We love, love, LOVE Dr. Hal and his staff. Seriously, if I could I’d clone the doc so my husband and I could keep going to his practice in spite of our move. We went to his practice when we lived in Schenectady, my in laws still go there, and I plan on initially bringing my little guy to Schenectady for his dentist appointments instead of trying to find a kiddo-friendly dentist in the city. Pros– 1) Doc Sossner is very interested in the latest in dental tech. If it’s out there, makes his patient’s lives easier, and is worth using… he uses it. 2) I used to have anxiety issues when it came to getting novocaine, and everyone was patient, reassuring, and calm… the result– no more novocaine fears. 3) Polaroids of smiling children in the dentist chair all over the walls near the front desk. I see my husband and brothers in law up on those walls… hoping for a smiling picture of my son before too long. 4) Super friendly hygienists and staff. Con– 1) We couldn’t take Hal with us to the city when we moved.

You know how everyone has their«bad dentist» story? Well this is where I had mine. Years ago, I went to Dr Sossner, who was going to remove two of my wisdom teeth. Since they were fully in, he decided that he could just pull them out using Novocaine and I wouldn’t need to go to an oral surgeon or go under anesthesia. After many shots of Novocaine, and laughing gas, which weren’t really helping the excruciating pain, the teeth were removed. This was one of the worst medical experiences of my life and consequently I stopped going to Dr Sossner after that. I have a friend who goes there who thinks he is great, which is why I gave him 2 stars, not 1, but I wouldn’t let this man back near my mouth with a 10 foot pole.
