They are closed!!! My fiancé and I got engaged on August 4th at the Chicago Botanic Garden and since we were somewhat near Schaumberg and went to Sabor Do Brasil back when it was in Orland, he wanted to surprise me by taking me here… yeah, they are definitely closed even though their website is still up, which is why he assumed they were still open. Don’t make the same mistake we did!

CLOSED How big of a joke is this place trying to play on their customers, excuse me, prospects… After trying to call this place at least 20 times over the course of 3 days(that’s probably 18 times too many, considering the voicemail was always full and you couldn’t get anyone on the phone), I decided to take a ride out to the restaurant to try to speak with someone in person. I was trying to plan my son’s baptism and thought this would have been a great place to have the event. I pulled up only to find a handwritten piece of paper on the inside of the door stating that«Sabor do Brasil is now closed» meaning, inevitably… Great, now how about updating your voicemail and website… too bad really, because I love the concept this place had — never got a chance to try it though. Try Texas de Brazil in Schaumburg if you really want to eat all you can eat meat.

Took a group of people to Sabor de Brazil in February. The service was outstanding and among the best of any Brazilian Steakhouse I’ve been to. The food, however, was not up to the standards of others. Too bad.

Came here on a Friday evening about 7:00. When pulling into the lot, I was apprehensive because there were very few cars. On a Friday? At 7? Not a good sign. Decided to go in anyway. As we were reaching the door, a couple was coming out so we asked them how their meal was since it appeared fairly vacant. They told us that it was very good and don’t worry. Upon entering towards the host stand, we were greeted nicely and shown our seating. Our waiter, Nick, came by and introduced himself, explained the menu and took our drink order. I ordered a martini — up. Small gripe here. It was not the greatest, not cold enough, too much vermouth. Oh well. Here is the lowdown on the food: Salad bar was decent, nice assortment of items. The roasted meats served by the gauchos were excellent. The house specialty, pichana, along with the beef ribs were especially tasty. In fact all of the meats I had were very good. Our whole group of four were in agreement on the quality. The service from all of the staff was very friendly and polite. Now back to my small gripe about my drink. When it came time to pay the bill, I saw there was an extra charge for having my martini«up». Huh? I asked what that was about and received an explanation that it was more expensive to make because it did not have ice. Once again, Huh? I then explained that a price for a martini should be one price and this is the first time I have ever seen something like an up-charge. Oh well. Overall, the restaurant had very good food, good service, dinner pricing was better than most Brazilian restaurants. Drinks, both hard and soft were pricey. I would give it a solid 4 if not for the ridiculous«up» charge. Hey, on second thought, I am still going to give it a 4 anyway. Everything else was at that level. Don’t be afraid to go here. It is a nice place with a nice atmosphere to go along with the food and service. They certainly deserve to be busier. Cheers to All.

Really great! A cut above Texas de Brazil in Woodfield, probably 2 cuts above, no pun intended. Wonderful salad bar with fresh salmon, olives with bite, roasted vegetables, asparagus — all top notch. Carlos, our server, was superb! We were given fried bananas, mashed potatos & rolls — all great. Meat was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and when you turn your hourglass to green signifying«bring it!» they do just that! Gauchos arrive in waves with long skewers of beef, chicken, pork lamb, etc. in all different cuts and styles and just the way you like it. Roast leg of lamb could well have been the best I’ve ever tasted. Flan at the end was simply the best! I’ve traveled in Europe and had the best Italian, been to Mexico, Caribbean, Hawaii and I’ve had some great food at great restaurants. this ranks right up ther as far as décor, music, service, food and I cannot forget good strong martinis made with only the best ingredients. Go there! Sincerely, Joe & Sharon Schmidt

