Specialties

Hampshire Inn and Conference Center is an independant hotel located in Seabrook, NH. Our hotel has 35 overnight guest suites and 4 confenrence rooms with more than 3,000 sf of meeting space. The hotel is an all suites facility built in 1988 but newly remodeled in 2010. Every room has mini-​refrigerator, microwave, and kitchenette. An all seasons hotel conveniently located near Route 95 at the gateway to New Hampshire’s Seacoast. Easy on, easy off to Route 95 and convenient to major area highways and airports. We are pet friendly, have a large indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, and game room. We feature friendly service and a complimentary continental breakfast every day. We are close to New Hampshire beaches, shopping, attractions, historical points of interest, and waterfront restaurants. Close to Phillips Academy, Berwick Academy, Governor Dummer Academy and University of NH. Just 10 minutes south of Portsouth, NH and 15 minutes south of Shopping Outlets in Kittery, Maine.

History

Established in 1988.

Looking to provide a convenient place for guest to visit the New Hampshire Seacoast the hotel was built next to Interstate 95 just over the NH boarder in Seabrook. Located one hr. north of Boston, MA, one hr. south of Portland, ME, and one hr. east of Manchester, NH the original owners felt they had found an ideal location for business travelers and leisure guests. Built in 1988 when space was more economical designers of the hotel gave each suite more square feet than today’s modern hotel. Each suite is at least 400 square feet with either two queen beds or a queen and a seperate living room space. Purchased in 1999 the Smith Family took over the Hampshire Inn. For the past 2 years the hotel has remodeled all of the suites including replacing carpeting, changing wall paper to fashionable desgner paint, to updating the technology in each room. The hotel has also improved its energy efficinetcy with better windows, heating and cooling as well installing current energy fixtures.

Manager

Mark Woolley became the General Manager of the Hampshire Inn and Conference Center in 2009. He has over seen the complete remodel of the hotel updating all of the suites. He has also re-​desgned the web site www​.hamp​shireinn​.com and updated the marketing for the hotel including the addition of the hotel’s own youtube channel at www​.youtube​.com/​h​a​m​p​s​h​i​reinn. Mark has more than 10 years of experience in the hospitality field and more than 20 years of management experience. He has a strong background in the customer service fields and has taught his skills to the staff at the hotel.

Pretty nice place if you like dust and bed from the 1970’s. Bugs and holes in the wall really give it a nice dumpster dive feel. If you get undressed in the hotel room it’s like being in an episode of naked and afraid.

Booked a room (suite) with pull out queen bed. When I got there they said the pullout bed didnt work and would have to sleep on couch. Would give no price break. Found couch nasty with no pillows or sheet. Found candy wrappers, playing cards and CIG BUTS under cushion. Through all garbage in trash. They charged me for smoking in room because they found the butts in can. I DONT SMOKE as I told them. Three requests to speak with manager and was told they would call me back. NEVER did. STAY AWAY
Two days after my first complaint my credit card number was used for fraud. Hmmm coincidence?

So I did not read the reviews first… my bad! The place is dirty, my tub had some short and curly! Gross!
Breakfast was good!
I changed rooms because I did not like that there was a big gap around the door and no dead bolt, I left my phone charger in the first room when I went down to ask housekeep was there, so I asked her and she got it from behind the desk so being polite I thanked her… And the rude women behind the desk told me to «keep it down, I’m on the phone»

Called this place before booking a room to clarify the pet policy. Was told $ 20 fee can pay when check in. Reserved a room online through kayak. When arrived was told would not take pet. Lady was very rude and unprofessional from start. Luckly we found a room down the street at the seabrook inn for the same price that accepts pets and has nice staff.

This place was awful. From the minute we pulled up we noticed that the owners/​management didn’t care about the appearance. Needs paint job. Then the staff took forever to check me in. They knew I was overcharged by the online reservation by their reaction to the paperwork they printed, but when I asked about it they lied like they didn’t know how much to charge. The elevator ride was a nightmare jumping before it reached just one floor up. The rugs were disgustingly dirty and stained in the hall. The room stunk like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while and we knew This by the fixtures being dirty, the t.v. channel laminate being dirty, and the bathroom floor being sticky and dirty. I knew this by cleaning them. I will never stay here again or recommend it. The online reservation had this at 4 star, but Unilocal at 4. Checking with Unilocal from now on!

