We love this restaurant. This is our family’s favorite Italian restaurant. The service is great, the owners are so friendly, and the business is family operated. The food is excellent and delivery and take out are always on time. You can’t beat this place!

Excellent food and huge portions for a great price! Don’t forget to ask about their home made cakes and pies! Plus they deliver! What’s not to love?

Maria’s pizza is the best! My family and I have been coming here for at least 17 years. We always order the eggplant and plain pizza, and the eggplant parm is great as well. Hands down the best pizza in the area, we never go anywhere else. Also, the sizes are extremely generous every time.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. We go here on Sunday for pizza lunch after the kids finish up at the comic shop. Owners couldn’t be nicer! Pizza is delicious and prices are so fair! Get a whole pie(and it’s bigger than that huge silver tray) for like $ 11! They make you feel like family there. Love it. I’ve gone way out of my way for Maria’s pizza, and my town has about 12 pizza places!

Best pizza in town and yes we’ve(almost) tried them all. The interior is old school and quaint. The service is wonderful. Try the white pie with broccoli it’s my favorite.

The food here is as good as advertised. Everything I have had here, has been amazingly good. The arancini alone is worth the trip, but you will be hooked in for more. Be sure to call ahead if you plan on eating there, they are always packed.

Their bread is good. Crunchy outside and soft inside. But that’s pretty much all I have for positive thing to say. We ordered mussels, spaghetti with meatballs and lasagna. They all have the same watery salty sauce. My husbands meatball was mushy. It seemed like it was frozen and thawed in the microwave and dumped in the pool of sauce and pasta. My lasagna was not so good either. All I could taste was the watery salty sauce. My daughters cheese pizza was ordinary. The people were OK though. They were nice and attentive. But I just can’t say anything good about their food. I’m disappointed because we were craving for some good pasta. So one star for the bread and one star for the staff. However, I don’t recommend any of their food.

Not sure about the food didn’t get a chance to try it the people were so rude we left before we could order. We even had a $ 25 gift certificate, but it was not worth staying there for another minute. There was 4 of us in our party and we sat at the first of ~15 or so tables in a completely empty restaurant. It was about 10 degrees out and a bad draft coming threw front door so we wanted to move over a table and they told us rather rudely we weren’t allowed to sit there it was only for six people. We were the only customers. If they were nice about it it would have made all the difference.

Unbelievably disappointing. We ordered 2 pizzas, 3 tossed salads, and some buffalo wings. The salad dressing(house) was bland. The wings were mushy. The cheese pizza was fine. The pizza with pepperoni, mushroom and onion was undercooked, mushy(obviously the theme for the evening) and was not cut. In addition, when we opened the pizza box, the pie was folded over like a burrito. We attempted to unfold the pie which just made it look as if someone vomited in the box. I called the restaurant, spoke to a guy who was either the manager or owner. He offered to replace the pie if I drove back to the restaurant. Ridiculous. We live no more than 2 miles away. He could have had someone bring us a fresh pie. And his excuse for the uncut pie? «We were busy.» Well, you will be less busy– we will go back to our old place.

Good Italian hidden in the back lot next to John’s Meat Market. My wife and I take our daughter after we go to the library or Little Shop of Comics. The owners are very nice and treat my family very well. They take time to talk with my two year old and ask her what she wants to eat instead of us dictating what we think she wants. You get huge portions, especially the pizza slices, for extremely fair prices. Shrimp Parm is a real nice dish. We have had much success with the food when eating in. We have had trouble with the pizza at times when taking out, but I find this often with many restaurants and their takeout. It’s never as good as when you eat it there. Plus, my daughter gets her lollipop after dinner, a way I am able to persuade her to eat. It’s definitely a go to place for my family, and may I suggest if you do take out, to walk across the street and have a little picnic at the park.

Solid place for lunch and to grab a slice of pizza. The service is very good and the people who run the place are hardworking and nice. We have an office around the corner as we frequent this place when it comes to Italian food. If your in the Scotch Plains area this place is definitely worth a try.

Mike has done a wonderful job bringing Maria’s back to its original quality. In my humble opinion the best pizza in Scotch Plains!

The service was great. The owner gave me a very huge slice for $ 2. My only issue was that the pizza didn’t have a lot of flavor. But overall, it’s a great stop for a quick bite.

Dirty, and horrible food. Living in town I stopped in with my wife and daughter for lunch. My first thought was to leave. The place is dirty but just looking to have a slice of pizza or a sandwich we sat down. We ordered a regular slice of pizza a turkey sub and a slice of sausage pizza. The sausage slice I sent back. It was dried out and looked like it was sitting for days. The sandwich we picked though and left more then half of it. The regular slice of pizza was picked at also. The restroom was filthy. This place is a disgrace. My suggestion to the owner is to turn it into a shoe shine palor or close it

Edited: What happened? The food quality and taste has changed drastically. I certainly took note that my take out order was place in a box for me to carry that was stamped«Prego.» I sure hope they are not using Prego sauce, but I have a suspicion they are. 2011: My family comes to this local Italian restaurant at least once per month. What we love about it(besides the food) are the friendly owners and staff and the wonderfully bland interior. Maria’s doesn’t try to fool you with smoke and mirrors. What you get is a generous portion of pretty decent Italian food. I even forgive them for the lame dinner salad.