I dined here for a company-sponsored function, so I can’t comment on the price, aside from assuming that a party of 15(with free-flowing booze) must have set the company back some serious bucks. I have two words that more or less succinctly say what I will prattle on about regardless: FUN and YUM Seriously, this is a great place. The décor and ambiance are nice — even the bathrooms are, well, very pretty. The salad bar includes many items you won’t see at a typical salad bar. I could have filled up on that alone. Artichokes? Asparagus? Baby mozzarella and other assorted cheeses? Portabello mushrooms? Imported olives? OMG. Yes, please! But it was not salad bar night for this shameless carnivore. In the words of Everlast, I CAMETOGETDOWN. And get down, I did. Chicken, beef, pork and lamb are in abundance here. Bawk, moo, oink, and baaa. It’s in situations like this that I feel bad for vegetarians. The grilled pineapple, fried bananas, and mashed potatoes complimented the endless array perfectly. Our Gauchos were friendly, funny, and were always there to ensure we had something on our plate. Our server was very friendly as well. Most of us groaned as we pushed away from the table, swearing it would be days until we would(or could) eat again. My only crit is that I think they rushed a little to service our party. A few rounds of meat were a little on the undercooked side. It wasn’t a big deal, but I wanted to mention it only because it was the reason for my rating of 4 stars instead of 5. Yep, most def. Yay! I’m a fan!

Excellent. We came down from Milwaukee to visit Texas Do Brazil and were disappointed. Another time we came and tried Sabor do Brasil, what a refreshing change. If you want authentic Brazilian BBQ, this is the place to go.

So I studied abroad in Brazil a few years ago while in college, and this is the first Brazilian steakhouse I’ve eaten at in the States. I love food & I love free food even better — my office came here for our holiday luncheon so I didn’t have to pay for anything. Let’s start with the service — the first person who greeted me was the woman handling the coat check & she was very friendly. We were told we could head to the salad bar straight off. I start to get a plate for the bar, and this random server rushes over, covers up the plates, and tells us the salad bar isn’t open yet. Excuse me? Other people are already at the salad bar, so she is clearly mistaken. I lift up the napkin, get my plate and keep it moving. From the salad bar I tried a roll, cheese, salami and this yummy garlicky white rice. It looks bland, but tasted really good. Once at the table, we were served fried bananas, polenta and mashed potatoes as sides for our meat. We also had the pão de queijo(cheesy bread) which is pretty much obligatory at a Brazilian steakhouse. On to the meat — everything was well-seasoned and hot and I kept eating well after I was full. Here’s what I tried: Medalhão de Frango — chicken breast wrapped in bacon Lombo de Porco — pork loin Medalhão de Filet — loin cut wrapped in bacon Fraldinha — bottom sirloin Picanha — rump roast I really enjoyed everything, especially the rump roast. The meat was tender & had a nice char on the outside. The grilled pineapple was also yummy & the added cinnamon reminded me of apple pie. I would give Sabor do Brasil 4 stars if it wasn’t for the server with the ‘tude. She was slow to clear our plates and saw that my water glass was empty but didn’t refill it. I understand we were a large party, but you should be able to provide good customer service regardless. I’d still give this restaurant another try and keep my fingers crossed for a better server next time.

This restaurant sits on the graveyard of the former ZED51, which replaced the late Sal and Carvao. As we have dined at all of the predecessors, as well as the local Texas de Brazil. Fogo de Chao and Churrasco Brazilian Steakhouse, the conclusion is that these Brazilian restaurants share many common attributes that feature extensive salad bar and broad quantities of grilled meats. Given limited differentiation, where one place stands apart from the rest lies in the ability to delivery the«dining experience.» And that’s even more true for the Brazilian concept of gauchos carving meats table-side. And the verdict for Sabor do Brazil is nice try but you failed to deliver that«experience.» Our experience was a tragic story of six hungry men, a postcard mailer, and the star character featuring The Scowling Waiter. This Nazi waiter had polished his ability to offend into a fine art. In fact, he was downright malicious. He was not pleased from the onset when handed the restaurant’s own promotion postcard for complimentary wine(one per diner up to 8). So he started by only serving only one glass. When questioned about the rest, he snapped back loudly and argued that it was unclear that everyone wanted wine. The evening progressed downhill from there. Even as our plates piled high with bones and scraps, the Scowling Waiter stood by to watch until a passing server finally flagged a busboy over to clear the congested table. The Scowler would stop by to exact his piercing stare whenever we kept the gauchos busy. What was more offensive was when he would utter comments in Portuguese(or Spanish) to the gauchos while gesturing his eyes toward us whenever they stopped by. His final act of atrocity was to stand by the table waiting for us to pay the check. He hovered back and forth as we figured out each person share and pooled our payment. To be fair, we still left the minimum 15% as the gauchos deserve the credit for their work. When he took the check folder, he stood by the table to inspect the check(probably looking at the gratuity) and smacked it closed before walking away. Reviews for restaurants are generally meant to be about the food. But this is is an exception as Sabor do Brazil is undeserving of this recognition. Earning a review is a privilege, not a right. With the missing experience, this restaurant failed to deliver its value proposition. While the food was fairly well prepared without excessive salt(though the leg of lambs came out too raw several times) and the gauchos were friendly and efficient, all it took was one venomous cast member to rain out the whole show. I highly doubt we will return again nor recommend it to anyone for fear of risking future dining experience being ravaged by the one and the only Scowling Waiter. Note: We complimented our opinion of the food to the manager and also expressed our outright displeasure upon leaving. We hope the restaurant took the appropriate remedial action promptly.