The problem with this place is that it’s a glorified motel that thinks it’s a fancy inn. Hence, this place has a bit of identity crisis that can make people hate it, but I think it was just fine.
Yes, the rooms are on the dirtier side of the spectrum, but the public amenities are nothing short of great. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a nice layout that includes a leather couch and a television on one level and the check-​in and some coffee on the upper level. The pool & hot tub were spacious, well-​chlorinated, and clean. The breakfast didn’t skimp.
This place takes a hit on, like I said, dirtier rooms and disciplinarian staff. They reprimanded my six year old brother 4 times in a one night stay, only twice were they justified («don’t run» and «please get off the wheeled cart»). But they don’t experience that conflicted delivery of acceptable customer admonitions, like «Gee, that’s not safe, so if you wouldn’t mind…» but more like, «This is mama’s motel, and you can’t do that, so stop.“Again, motel ethos in an inn with bed and breakfast rules. Doesn’t work.
The lighthouse figurines they have are cute but stupid and I think I broke one.

I am currently staying here and these reviews are all wrong, everyone here has been nice and professional. There is free WiFi, a clean pool, an arcade and an awesome breakfast. They clean the rooms very well and the other night I called the front desk for towels and they brought up warm ones, it was great. Best price around as well.

Don’t do it! If you are desperate and can’t afford something more, then expect the worst! The only good thing in our room was that the carpet looked fairly new. The couch was so gross, my husband asked for a spare sheet so we could cover it. Toilet had not been cleaned in a while. Stayed on first floor everything in the room was very dated.

I wish I could write a review with negative stars. This place has no existing WiFi. We were travelling cross country and this was our last place to stay. Horrible. We got a deal on the presidential suite thinking it would be great to have the space and pool after a long journey. When we arrived there was a crowd of people at the front door all enjoying their cigarettes with their dogs. The front doors were wide open allowing all the smoke to fill the lobby and waft towards the rooms (mine specifically which was supposedly non smoking). The gentleman at the front desk was not even bothered to greet me with eye contact or a friendly greeting. There was a sign stating that the pool was closed and when I stated that was the reason I had rented the room I was not offered an apology or anything. I was given a key and then began my journey down to my room. I did peek at the pool and there was no way I would have allowed my kids to swim in it even if it was open. When we opened the room it was dated and used. there were scratches on the furniture and the couch was questionable. There was also a sign out front stating a housekeeper was wanted which now explains the state of the room. The microwave and kitchen are from the 80’s and sketchy to use. When we had trouble with our cable we approached the front desk and «bothered» the person yet again pulling him form the computer to help us. Not once did he look at us or even acknowledge our thanks for helping. In the morning we chose to drive down to Dunkin Donuts rather than eat the paltry breakfast offered. There is a coffee «bar» in the front lobby but with all the smoke wafting in we decided to avoid. I would seriously avoid this place at all cost. It looks like a place that should charge by the hour rather than the $ 150 I paid for for the room.

Seriously … Do NOT stay here! I’m posting this from my room while I’m staying here! The staff is CLUELESS and the list of inadequacies at this place is a mile long!
When I arrived, there were no towels at all … Not even a hand towel to dry my hands after using the bathroom! Ok … I’m thinking … no biggie … I’ll go to the front desk (it’s 5:30 pm mind you)
and ask about getting some. Clearly it was a mistake… Well. Not so much … I was told that there weren’t any clean ones but they were washing some and they would get them to me as soon as they were done… The guy at the desk. although he seems like a nice guy, just pacifies you while you’re standing there but it’s like he forgets the SECOND you walk away what the issue is! I ended up going to the front desk 3 different times and got 2 hand towels the 1st trip, 2 pool towels the 2nd trip and 2 bath towels the 3rd trip. For 3 people! God forbid we all want to have a shower or use the pool …
Fast forward a few hours when it come to relax in bed. Roll down the VERY DATED bedspread and NO blanket. Just a paper thin sheet … Go to the desk again (change of shift at 11pm) Mr. Friendly-​but-​not-​helpful is done for the night.
Well, new lady tells me that «the manger can’t work 24 hours, she’s home with her kids» … That’s great. but I’m HERE with MY kids paying to stay here and we have no blankets on the beds in the middle of winter!!!
(Front desk night lady did end up delivering 2 blankets to my room and offer to help me make the beds so again, the staff is friendly enough)
Believe me. I know I’m probably sounding like a whiny b*tch, but it was really just their casual attitude and acting suprised that such problems have occurred. Yet there were constantly guests at the desk with the same issues!
The rooms were good sized and clean.
Haven’t had breakfast yet but have heard good things so maybe tomorrow will be a fresh start!

