Good spot. Tight bar/eating area but They have an upstairs. Very friendly, attentive service. Good beer selection, wings & starters plus burgers, pasta & specials. Awesome wings!

Wonderful food, amazing staff, nice and cozy– with awesome signed posters and dollar bills in the ceiling! Definetly found my bar that I will be frequenting often. We came in search of the deathwish coffee beer but they no longer had it on tap. However we were told where we could find it, and that my friends is true customer service. Their pulled pork is spot on! Definitely brining all my friends with me next time.

Was at the local hotel and went for a drink. Friendly owner and bartenders. After the wedding we were at a bunch of us went back for finger food and drinks. Not a bad venue.

Small bar restaurant downtown with a great crowd and pretty good food! The bar area is very small, but the crowd is mostly local, friendly and fun, so it is a great atmosphere. Wednesday night is trivia night at 8, and that is a do not miss. It is also right across the street from the Hampton Inn, so no taxi needed at the end of the night.

Always a great choice before a show at Proctors. Make reservations and allow time. Food is consistent pub food, I have eaten here a number of times before shows.

Really love this spot much more than i was first expecting. The Wednesday night trivia with Casey is super fun, I only wish it started a little earlier(currently 8:30.) We will be back on Wednesdays we want to stay or later than normal though, because this place is worth the rough Thursday morning. The current $ 3 draft special on Wednesdays also makes a visit a good idea! They run different food and beverage specials every night of the week, and often host various breweries for promo nights. Also — lots of room upstairs and a dart board, too. The food has gotten good reviews from my companions, but I’ve yet to eat more than a carrot. Next time bar food will be ordered for sure. Who’s in?

Disappointed. Cheese and ale soup was the consistency of water and barely warm. Expected a nice creamy soup, instead it was loaded with slightly undercooked potatoes, celery and bacon. Bacon that was crisp would have been a nice garnish on a proper cheese soup. This was a fail. You have to try to mess up a Caesar salad, but they did. Romaine should have been lightly dressed by tossing it with dressing in a bowl, rather it was tossed in the bowl and the dressing was likely squirted randomly on the greens. Not sure what the upcharge was for steak on the salad, it was tough and the bits scraped from the grill were not a pleasant addition. Croutons were stale and negligible. No desire to return. Server was pleasant or there wouldn’t even be one star.

Great neighborhood bar! Staff are always nice and patrons are a great mix of people! Wings are good, on the small side but wow spicy! Hot is extra hot! Wish they had more Gluten Free options or Turkey burgers as they have many burger specials but that’s ok for what it is…

We happened to try this cute little pub because we were staying at the Hampton Inn, across the street. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and made us feel at home. We also really enjoyed the talented 2 piece band that was performing. Next time we’re in the area, we’ll definitely return there.

Walked in with 4 adults and 2 kids at 7pm on a Saturday. Seen a group of people sitting in the back and they stared at us but said nothing. No one behind bar, so we sat at one of the few tables they had. After 10 minutes of sitting there and no one helping or even noticing we are there, we decided to wall out. Walked to Johnny’s near by but found out you needed reservations. I really wanted to try out the food at Backstage. Sorry I could not provide any details about the food or beverages.

Food is good. Got a meatball sub and it was HUGE. Fries are fresh. Only marking this down because of how small it is. It’s literally a bar with 6 tables.

First off, I love the name. We were invited by the new owner Brian, who is friendly and attentive, for an opening party after our show at Proctors Theatre. The bartender and the owner provided great service for our group. Great drinks and tasty food. In addition, they played the right music, since we are a young cast. Fun atmosphere.

I was in there last night for trivia. Service was okay, and I got the Clam Chowder which was reheated probably from 5 days ago. I was actually having a nice experience when from out of the nowhere the(new) Owner, Casey, started swearing me out. It was late into the night — probably 2AM. Everyone was having a great time. I don’t know if he didn’t like the way I looked, thought I was someone else, but I did absolutely nothing to prompt the behavior. And he wouldn’t stop screaming at me as I walked away from him. I didn’t even respond I just stared straight ahead to finish my drink and stared straight ahead at the bar. Trust me I have no personal vendetta, I just wanted to warn people. It was a bit scary for a minute there as I had to walk past this guy giving me menacing looks to get out the door when he kicked me out. Stay far away from this place. There are SO many good places in Schenectady. Do not give these people your business.

Great staff, decent beer, average food. I’ve been to the Backstage Pub a few times, which seems to get its name because of its location somewhat behind the prestigious Proctor’s Theatre. A bit off the beaten path, as its on a side street across from the OTB instead of on State Street, the Backstage creates a cozy atmosphere with a bar and dining area on the first floor, and a private room for parties and somesuch on the second floor. They also will show a fair selection of football games over the weekends as well, including the Red Zone Channel. The beer selection is decent, they have some regular brews on tap, as well as some rotating seasonal beers. The food, at least as I found, is average. They serve the standard pub fare and appetizers. I’ve had an appetizer and sub sampler, which was good, and the wings were good too. I wasn’t a big fan of the Philly cheese steak I ordered once, but that won’t deter me from ordering other food from the Backstage. See you there!

It was a decent place. I was surprised to walk in and find some good micro brews on tap. I had the chicken parm sandwich and it was good, not great, but good. The bartender, Summer, was really friendly and had a great personality.
