AWESOME!!! I loved this place. Would give them 10 stars. Had their lentil soup and chicken shawarma, both delicious! Authentic middle eastern food. Flavorful and tasty. Cozy dining area, super clean. Open kitchen, always a plus. Fast and friendly service but not too intrusive. One of the best Lebanese restaurants in US. Definitely will be back. Highly recommended.

Finally had a chance to eat here after hearing about how great it was from my wife. The food was flavorful, fresh and fast. I love the fact that it’s an open kitchen so you can see the food being prepared and the cleanliness. Our server was very attentive without hovering. Will 100% be back and will highly recommend the place.

We visited here with friends over the weekend and it was delicious! Some of the highlights… A smaller dining area, but enough space that everyone is not on top of each other. ** Make reservations. BYOB but with a menu that is still reasonably priced! Generous portions– I had enough of my entrée to enjoy it again the next day for lunch. A garlic lovers dream! From the homemade hummus(which is available for purchase) to this amazing garlic spread that came with my meal… Yum! We will definitely be back again!

When I was in medical school this space was my home away from home. Everyone I brought here loved it. My girl friends and I would bring a bottle of wine here(BYOB), talk about our day and just share a family made meal. The food is phenomenal and authentic. I miss little about Scranton other than this and lake Scranton. I am grateful to have found a space that felt like home to me in this small town.

This is my first Unilocal review… Ever. I went here tonight after taking my 2 boys(4 and 7) to Steamtown. I enjoy Lebanese… my boys have had hummus and meatballs in the past. The service was prompt and efficient and friendly to my boys. The food was excellent, my picky eaters were satisfied by hummus, flatbread, kibbeh, and falafel. It was one of the best meals I’ve had out with the boys. My boys seem to only want pizza, hot dogs, PB&J or noodles… And they loved this place and ate some protein! Slam dunk for daddy.

Dined here for the first time last night. What an authentic Lebanese experience! Absolutely delicious food. Started out with grape leaves for an appetizer. They have two types — one with meat, one without. We had the one with meat. They came out warm on the plate — delicious! Next was lentil soup. This is the only reason I’m rating 4 stars instead of 5. I normally love lentil soup, but this just had a touch too much lemon for my taste. For my main entrée, I got the Kaffta meal. I was blown away! Two generously sized meat patties that are seasoned heavenly. Served with Lebanese rice and some hummus and pita. Everything on point! Hummus was amazing and very fresh! My boyfriend got the mixed grill plate. Equally delicious and satisfying. His came with a garlic spread instead of hummus. Just beware the spread is extremely potent and will leave you with crazy garlic breath… But for a garlic lover like myself, I love it! Highly recommend this family owned restaurant. Staff was VERY friendly! Can’t wait to come back!

Excellent Food. The food served here is absolutely exceptional. I have eaten here many times. My favorite is the Steak kabob. Absolutely cooked to perfection. The wait staff is excellent. It feels very comfortable there and waiter even remembers your name! Great place to check out!

The food was AMAZING! From the meat pie appetizer to lamb chops, then Baklava, for desert. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. We will definitely be back. We felt like we were transported to a far away, and exotic place. Very cozy, and inviting atmosphere. Service was also top notch, perfect pace in-between courses, and a very friendly staff.

Get the beef shawarma. This is one of my favorite meals on the globe. I’ve searched NYC for a comparable dish and no other plate of meat should bear the same name. I’m serious; I have to go to Scranton, PA for the best. Get the tahini AND the garlic paste if you can, and just throw a little of everything from the plate onto the pita. You need a dinner reservation on the weekends; so glad this place is getting recognized!

Having never tried Lebanese before going to Savory — I was little hesitant as to what the order. The staff was very helpful and steered me in the perfect direction! The chicken shawarma is cravable! Don’t forget the homemade hummus as an appetizer!

Excellent! I’m not from the area and was having a hard time finding a good place to eat for the 2 days I’m here. This one definitely hits the spot! Great spices and awesome service.

Albeit service being a little slow last night, the food is still out of this world. Had the lamb kebobs for the first time, medium-rare, and just about licked the plate clean. That with the garlicky tzatziki sauce and tabouli salad… ugh. To die for.

I have eaten here at least 25 times and every single time it is fabulous. The Tour of Lebanon is awesome… the hummus, to die for.

One of the best restaurants in the area! Love this place and love their food! You know its good when the grandmothers are in the back cooking from fresh. Wish they would make seasonal menu changes but what they got is all great! Love the Shwarma and garlic paste!

The atmosphere is clean and trendy, which I like. Parking is tough, but it’s in the city. The baklava with pistachios is light and crispy. The menu items are classic and the staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a great meal!

I won’t completely slam them with low stars(because I never did get to try the food) but I felt most unwelcome here. Saturday night, 8:00PM(they close at 9:30) we found them on Unilocal, liked what we saw and walked in without a reservation. There was an empty table for 2 and at least 2 other tables ready to vacate and a few more mostly through their meals. Asked if we had a reservation, we responded ‘no’ and we were told«‘we can’t help you». No, «I’m sorry we’re all booked». No, «would you care to sit at the bar?» No, «would you like to wait to see if something opens up?». No, «can we offer you take out?». Simply a gruff«we can’t help you». We left and, fortunately, had a great Thai dinner at our 2nd choice of restaurants.

Was here about a month ago with my wife. We had the Tour of Lebanon. It was awesome. Everything was awesome that actually. Here again today. It was not quite as awesome. The appetizers were amazing. The lentil soup was good. Two of my kids had falafel wraps– very good. My wife, my daughter, and had the beef shawarma. It was so sour. It was almost in edible. Everything else I have had there is very good. Hence why I give it four stars. I plan on going back. I just will not be getting the shawarma again.

The place i would say was pretty good but not great. Service was not very good had a young waitress that seemed more interested in texting than servicing her customers. But that said the food was pretty good i had the mixed grill kabobs the chicken was overcooked and a little dry, but i have had worse. Keep in mind they do not serve alcohol and it’s a BYOB which many people in the restaurant were doing Overall I would probably go back when in area

Savory Maza is run by the sweetest family. They have the most delicious food & always provide customers with excellent service. Our waitress Chrissy was exceptional. We got the hummus appetizer(so good) & I had the chicken for my entrée. As usual it was phenomenal. Also it’s BYOB so you won’t spend a ton on alcohol, just bring your own! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area and probably my favorite Arabic restaurant in the US. I have been going to Savory Maza for years and always have to stop in for dinner at least once whenever I visit my family in NEPA(I live in L.A.). Everything I’ve ever had here is delicious and fresh, and the family who owns the restaurant, and the staff are all super sweet. I’m part Lebanese, so my favorite dish is the Kibbeh/Kibbee Nayeh(Raw style kosher beef, cracked wheat, & spices) which is a special(I believe on Wednesdays). I also love the Fattoush salad, falafel, hummus, savory bread(AKA«dirty bread»), makdouss(stuffed pickled eggplant), grape leaves, tabouli, and meat pies. If I ever have room for dessert I usually get tea with fresh mint leaves, and the Esmalieh(light, shredded wheat with crème fresh, ricotta, and simple syrup) or the Knafe bel jeben(bake sweet cheese, semolina crust, in simple syrup). Just remember it is BYOB… We always remember to bring some red wine with us for dinner. I recommend this restaurant to all of my local friends, as well as to those who I know will be traveling through the area. If you love Arabic food, you should definitely not miss Savory Maza!
