the chef started cooking, so by the time our meat and veggies were ready, the rice was cool. The fried rice was made right in front of us. If I had known that, I would’ve ordered it instead, as it was piping hot and full of fresh scrambled eggs and butter. You could even ask for it to be extra crispy. Everything was served with a spicy mustard dip and a ginger concoction. Of course, a bottle of soy sauce was handy too! I thought the shrimp and scallops were bland. They were a decent size but nothing made them stand out. The hibachi veggies had a good softness to them and a lightly seasoned dressing. Overall, the most impressive thing was the chef. There’s nothing like entertainment with dinner! At various times though, it was definitely loud as the chefs’ utensils clanged on the grill. I would probably try a sushi roll next time I come; a friend ordered the Alaska Roll and it looked superb. The taste of the food made at the Teppanyaki grill didn’t seem worth the price.

This is a Japanese Tepan and sushi bar that also has a venue for live music. Ordered drinks from the bar while waiting for the table and my vodka tonic was made well Food when it arrived was delicious and on par with a restaurant at this price point. The kitchen was able to make an accommodation that wasn’t on the menu and that really sealed the deal for us that we will be coming back! However one thing that this restaurant needs to work on is timeliness in which food is brought out. Maybe the wait staff was short handed the night we went but my dinner entrée was not served all at once. 15 – 20 mins later my main course came out but by then the sides that compliment it were cold and diminished my experience.

We used a Groupon to try this restaurant for the first time. We were not disappointed. I had the blackened salmon with veggies and a generous portion of fried rice. Very delicious. I’m very particular about my veggies. I hate it when they are over cooked and soggy. These veggies were hot, crispy and very tasty. Hubbie had the stead and lobster. It was quite afight for him because he LOVES steak and usually eats only half so he can leftovers for the next morning. He really had to reign himself in from almost eating the whole thing even though we had the Kobe beef sliders as an appetizer. Also mega delicious. One thing we noticed was the sushi bar was completely empty. Seems the big draw to this restaurant are the tapan tables. Every one of them was completely full. This is a big birthday party favorite it seems and you need reservations in advance. But there was NOONE at the sushi bar. I am definitely bringing friends back to sit at the sushi bar and give it a go. Excellent atmosphere for celebrating. We were there celebrating 11 years to the day we met. And Kobe Japanese Steakhouse doesn’t disappoint. P. S. We were able to watch the football playoffs. My hubbie liked this.

First off I was celebrating my 25th birthday with a group of 12 people. I had made reservations over a week prior. Upon my arrival I approached the hostess stand and said I had a reservation for 7pm for Danielle, at this time is was 6:45. The hostess(Nile/Nial) rolled her eyes and asked if my entire parry had arrived yet. I said no there are only 5 of us thus far. She responded with a rude facial expression and tone that we would not be sat until the entire party had arrived. Once my entire party had arrived I reproached the hostess stand directing my attention towards the new hostess. I said hi our completed party has arrived may we be seated now. The hostess looked at the other hostess, the has responded inappropriately towards me before, and she asked her if our table was ready. Nile/Nial said she would«check», by this time it was already 7:30. A kind Asian woman informed me that the table we would be dinning at was preoccupied; the patrons had finished but had not left yet. This upset me but I held my tongue being this was the first nice employee I had encountered. After 15 minutes or so we were sat. The table was a little of a tight squeeze for 12 people but we made it work. Service was quick once we were seated and that made up for the hostess’ mistake. I myself, ordered the Kobe Ultimate, a $ 50 meal and a coke. Let me say the man that cooked at the teppanyaki table was very entertaining and skilled, I enjoyed myself very much. But when I asked if he wanted a beer he replied his throat was soar – didn’t think much of it at that point, but looking back I didn’t want a sick man cooking my food. The shrimp was under cooked, the lobster was fishy rather than A-grade, and the chef gave me a different cut of steak instead of the Filet Mignon, like I had ordered. The onion soup tasted rather flavorless. The fried rice had some under cooked grains of rice that I could have chipped a tooth on. The best part was The Strawberry Love dessert, very very delicious. The women that sang to me for my birthday were entertaining, that part I enjoyed. They serenaded me, with tambourines and a chocolate Sunday, with a candle to blow out. The bill was $ 600 before tip was added. Overall The food was not worth the drama, the wait, the hype, and the cost. Not to mention I’ve had ibs for the past day and a half now. Either thanks to under cooked meat or a sick chef; maybe even due to sanitation problems. I DONOT recommend this place. I wish Tokyo Hibachi was still open in Lakewood; because that place was a true tasty adventure. Thanks for the«special» birthday Kobe and staff.