Okay, it wasn’t the grand palace, and the pool/​pool space is way too small. Anymore then 10 people, we felt claustrophobic (nice hot tub) but for a charge of 53 dollars with tax (winter rates, which varied) for a 2 double bed room. I was thrilled. We even got a continental breakfast for this price. Muffins, waffles, cereal and various fruit juices. The room was clean, funky paint style, a tan/​swirl. It had a microwave and frig, and a decent size flat screen, which worked. The shower/​tub combo had a whirlpool, which we didn’t use. Staff could be a bit friendlier, but needing a place to sleep and making friends ~? I’d stay again

We got a Priceline room for $ 60 total, so that was a good deal. The place looked like it was nice when it was built but never got an upgrade They had those old fashioned plastic room keys with holes punched in it, but they actually worked better than the newer magnetic electronic cards. The pool and gym were closed because the ceiling caved in. According to the staff, it only happened because someone forgot to turn the de-​humidifier last night, which is BS. The other reviews and common sense say that ceiling was bad for a while. The room was okay and large. But they didn’t give us enough towels and the wireless internet signal was weak. The shower head was totally messed up and should’ve been replaced. The staff was clueless, It was Thanksgiving & he was directing us to restaurants that were closed. How hard would it be to check see if any place was opened besides fast food joints?

My friend and I got a great, clean, big room for the night for under $ 100. The room was very blue, but I’m a sailor so I loved it. We stayed on the first floor and it was on the quiet side. No complaints there whatsoever. I wish I brought a bathesuit because the pool and spa looked so relaxing. The front desk lady, Chelsea, was very friendly and helpful. I’m honestly surprised that this place has low/​bad reviews on Unilocal.I would recommend staying here at least.

Ive stayed here twice and the place is a complete dump. The rooms are so dirty its not funny. Bed sheets full of god knows what and curtains that look like somebody dragged through the mud. Actually had housekeeping ask me not to use my towels in the room so much because they were running out. Well guess what do some laundry dummy. I had to go to the front desk on a number of occasions for many different issues. The pool and hot tub also need some major work. They should shut this place down and just do conferences here in the big hall they have downstairs. Hotel impossible should come here

Seriously, don’t charge for WiFi it seems greedy and $ 4.99 for 24 hours is extremely greedy.
The wife and I saw a Groupon that this hotel was promoting for $ 100 for two nights. We fancied a nice romantic weekend away on the waters of Seabrook NH. What we got was an outdated rundown Bates Motel situation between the I-​95 and the local Auto Repair strip mall. The hotel was advertised as a bed and breakfast style «on the water». As it turns out it is 3 very inconvenient miles from the water and parked squarely on the highway and main road of Seabrook. Their «continental breakfast» consisted of stale bran mini-​muffins, children’s mini sugars cereal boxes and burnt coffee.
They do have vending machines in the basement, unfortunately the out of the 5 candy bars we purchased only one had not expired at least 6 months prior and we even received a Three Musketeers that had expired in July of 2008!!! (A disgusting 4 years 8 months before our stay). Also located in the basement is the only ice machine so if you need ice your in for a hike.
When we made our reservation we were told we would get a «Jacuzzi bath tub» which we did not receive we were placed in a room that had a bathroom door that did not even shut. The second night they did make the effort and put us in a room with such a bathtub, which we greatly appreciated, unfortunately it was terrible the bathtub was uneven and so slick, even with the bath mat, and shallow no matter how you sit in the «Jacuzzi bath tub» you are either sucked, quite violently, into a port pulling water or spun around like a top unable to just sit and relax. It was not worth asking to be moved. Further the unevenness of the bathtub made showering down right dangerous.
The beds in both rooms that we were placed in which accounted for a grand total of 3 beds were all more like sleeping on a trampoline than a mattress and neither front door actually lined up so, opening, closing, and locking were either difficult or impossible. The first room was freezing cold and the second room was so hot that we had to open the window into the snow, good luck getting comfortable.
They do not have enough towels to go around so bring your own because the very very few they do have are the size of hand towels and do not expect to get more during your stay.
They have a pool with a hot tub but do not expect it to be relaxing both nights from open until close at 10:30 PM it was filled with dozens of screaming children that could be heard clear on the other end of the hotel which is not by any means close. The hot tub was lukewarm but the pool was a good temperature unfortunately the room is falling apart in need of paint and looks like it is going to collapse at any moment.
If you plan on ordering food do it before 8PM because if you don’t all locations with in delivery distance will be closed except the very disgusting China Star and the very good Crossroads Pizza.
Unfortunately we were unable to achieve a romantic weekend away. It is obvious why this hotel is struggling to keep its rooms filled and resorting to exaggerating on Groupon and offering rooms well below others on market price. If you are looking for a bed to stay in to visit family nearby this is an acceptable cheap option but anything more than that it was a disappointment not worth leaving home to pay for and seriously who still charges for WiFi.
