Tops is a cool modern take on the traditional diner. Diners have always been older buildings, kind of run down, where all of the money goes back into food orders, staff, etc. Tops broke the mold and made a beautiful location that took it past the traditional diner and moved it into more of the restaurant category. Sticking with in my opinion one of the best aspects of a diner they still have a vast menu with lots of different choices. I have tried a few dishes over time now and am always pleasantly surprised. Pair that with the cool interior and great looking bar this is a nice place in an area that could use some unique places to eat!

Nice place to go and can get you in, even on really crowded nights. Only waited 20 mins for a party of 7. Portions are large and delicious. We have gone there many times and this past time on Saturday was a great experience! Our sever Amy, was the life of the party. Great spirit and sense of humor! Thanks for giving us a good time.

food ok, will not eat there again. I thought it was suppose to be real great place to eat, same old breakfast as any run of the mill dinner.

Breakfast all day was what brought me to Tops. Service was amazing! All of the staff were super friendly. I ordered the hash (made in house, not out of a can) and eggs. If you like corned beef hash, you will not be disappointed. Also, I asked if they had hollandaise sauce, as I didn’t see it on the menu. They made it to order, not a usual item they serve! In addition to that, $ 4 mimosas. Great experience all around!

Food was great! As per usual. But the service wasn’t too great. Think we saw our waitress 2 times during the whole experience. But other then that I cannot wait for the pumpkin cheesecake to come :)

I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Always so pleasant and really want you to enjoy your meal.
The food is always delicious. I only had one time me where my burger was over cooked but I ate it anyway because it was still delicious.
We come here during the week, on the weekends. They even have a beautiful bar! It’s a great mix of diner, pub and up scale foods. Always fresh and delicious.
Try the hash if your into that stuff! Superb!

Quite Improved… I gotta tell ya, for a while this place was going down hill, especially the service part of it but lately, it has DRASTICALLY improved. Not sure what’s different but it has changed for the best. The food has always been good but it’s good to see they’re getting their act together on the service part.

Always reliable food and service. The staff is so friendly and the selection of items on the menu is huge. We never fail to find something great to eat and frequently pick up dinner on the way home. We’ve learned not to go on sunday mid-​day since there can sometimes be large after-​church groups which can keep the place noisy and the staff a bit overwhelmed, but any other time of the week it is sure to please. This will continue to be one of our favorites!

Worst service ever. I brought my 79 year old mother in law here for lunch one day after a doctor visit. It took her about 5 minutes just to walk into this place, as her legs are not very good and she has trouble walking, even with her walker. We were seated and then promptly ignored completely. After waiting 15 to 20 minutes without so much as being acknowledged, we got up and left. There were several servers in sight standing around, talking to each other. I think this place was much better years ago before the big remodel. Never again.

Stopped here on a road trip from Boston, MA to Norwich, NY. So glad we did! Service was fantastic, food was good (burger could’ve used a little salt), and overall reasonable price! We’ll definitely make it a point to stop at Tops in the future.

I used to love this place when i was a kid but after they renovated their food quality went way downhill, appetizers and desserts are still alright, but main courses are not good. Haven’t given their breakfast a chance yet.

Our breakfast visit started off ok. The food was typical diner fare but I enjoyed the homefries. Halfway through our visit our waitress disappeared and we had to ask another member of the wait staff to get a take-​home container and our check.

It’s rare to find a place that has a big menu where everything is good. This place has that. Additionally grwat service and reasonable prices. They. make all their own desserts too!
Also very kid friendly.

Awesome service! Laura happily gave me recommendations on what to try. The food was so delicious and the cannoli was to die for! Fantastic experience, we will be back!

Had breakfast there that was great. The waitress Judy was excellent and always friendly. Don’t hesitate to stop by when in the area.

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast at around 9:30ish today (Sunday 02.01.2015). The place was packed. Waited perhaps 2 – 3 min for a table which was quick.
I had the Irish Benedict (includes corned beef hash). All I can say is that the corned beef hash and the home fries were absolutely awesome! The home fries were not an afterthought as many other eateries do (sadly). The entire dish was excellent. I am a transplant from Long Island/​NYC and can say that I have never tasted better CBH or home fries anywhere, bar none including Manhattan or Long Island.
My wife had the Eggs Benedict with spinach — which she liked very much except that the spinach was undercooked somewhat and there was entirely too much spinach on the plate (seriously overwhelmed the dish). You had better like spinach if you order this dish.
We have eaten here several times before and can say that the food is very good — yet the service does need some improvement (speed/​efficiency yet our servicer was very friendly). Note — I was going to knock the overall rating down a star based on the slow service (we walked out once about 2 years ago after waiting 20 minutes without anyone coming over to take our drinks or entre order yet the place was only 25% full) but feel today’s latency was due to 100% crowd capacity — and that wouldn’t be reasonable.
We are both fans and will be returning again.

Very slow service. I had the chicken and rice soup which was very good. But then waited a very long time for my chef salad and the hard boiled eggs were forgotten. The man next to me complained he had hair on his fries.

This place is a Rotterdam institution. The food is reliable, the service is always friendly and their wings are great! Perfect place for families.

A giant blonde brought me to the table, threw my menus down and left without a word. We weren’t acknowledged for ten minutes and since they weren’t serving breakfast anyway we left. That was a waste of a 45 minute wait and the time taken to write this piss-​poor review on my phone. I suggest driving to Capital City instead; it’s ten minutes away.
