I tried this place cause it’s within walking distance and was desperate for some fresh pizza. I ended up not only getting a slice of Mushroom pizza, but a half philly cheese chicken sub and garlic knots the size of my fists! The Knots were great and the sub was just perfect, even after I kept it in the fridge and reheated for a late dinner. The pizza was good but I cant say too much cause I ate it cold cause I got distracted once I got home. The prices are decent too — I would’ve given 5 stars but I was charged $ 2.00 for a gingerale that was marked at $ 1.86 but is honestly only worth $ 1. I know you gotta make money, but really? $ 2? Next time I wont buy a drink!

Here’s an example of a positive change. When Downtown Slices first opened, it was awful. I’m talking horrific. I went there a few times and the food was consistently awful and the service was nightmarishly slow. I believe in second chances and I came back to give Downtown Slices a shot at redemption. It’s not the same place I went to back then. Something changed(new manager/owner, maybe?) and I had a much more positive experience. It was pretty good. Not great, not bad, but pretty good. One of the things I found most surprising was the garlic knots that I had. I hate places like Paesan’s(at least the one in Rotterdam) where the garlic knots have been frozen and re-frozen so many times that by the time they’re actually served, they’re tough and bland. That wasn’t the case here at Downtown Slices. They were pretty good. The pizza was OK. The slices are a good size so one was enough for me, especially since I took on a few garlic knots with it. Pretty reasonable pricing. If I recall correctly it was $ 6 for a slice of pizza, some garlic knots and a large soda. So to summarize, it’s far from perfect but it’s better than the other shitty pizza options in downtown Schenectady.
