Windows On the Water At Surfrider Beach Club

This is my one-​year anniversary update: For our one-​year anniversary my plan was to simply stop by Windows, say hello to Cheryl and hopefully spend an hour out front on the beach to have a little picnic and some champagne. Larry was on vacation but still replied to my email saying we could swing by for a short while before 2pm. I figured that was that — a quick chance to reminisce where my wife and I were married one year ago. During the week I received an email from Cheryl at Windows who also said it was OK to stop by but we didn’t have to rush because there was no event scheduled but she would be there anyway. My wife and I arrived at about 1:45pm…Cheryl said she had a surprise for us… She had set up our own personal table in the cocktail hour room, complete with cheese, crackers, fruit, chocolate-​covered strawberries and even champagne! To say we were blown away at this simple but thoughtful gesture would be an absolute understatement. My wife and I had the venue, had the view and a romantic table for one all to ourselves for two hours. When we were married at Windows there was a legit Nor’easter and we were confined inside. But Windows made it work beautifully and we wouldn’t have changed a thing about the ceremony or reception… and here they go again, making our wedding day (one year later) about as special as the day we said «I do.» CHERYL: WE COULD NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR YESTERDAY!!! YOU ARE THE BEST AND MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY ONE WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

I came to a wedding over the weekend at this venue and I have to say the staff, the managers all the way to the kid cleaning the bathrooms … THEY WERE BEYOND OUTSTANDING !!! Friendly, Smiling all the time and Help full !!! All together they Rocked !

I have NEVER been treated more poorly, and the worst part is that it was by the owner himself. My family and I came here for a wedding, and we hadn’t even been in the lobby for more than 5 minutes when we were attacked by the owner telling us we had to leave the lobby. He said we «had no right to arrive at 4:30 for a 5:00 wedding.» Imagine the crime… how dare we leave early, in case we hit traffic, so that we could make it to the wedding on time?! He then started pointing his finger at our faces and accusing us of being rude. What an awful start to what should have been a very enjoyable evening. I have NEVER encountered a more arrogant, pompous ass in my entire life. I will never come back here, and neither should anyone else. This industry is about service, and he couldn’t be farther from it. Save your hard earned money for an establishment that appreciates it!

Im going to write this review anywhere I possibly can because this place is unbelievable. Id give it 100 stars if i could. Just had our wedding here over the weekend and I could never truly put into words how incredible it was. I always wanted a beach wedding but found a lot of venues down the shore were too casual. When i found this place online, i knew it was it and when we saw it for the first time, i couldnt contain my excitment. It was so beautiful! Throughout the whole process, larry did everything he could to make sure we got everything we wanted and it was such a pleasure working with him this last year. Throughout planning, Ive had a picture in my head how everything would come together and when I walked into the venue on my wedding day, the crew went above and beyond my expectations. I was blown away! Cheryl, our matre d, just wow. She is the reason our day went so smooth. She made sure we had time to ourselves to eat, we never went without a drink in our hand and when some things went wrong, she made sure my husband and I didn’t get involved and handled the whole situation. The staff was incredible and the food was amazing! Our guests were BLOWN AWAY by the venue, the service, and the food. It was absolutely the best day of my life and it wouldn’t have been possible without this staff.

I cannot say enough about Larry Meluso, Cheryl and the entire Windows on the Water group. From start to finish everything was handled flawlessly. The staff was attentive and professional, the location was spotless and the food was delicious. I had attendees from all over the state who commented that this was one of the best venues they had ever been at. I cannot recommend Windows on the Water highly enough for your function. It was a pleasure to work with them!!!

Came to a wedding here and it was a great place. When you enter on the first floor it has a beachy theme and lots of windows (duh) with views of the beach. It was an October wedding so sadly the ceremony had to be moved indoors due to severe wind, but even with that last minute change the staff managed to make an easy transition. They totally worked around us quietly setting up cocktail hour as the ceremony went on and no one even noticed (except me because I was standing in the back) so it didn’t interrupt things. The cocktail hour was delicious, lots of items to choose from. Then we made our way upstairs to the grand ballroom which is pristine. I don’t really get the two different styles, but nonetheless it’s a beautiful venue. Dinner was also very delicious and the bartenders and servers were so great!

Went for a beach wedding over the summer and was pleasantly surpised. The location is really nice overlooking the water so you can get some pretty awesome pictures if thats your thing. The parking lot is terrifying and small. I don’t know how the valet guys do it. The food was very very well done, and the drinks flowed all night long which is what a wedding is all about.
So why 3 stars? The front desk staff was rude as hell. The wedding was pushed back an hour from the listed start time however the guests were not informed of this until they arrived. I was personally told that wedding guests aren’t allowed inside of the club until the wedding starts and that I had to go somewhere else. Also the sassy wedding planner man was out of his mind. He did a lot of running around and barking at people however I didn’t see him doing much. Bartenders were more interested in texting and talking to each other then promptly serving drinks, and even had the cohones to ASK for tips after every drink. Easy cowboy I’ll tip you at the end of the night when I’m good and sauced, you’ll probably end up with more money that way.
Venues like this need to scream professionalism and perfection at every turn. This place has something going with the food and location however they need a complete service overhaul to really call themselves a wedding locale.

Went for wedding. Horrible. I was shoved by a waiter. Treated rude by more than one person. Manager does mot make you feel welcome and is just a big of a jerk as the rest of the staff. and everything rushed. Food was mediocre at best. Couldn’t eat most of it. Thought I was getting a Felit Minon steak at dinner time and got some horrible beef loin. The only thing this place has going for it, is that it is in the beach.
For the people that think this is good, you better hang in north jersey and city to learn what real food is and how waiters should act.

It is very hard to rate our experience: the venue is certainly gorgeous, with an unbeatable location. However, the manager was a horror the likes of which I have never before encountered. He had the bride in tears twice in the weeks before the wedding, insulted and berated the wedding party, and made us feel most unwelcome. It really scarred my memories of an otherwise joyous occasion. We had an outside caterer, so I can’t include any commentary about food.

We had our wedding here 2 years ago, right after the beautiful renovation. Our ceremony was on the beach, cocktail hour on the deck, and reception inside. We had stations served for dinner, which was absolutely delicious… I have heard they don’t like to do stations now because its «not classy». But really, it was awesome we got so many compliment! The place is gorgeous with another deck on the same level as our reception, so people could enjoy the sunset, the ocean and the beautiful views– not to mention, you can order from the bar from out there too. Awesome place… wish I could attend a wedding so I could enjoy it there all over again. Couldn’t have asked for a ore beautiful place!
