I love dining here because the inside reminds me of a cozy old home/maybe former speakeasy; the tables in the first room are tightly packed in but it makes the place comfy and everyone talks a little louder to compensate for the close proximity. Table talk and the clinking of utensils is just my scene. The food is also fantastic. We’ve enjoyed their Chicken Marsala with sautéed mushrooms and eggplant and I recently tried their House Speciality pasta which had large scallops on a bed of linguini in a sherry cream sauce. You could definitely taste the sherry and the 5 scallops mixed in were absolutely huge. The house salad that comes complimentary with your entrée is also really well done. Nice portion topped off with olives, tomatoes, onions and fresh greens. What is unfortunate about Sidel’s is the wait to get service. I’m trying not to be too critical because we originally picked a different place to dine before seeing a show, but since they were backed up we had no choice to venture out which is when we bumped into Sidel’s. We’ve eaten here before so it’s a place where we know we like the food. But the wait… ugh. It’s irritating to walk in and have to stand near a table of people who are trying to enjoy their meals for several minutes before even seeing a person who works there. And then to be seated and have to wait even longer to have the server come over. And the problem seems simple enough. You have 1 server and 1 bartender doing everything. They work as the hostess, food runner, busser, along with taking orders and checking to make sure everything is going well. Yes, the place is small, but still, to be packed on a Sunday along with a few people sitting at the bar, it’s unacceptable to have no one present when you walk in and then to wait for service, albeit the server being attentive and sweet once she had a minute to catch her breath. When you lack staff, other areas worthy of 5 star quality lack too, such as no toilet paper in the bathroom and that rushed, panicked energy from your server running around. I’ve worked in several restaurants as a server and it feels awful when you have unhappy customers because you are understaffed and things don’t run nearly as smooth or efficient as they should. Great food with a mom and pop style feel. But being shorthanded /under staffed really put a crutch in our dining experience.

Great food! I had the Cajun Salmon, bake potato & a salad. It was so good. We were with friends who had the Eggplant & Chicken Parmigiana; shrimp in puff pastry & Salmon with glazed pears. They have a diverse menu, servers were attentive, well staffed and comfortable atmosphere. I’ve had their«dry scallops» on a previous visit. A great restaurant. One of Scranton’s finest.

We eat at Sidel’s often. The food is consistantly delicious. Rich makes his specials very interesting so you have a new offering all the time. We bring our out of town company there all the time. Their Shrimp coctail is very good. The atmosphere is very comfortable, the service is great. It’s just a fun place to be.

Nice atmosphere, awesome portions of great food, excellent service, and reasonable prices. Can’t beat it! Baked clams weren’t the best I’ve had but the bacon wrapped shrimp was outstanding. All entrees were fresh and tasty and nicely presented. Two salmon dishes, stuffed flounder, and seafood au gratin were all good. Definitely need reservations in a weekend.

Food and service were fantastic. I had the chicken parm and my girlfriend had veal marsala. We went the weekend after Valentine’s Day and, as part of dinner, gave my girlfriend a flower and small box of chocolates. The staff made us feel very welcome and were always attentive. If you’re looking for a more intimate setting, ask to be seated in the back half of the restaurant. The front is more of a bar setup which isn’t ideal for a nice date night. Also recommend reservations on the weekend as the place was pretty packed on a Saturday night.

Food is fantastic. I recommend the veal chop, when available, with garlic butter sauce. Great quality ingredients in everything. I’ve had pasta dishes, other steaks, and seafood here. Everything is great. The atmosphere however is not quite up to par for the food. If eating in a dark bar doesn’t bother you, then you will enjoy Sidel’s.

This place has become our«go to» place for Ryon family dinners when relatives are in town to visit. The service is always amazing. You get alot of food for a reasonable price. The seafood au gratin is tremendous. Because I didn’t order an appetizer, I had room for desser– the Coconut cream pie was light and not over filling — very good ending to our dinner.

I visited Sidel’s after reading a couple of good reviews on Unilocal.I was very happy with my visit! I ordered a Mahi tuna special with new Zealand mussels. The price was right and the dish was amazing. I will be visiting again!

The restaurant is in the bottom of a renovated house. The room is nice without being too formal. The service was excellent and the food very good. They had a nicely varied menus with some very imaginative and delicious sounding dishes, especially the daily specials. Some sounded so good, I was tempted to try them and I don’t eat seafood. LOL!

I was visiting a relative in the hospital in Scranton and three of use went to Sidel’s Restaurant on Oct. 21, 2011 for dinner after searching various web sites for reviews and Sidel’s had good reviews. We were not disappointed in our choice. Two of us had the veal cutlet special rolled with crab meat with a wonderful garlic sauce while the other had a stuffed shrimp dish. Everyone was very pleased with their choices and our server, Judy gave us excellent service and she was very personable. After our meal, the chef came out to get our opinion on his cooking and we all gave him high reviews. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is very good with very creative dishes. Parking is avaivable behind the restaurant. Don’t judge this restaurant from the outside as the inside is very nicely decorated with two dining rooms. I also enjoyed the mild recorded music with our meal.

We just ate here last night for the first time. My in-laws go here all the time so we thought we’d give it a shot. Outside is kind of blah but the inside is a nice, cozy restaurant. Quiet, relaxed kind of vibe. Our dinners were really good. Big portions. We had so much left over we ended up getting a second meal out of it the next day. Overall a good dinner experience except that our waitress couldn’t seem less interested in waiting on us(the other waitresses seemed to be very attentive to their customers. Just our luck. We always get stuck with the shitty waitress). Not necessarily a kid friendly restaurant either but that’s ok, that’s not really what they’re going for. Wouldve given 4 stars if not for our waitress but we will go back again(we’ll make sure we get a different waitress. Then maybe I’ll give them the 4th star).

Nice urbane, cozy atmosphere inside(wouldn’t have guessed that from its exterior appearance.) Chill vibe, friendly staff. Food was good, but nothing to go far out of one’s way for. Solid neighborhood joint.
