Schaumburg Park District CRC & Water Park

This place is awesome! Worth every penny! I went with a group of friends and our kids. It is nice and open, clean, and the staff is friendly. I love how organized they have it. I also appreciated the fact that they did not allow children in the hot tub. A lot of places post «no children» and then don’t enforce it. There were lanes for lap swim, which I personally appreciate because I like to get my exercise in. When you walk in, on the left there are two slides, one open and one tube. The blue tube on has an awesome unexpected drop! Next to that there is a large area for smaller children. Then you have a HUGE pool to enjoy swimming, and again the lanes for lap swim. To the right of that there is a plunge slide and a separate area with a diving board. Honestly this place has it all!!! The café has food at great prices, I got the kids a snack (chips & a chocolate milk were $ 2). There were plenty areas to sit throughout the facility. Locker rooms were very spacious and clean, separate showers with curtains and separate dressing rooms with curtains. I really appreciated the privacy!!! Good soap in the showers too!!! There is also a «family» locker room which is a nice size where whole families can go together (co ed). I seen someone come in with a small cooler too, so I believe they allow them, but don’t quote me.
I highly recommend this place!!! You will not be disappointed. There is also a park outside, picnic tables, gazebos to eat in.

I just took my son here a couple of days ago, their lifeguards are very alert. My son can be on his own in the water, this is a fun and safe place to be. Very close and convenient to our home as well.

Its a nice gym. the fitness center and the locker rooms are clean and the walking track is the best thing. The machines are clean. Nice friendly people come. The staff is always changing but thats ok. they all help. This place is better than all the fancy gyms in the area.

Great pools and fitness centers, especially for the reasonable cost.
Sometimes I am the only one in the big pool or the only one on the big gym court shooting baskets. I tell all my real estate clients about it and use it to sell Schaumburg.

I adore the CRC. I use the gym there and love that there is free Wi-​Fi so I can watch endless non sense on Netflix; if I forget my iPad I can plug into the TV’s on the cardio machines! Definitely makes the time go by faster.
My husband and I love the indoor track, there’s a decent amount of weights, and the people working out there are either normal or entertaining the way that I imagine interacting with the people from Pawnee, IN might be entertaining. And that is definitely a compliment.
Things that aren’t so great: I wish the weight room was either bigger or not crowded all of the time. It would be nice not to walk up and down stairs before and after a work out. And sometimes those entertaining patrons get a little loud, even when I’m blasting intellectually stimulating shows like She-​Ra through my headphones.
But then we factor in the hours (reasonable) and the price (even more reasonable). Added bonus is that it is super close to my house! All in all this place is a gem; I will happily give it 5 stars for what it is.

I’ve been a member for a number of years. I use the fitness center a few times a week. They have decent cardio equipment, track, machines, and a small free weight area. Depending on the day and time you go, you will either be waiting for a machine or have them to yourself. For the price I pay I am happy with the equipment available.

It’s a nice place to take the little ones so that they could unload some energy. It costs $ 3 per visit which is a pretty cheap price to ask. It’s basically an open gym of mats, slides, ball pits and various tiny tots equipment. That takes up half the room. The other half has toys, tiny tables, tiny chairs, and basketball nets for kids to play with. Starting at 12 pm is a bit inconvenient for us because that’s usually my daughter’s lunch time, but two hours of open play in an enclosed area for only $ 3 is definitely a pretty sweet deal.

Thus far, I love everything about Schaumburg Park District. When I was a wee little, I attended programs at the park district – it was my mother’s favorite place for us to take classes and activities, and she has passed the love onto me.
After being not-​so-​impressed with some other park districts in the past, I signed my daughter up for some camps/​classes here this summer instead of at our local park district. It was a little more expensive since we are out of district, but so far, we have gotten what we paid for in a GREAT way.
My son and daughter both love their swim classes and have learned SO much from them. My son is constantly asking if «it’s Tuesday yet» because that’s when his classes are. There are evening classes offered for the working parents which is something I definitely appreciate since I work til 6 every night.
I signed my son up for preschool here in the fall – they had a lot of classes and options which was great because we had a lot of choice in what class and what time to sign him up with. In the fall, I am going to sign my daughter up for dance class here as well. My son, too, if a boy’s class is offered :)
I am definitely a fan of this park district so far!

