Denny’s

Good for the buck, service was okay. I recommend to anyone looking to fill their stomach late night/​early morning.

Standard Denny’s basically on a College campus (Union). I’ve never been disappointed.

The debris on the floor should have been the first clue… this is probably the dirtiest Denny’s I have been too. The coffee cup was dirty, the silverware was dirty, the oven mitt on my skillet was wet. The waitress was pleasant albeit service was very slow.

The waitress was excellent. The cook in the back barking his head off however is very unpleasant. He messed up our order several times and would scream at the waitress blaming her.

Strange Denny’s with the tables clustered in three rooms, none of them particularly well-​oriented to the kitchen or front door. The staff here have been plenty nice and the food reasonably prompt, albeit standard Denny’s, but the facilities are less than spotless, to put it nicely. Consider it as an emergency option for its extended hours, otherwise head over to Peter Pause or down State to the Blue Ribbon for more local color in the quick diner category without the Chain-​y-​ness.
Demerit for failing the coffee test, restored for letting one of our party order an off-​menu item.

Oh Denny’s, I know you are cheap, I know you are a chain, I know that your food is only «food», but I still expect some level of service that doesn’t include being lied to.
I ordered a simple chicken and avocado sandwich. Nothing spectacular, nothing complicated. I got the sandwich and took a bite. Not bad, I took another bite, hmm, I opened the bun, no avocado. I tell the waitress, who seemed genuinely surprised, she goes off to talk to the cook. She comes back a few minutes later and tells me that the cook said they were out of avocados. So, the cook decided to send out food that was missing one of the two main ingredients and just pretend like it was there? Just slide it in there and hope I don’t notice? Then I was told that maybe they did have some in the back, so I sat and waited, and waited and waited. And, no, they had no avocados. Oh, the manager came over and tried to make it out like he was at fault for not buying enough avocados, and that it wasn’t the cooks fault for sending out food he knew wasn’t right. They offered to make me something else, but at that point everyone else in my family had already finished their meals.
My kids got a free dessert, so I give them points for trying to fix the mess, but there was no apology for knowingly giving me food I didn’t order and trying to just pretend it was right.

Ok I know it’s a Denny’s and my expectations should be low — but this was horrible. I don’t even know where to start… On both occasions I’ve been to this Denny’s it was around 11 o’clock in the evening and on both occasions both of my servers (one a male one a female) had their cell phones in their aprons and it was going off! Not just buzzing, it was loudly playing some ghetto music! I stopped giving the waitress my order thinking maybe she would turn it off. But she didn’t, she proceeded to take our order like there was nothing wrong with it. This then happened again on my second visit with our male server. I could not believe what I was witnessing. There was also a little bug floating around in my creamer, when I showed the waitress she brought me what I thought was a whole new creamer container until after using it we found yet another bug! Or maybe the same one who knows. Where are the managers at this place??? Unbelievable.

This Denny’s is clean, fast and reliable. It gets pretty packed on Sunday mornings but other than that it is quite fast. Food is always good. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Cheap food. Kid friendly. Fast and friendly service.
