Clothes Mentor

When I call Clothes Mentor to see when I can bring items in to them, they always tell me they are being «selective» and act like they have no interest.
Last year, one of the women at Clothes Mentor tried to «rip off» a Dooney and Bourke handbag that I brought in. She told me she could not give me more than $ 25.00 for it (it was brand new), so I told her I would not leave it, I would use it. Then she proceeded to slyly lump it in with the other stuff I was leaving with them, thinking I would not notice. I called her on it and she gave the bag back to me, a bit embarrassed I might add.
Yup, I can totally understand why they closed!

I hate to give this even a one star. After having lost 75 lbs I purged my closet –most of it professional clothing. I bought most of my clothes from Talbots, Chicos, Coldwater Creek, etc so it was in fashion, clean and gently worn. They would not take a single item. It was more than three years old. True, but a classic wool blazer and skirt or pants, beautiful knit dresses, etc.-these do not go out of fashion in three years. I was stunned. They treated me as if I had brought in filthy, hideous rags. This is not the only time I have experienced this. My advice to anyone is to donate your clothing to a battered women’s shelter, or organizations that help people dress for job interviews. At least the staff and clients there are appreciative and you know the clothing will be put to good use.

I have been to clothes mentor as well as Platos closet a couple of times. I only bring name brand current styles in perfect condition. The girls that work there are rude and unprofessional and act like you are bothering them as soon as you walk in.
They told me almost all of the items I brought in were stained and or out of style and they were NOT! They only took a few things and I got a nominal compensation. They asked if I would like them to donate them… I think that they DONOT DONATE and they just put it out on their racks ! I decided to donate my clothes to a woman’s shelter and to Displaced Homemakers. I would not recommend these stores to anyone!