This review is based on the one in Orland Park, that they told all their customers that they were moving to Mokena, and never did. Their food is minimal, their service is lacking and I feel, for those prices I would rather go to a real brazillian restaurant such as Fogo De Chao, they cant even come close to the quality. I was seated in the way back section of the restaurant, where they hardly came around with meat. What a waste.

I’m not sure why there are not more reviews on this restaurant. We had a great experience beginning with being seated immediately. We didn’t even need a reservation. Although, as more people learn about this little gem, that may change. The service was excellent and servers seemed genuinely helpful. Drinks were refilled immediately, even water. Gauchos were instantly available and anytime we asked for another meat or bread basket, it was at our table in under a minute. The men in our party had the full meat, sides, salad bar and dessert. We’ve been to Fogo and my husband said the meat was equally as good here at Sabor(for much less cost and closer to home, plenty of parking). Their favorite cut of meat was the rump roast, which surprised me. The cheesy biscuits are actually so much better than other Brazilian steakhouses. Very warm, very fresh. I opted for just the salad bar. I know, crazy, right? But I’m not much of a meat eater. Their salad bar had about the same amount of choices as Fogo. I took a couple scoops of the chicken salad and made a sandwich with the cheesy biscuits. Awesome. The salad bar also had warm beans and rice, a very good pasta salad, orzo salad, and a waldorf type salad, besides all the other choices. I don’t eat mushrooms or seafood, but they did have shrimp, a couple different mushrooms, and a salmon. My husband and father-in-law would have married the grilled pineapple if it were legal. In a casual conversation with the hostess, I let it slip we were taking my father-in-law out for his bday. The staff came over and sang«happy birthday» in 2 different languages. They even gave him his own homemade flan. I’m not a fan of flan, but I actually ate a couple spoonfuls. Pretty decent. My husband ordered the crème brûlée. Very, very good. Since Brazilian steakhouses are pricey, I would not rush back to pay $ 18 for a salad bar and sides(garlic mashed potatoes, fried polenta, cheesy biscuits, bananas), but for those carnivores who love their meat, the $ 37 price tag was probably worth the amount of meat I watched family members consume. I think for those in the nw suburbs, this is a much more convenient and affordable choice compared to the downtown locations. It would be a very nice place to take clients or as a special occasion. Well done, Sabor do Brasil!

This restaurant opened up 2 weeks ago. They are in the same location as Sal and Carvao used to be. Layout and set up is the exact same. Food is slightly different. They told us the Orland Park location has closed down and they relocated to Schaumburg. Great for us since we love Brazilian food! The salad bar was delicious. Nice variety. They had rice and beans(but not the black beans). Polenta, garlic mashed potatoes, cheesey bread and fried bananas are served with your meat dishes. The goucho’s(sp?) were great. They remembered the cuts we preferred and the meats we declined. Waiter made sure our drinks were always full. Great service, wonderful food and a complimentary dessert. Reasonably priced at $ 36.99 per person.