I came here with our friends for a Holiday Party. I came late, therefore I couldn’t order the teppan with the chef, but they did have teppan style dishes to order from that could be made in the back kitchen. Our Vietnamese Teppan Chef was quite hilarious — only if you were Vietnamese. None the less, it did not yield in a lesser food quality if you did not get his jokes.(I sampled off a friends plate) Instead of Teppan, I decided to go with the Japanese Pasta which is your choice of fettuccine or udon in a spicy tequila cream sauce. It definitely sounded tastier than it tasted. Ultimately, my dish came out really salty. If anyone has ever eaten the brand Maggi Soysauce, it really just tasted like that with udon noodles. I sent it back to the kitchen without trying anything else. I was really disappointed, however, the waitress went ahead and took that off our bill. Also, the steakhouse and teppan area looks a little unkempt. It definitely needs new furniture and equipment upgrades. Will not come back anytime soon only because of distance from where I live.

The chef tricks are cool, but the actual food presentation is less than quality. The chef cooks the food and shovels it on your plate, unless he flops it on in some sort of trick. The clashing cookware makes a lot of noise. I’m biased toward great Japanese food, so this restaurant chain ranks low on my list. This is my only visit to a Kobe and will probably be my last. The food was decent but not very impressive compared to many other Japanese restaurants.

Do not come here to watch live music. We came in on a Saturday evening to see a friend’s band, they have a small music area on the left side of the building. The room is small, and there isn’t much room to dance. We ordered a round of drinks, wantons and a sushi roll. We had only planned on staying for one set, so we closed our tab and they charged us $ 30($ 10 each) just to sit on that side and because our $ 48 dollar bill didn’t meet the minimum for that side of the bar… WTF. Besides getting ripped off, when I got home I was not feeling well and basically yakked up everything we ate there… Don’t order sushi from a steak restaurant, ijs. I will not ever come back here.

I have been coming here with my family almost every month for the past few years. Understanding the rush on holidays, I called just before they opened to see how busy they would be and if they were accepting walk-ins. I was told they expected to be extremely busy and that there could be a longer than normal wait due to reservations, but that I could walk in if I wanted the wait. Upon arriving no more than 5 minutes after the phone call was placed, the hostess said if you don’t have a reservations, my family would not be seated. Upon leaving, I contacted Kobe’s to express my concern and was only able to get the same hostess and no answer as to why they were unable to manage their restaurant even though they were not even busy yet. There was only one family in the lobby and 1 teppan table was set. It is unfortunate that I will be looking for an alternate teppan option to take the place of the usual.

Made a reservation for my daughter’s birthday dinner for yesterday at 6:00. We made the reservation on 12⁄18. We arrived here around 5:45 and found out the reservation was never written the reservation book. Pretty upset; the woman in the front said she would try to fit us in. We were able to get seated and I was very glad that they the lady in the front was able to get us seated. This is where the one star comes in. I went here for a lunch party in early December and we had a blast. The chef and the food was really good. That is when I got the idea to take my daughter here for her b-day. For this night, I found out that all chefs were not the same. The one that we got went through the motions and looks like this was his first time doing this. He did the fire in the onion and that was about it. I don’t think my kids knew what they were missing until they saw the other chefs being more interactive. I think my kids would have enjoyed trying to catch a shrimp in their mouth, but there was nothing like that for our chef. Also, the food was not very good. Not sure how much the chef contributes to the flavor, but it tasted nothing like the lunch party I had. It wasn’t as if we ordered cheap food. The dinner came close to $ 200. Pretty disappointed…

Sorry… The chefs lack communication skills. Menu is ok. No birthday flair for my boy in a party of 8. Food was not in my top 10 rating either. Years back it was amazing to come here

I read the Unilocal reviews before coming and it was rated as well as any other Teppanyaki Restaurant. The décor was average and so was the wine list. However, the food was very good. We had steak(New York and Filet) and Lobster Tail and Scallop. The quality was very good. We take our steak very rare and it was very tender and tasty. I would highly recommend their Teppanyaki if that is the type of food that you like.

