My nerdy husband LOVES this store. I think it’s pretty cool and all, but this store is like crack for him. He starts shaking when we get near, and his eyes dart around when we start to pass the surrounding stores. He just can’t get enough! They carry a lot of your standard games, but they also have a lot of other games like«Red Dragon Inn» that my husband had only previously found online. And the staff is helpful, too. I will be back for my «gaming» needs… if I ever end up having any…

The now named Gamers World is like the UK. It’s all that remains of a once mighty empire. At one point in time every mall in Chicagoland, even Water Tower Place, had one of these geek paradises, but alas, this renamed Woodfield outpost is the last shining beacon left. But don’t let that make you think it’s any less great than it used to be. It’s not, it’s just all the awesomeness jammed into one handy location. In terms of games, this place has everything. If they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist, you imagined it to the point it became real, and there are lots of great anti-psychotics on the market that can deal with those delusions. Either that, or they’re currently out of stock and can order it back in, but seriously, Abilify, it does wonders. Their selections ranges from the casual games like Uno or Monopoly(yeah, casual murder-inducing) to more middle of the road party games like Trivial Pursuit or Apples to Apples to the hardcore like those made by Fantasy Flight or by guys with names like Klaus and Hans who are treated like movie stars in Germany(I may have made that last thing up). They even have a few«adult» games tucked in a corner somewhere, but if you want those, you disgust me… seriously, you should be ashamed… They also have the guide books for every tabletop RPG known to man and some that might have been made by alien civilizations(shoot, I’m out of Abilify). There’s also a large amount of geeky collectibles, mostly Star Wars related, which is all anyone needs. This includes action figures from the Power of the Force 2 line released from 95 – 99. Didn’t get your hands on that impossible to find Princess Leia as Jabba’s Prisoner figure back in 97? Pretty sure I saw it there. There are also a few figures for some cheesy piece of junk called… Star Track? I dunno, never heard of it. Sounds like something for people who aren’t cool enough to like Star Wars. The best part of this place really is the employees. The guys who work there have played nearly every game in the store. Not sure if that Pandemic game sounds any good? They can tell you, in the detail only a truly dedicated geek can, just what kind of game it is. Not sure which D&D manuals you need to get a gaming group started… they do. If there’s one complaint about the place it’s that it can be a tiny bit pricey. But these games are a bit hard to find, so supply and demand I guess. Some of these games can be found in online stores, but when you factor in the usual ~10 dollar shipping, it actually comes out a tiny bit less to buy it in person, even if the base price is a tiny bit higher at Gamers. So need a good game to entertain and bemuse others? Perfect place to go. Have a strange nephew with whom you have nothing in common and can’t figure out what to buy him for his birthday? Perfect place to go. A closet geek who occasionally needs something to fulfill those urges in such a way that your secret never gets out… well you get the idea.

i have to admit — i am a life long gamer. This place is pretty large and carry a wide variety of games, role playing aids, miniatures and collectibles and more. I have bene in the place 2 times and each time the staff was friendly and helpful each time. I was able to find some old school D&D products which is cool. If you like games check this place out!

Old school D&D fan represent! I always liked this store, and it always carried alot of items that were hard to find at any other store, but the harsh reality is that they have pretty high prices. If you need any type of role playing game books, video games for most major systems, and all manner of board games and card games, this is your place. They also have a solid collection of collectible figurines and toys, as well as oddball toys. If you have a little geek in you, this is the place, just bring some extra cash. They have enabled me to achieve my lifelong dream, my lightsaber collection.
