The Willcox House is one of the nicest and friendliest places we have stayed. We have stayed at B&B’s all over the world and we would be pressed to find friendlier owners or a better experience. The Willcox House, which sets on over 8 acres of forest, is located directly above Hood Canal, providing awesome views of the canal and the Olympic Mountains. The house was built in the 1930’s and still maintains much of the same nostalgia and charm from decades ago. Celebrities such as Clark Gable, Errol Flynn and Ernest Hemingway, we were told, stayed here in order to get away from the craziness of their lives and to get a lot of fresh air. There are five bedrooms, each uniquely decorated. With a pool table, library and many board games, there is a lot to do if you get tired of just gazing out at the water and mountains. There was wine and cheese on the veranda before a great salmon dinner. The breakfast that included an omelet, granola, and a variety of fruits and breads really topped the morning. The Willcox house is a little out of the way, located about 15 minutes south of Seabeck, but what good things aren’t worth going a little out of our ways to find?

I’m writing my review based on a phone conversation I had with an employee. Unfortunately I was never able to stay at this establishment. The reason for that is they are not family friendly. I would not plan on staying here if you are taking a trip with your children. I was inquiring about a room and letting them know the number of guests staying in the room. The employee became very awkward and said«um I don’t think that will work…» I asked why and he said most people who stay there want to have a vacation away from their children. So it’s not against policy to bring children, but they made me feel bad and uncomfortable over the phone, and suggested I not. Even though they advertise that noise from other rooms or the kitchen are well insulated to not disturb. And we really just needed the room for the night. It made me feel embarrassed for evening thinking I could stay somewhere nice and pretty with my daughter. If children aren’t allowed it needs to be clearly listed on the website so potential guests don’t waiste their time.