Such an amazing time! The ambiance was very nicely coordinated with the theme of the restaurant. The drinks were amazing, bottle service prices were reasonable and food was delicious and decent prices. To top it off… the band was great and very entertaining! I highly recommend Kobe’s!

Came here for the Sunday Breakfast with the Beatles hosted by KLOS. They had the buffet going and it seemed very unorganized. Japanese(sushi, tempura, some assorted fried won tons) items were running out fast and were being replaced very slow. People were eyeing the food bar and would rush and grab as soon as items were placed. And the service was slow on pick up used plates from our table. The steak station had the«Wagyu» beef covered in ice waiting to be cooked-to-order. This is a steakhouse! They should know that beef should rest in room temp one hour before cooking. I ordered my piece of «Wagyu» med-rare but it was cut too thin that it was med-rare but the outside was not caramelized and it was still cold from the ice it was sitting in. Flavor was not there but tenderness was. I didn’t go back for more. The well stocked items were the American items. Hamburger sliders, BBQ ribs, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc… These items were well made and tasted good. But I came to a Japanese restaurant so where was the Tonkatsu, Japanese curry, or at least some Teriyaki. I also noticed that all of the Teppanyaki cooking station’s baseboards were greasy dirty. You can see that the baseboards are originally a light cream color but are now black with dirt and grease. Not a good sight. Three stars instead of two is because the food was alright and the desserts were great.

Just went last night for dinner & Food was extremely DRY! It was so hot in the restaurant– we even asked if the air conditioning broke. We were in a group of 8 and all of us were dripping sweat while we’re sitting and eating our food. It was cooler outside than inside. Also, is was a bit pricy for dinner– Benihana’s is a 10 star compared. Oh and the bald bartender super rude! Seemed like he hated his job! My gosh, go work somewhere else if you can give good customer service. On the bright side: When the other bartender came in for shift–(wish I would of got his name– such a sweetheart) he way more friendly & good vibes. The only thing that was absolutely amazing was our cook! We were laughing the whole entire time he was cooking. Good job!

Great place for dinner! They serve Teppanyaki style Japanese food, a chef cooks your food at your table. It’s a big restaurant with a separate bar area with a stage. There was a great Funk/Old School/R&B band playing the night I was there. I ordered the Steak and Chicken combo. They chef was entertaining and cooked the food perfectly. It was delicious! It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.

As a birthday outing, I brought my boyfriend to Kobe Steakhouse for their monthly live«Breakfast with the Beatles» broadcast and Sunday brunch with Chris Carter. He has been a huge Beatles fan since he was a wee little lad and has listened to BwtB on KLOS every week for several years. I RSVP’ed about 2 months ahead of time, just to make sure we would get a good table, and called to verify a week ahead of time. We arrived early(broadcast starts at 9, while the full brunch starts at 10:30) and were seated at a tall cocktail table near the exit door. The manager came up to us 5 minutes later to ask if we could be moved, as they had promised a cocktail table to another party. We were a little disappointed, but didn’t want to cause a fuss, and they seated us at a smaller table closer to the stage. The wait staff was a bit slow in the beginning to offer drinks(in defense of the waitress, it looked like she was the only one until 10AM). They do offer many drink options, including bottomless mimosas. By the end of the morning, they had run out of orange juice and substituted the mimosas with cranberry and champagne instead(which actually tasted better). Due to the location of our table, it was difficult to get up and venture to the buffet. The tables on the floor are set up in 3 long rows, back-to-back and there is little walking space between chairs. I think we made 2 trips to the brunch area, where they offer many breakfast and lunch items. I remember eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, french toast, potatoes, sushi, tempura, chicken wings, salads, and small bite-sized desserts like cheesecake and tiramisu. Looks like they also had an omelet station and other lunch grill station, but we didn’t want to wait and miss part of the show. All of the food tasted great, and it was plentiful. Chris Carter puts on a great show, for both a super fan like my boyfriend and a casual fan like me. He asks trivia questions and gives out prizes throughout the event. The 4 hour or so flew by and we were sad when it was over. Its a little pricey at $ 46 a person, but with the entertainment and offerings, worth it. We will definitely be coming back.