I just got a gym membership at the CRC and I love it!
The gym and facility are modern, clean, pleasant, and not overly busy. About ¹⁄₃^rd of the machines are full when I’m there (I go right after work). I only had to wait for a machine once.
There’s also lots of technological amenities, like charging/​AV cables for your iPods/​iPhones on the machines, personal TVs (which have basic cable, but you can also play video from your iDevice via the provided AV cables), and free wifi (good speed, too — very helpful for people like me who enjoy listening to Spotify or watching Netflix on their phones while working out).
A nice feature is the track, which runs through the work out area so you can easily switch from a warm-​up jog to whatever machine you want to use without having to move to a different part of the building. There’s also a stretching and floor exercise area on the other end of the track, away from the machines, and a separate room for weight-​lifting.
The locker rooms are really nice, comparable to a private gym, with privacy areas for changing, showers, hair dryers, suit dryers, and a sauna. The lockers are key-​based, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own lock.
I felt welcome and comfortable in this facility. There are no sales people to pressure or trap you like in private gyms, very straight-​forward memberships, and the clientele are of all ages and body types. The gym and pool are pretty much directly accessible from the locker rooms, so you don’t have to wander the main halls in your bathing suit or work out clothes. The check-​in process is very fast: Hand over your card and they give you your locker key and towel straight away. Very quick and hassle-​free.
Also, the pool is very reasonable. They let you bring toys into the pool and even have noodles and kickboards that you can use. They seem to be much more forgiving and relaxed about things than most public pools I’ve been to, and the lifeguards have always been friendly and helpful.
The CRC is definitely the best value for the money. The resident rates are dirt cheap, and the non-​resident rates are a good deal, too. There are no initial fees, and (although this info is missing on their website) you can pay your annual membership by the month (not the same as a month-​to-​month membership, which they also offer, but at higher prices). There are also many packages to choose from. Very affordable and flexible!
The only thing that is a MAJOR downside, and why this is four stars instead of five, is that they offer private parties in the waterpark. This means that the members can’t access the pool at all while these parties are going on! They tend to be between 5 or 6pm and 9pm, which is the period I am most likely to be using the pool, even on a weekend. I encourage anyone who wants to to have their party at the waterpark to do so, but PLEASE, for the consideration of the people who pay to use the facility, consider having it a semi-​private event instead?
Also, I too wish they would let Hoffman Estates residents have the resident rate, though. I live right on the border between Schaumburg and HE (I even have a Schaumburg library card) but I have to pay the non-​resident rate because even though my driver’s license says «Schaumburg», I am a HE resident on a technicality. The closest thing HEPD has is Prairie Stone, but it’s twice the price and way out of the way! That’s why, even though I’m not technically a resident of Schaumburg, I still chose to have a membership at their community center :)

Awesome I signed up for a class the day of it and missed the first one so they awesome front desk staff prorated it for me. I though that was very nice of her! She also got me all my sign in info to register for classes online and was very helpful.

Love the variety of classes and the play area. I just wish Hoffman Estates residents were eligible under the resident rate, especially since we are just down the street from the park district :(

This past weekend, February 13, 2011, while watching my kids in the water park, I noticed the Schaumburg Park District has made made available public Wifi. This is a FANTASTIC addition! Now, I can work online while the kids get to have a great time!

The Schaumburg CRC is a pretty nice place. While I live in Chicago, I visit this place at least once a month for the Schaumburg Area (Amateur) Radio Club meeting. As a side note, this is also the place where SARC offers on the first Sat. of each month the Amateur radio exams.
Overall this CRC offers something for everyone.

The Schaumburg Community Recreation Center and Water Park is an amazing place to take the family.
We just attended their Holiday Wonderland Festival and had the most incredible time!
They offered carnival games, face painting, photos with Santa, Funny Little People performance, Christmas Carolers, crafts, a balloon twister, oven baked cookies, a Moon Jump, and Inflatable slide. They also had a room where kids could write letters to Santa and give them to Mrs Clause to take home!
My little one had a blast! We were there for about 3 hours and the time just flew right by!
They also have an incredible indoor water park with slides, heated pool, etc. We loved it. I wish that the Chicago Park District offered as many cool, clean, safe events!
