My fiancé and I just moved to town and we’ve been trying out the local fare. Not only did the owner, john, sit us right down and pour us beers; he also gave us menu suggestions. The food was delicious. I had a bacon cheeseburger and my fiancé had a cheesesteak. The fries were fresh cut too, which is my favorite kind.
John and Millie were wonderful to us the whole time and we had a great conversation too. We only went in for dinner, but we ended up spending almost three hours there. I would recommend this place to anyone who is easy going and down to earth.

The Uptown Tavern is not your typical Schuylkill County dive. The environment is clean and pleasant and the owner is both friendly and entertaining. John knows how to make mixed drinks that pack a punch but don’t taste like battery acid. It’s also got the best bar food in the area by a long margin: big, juicy burgers, waffle fries, tasty wings, and great desserts. Also, they take credit/​debit cards, which can be handy.
I can’t believe the place has been open for ten years and I didn’t go in until last night. Highly recommended!

Customer service was fantastic!!! Owner made the night!!! He knows his drinks and made some sweeeeeet drinks!!! Fyi: adult chocolate milk shots!!! Scrumptious!
