I wanted to be really excited! I love Disney and was super excited to find some of the great things found at DisneyWorld. Unfortunately the person working there didn’t say hello or goodbye. No acknowledgment at all. No how are you. No what are you looking for ??? It’s sad that this is the experience because my partner and I are Disney obsessed and would certainly love to have a place local… too bad this is NOT it ! The two stars are for my sheer excitement upon finding the place. The 3 missing stars are sheer disappointment !

The people working in this store are so rude. They barely say hello when you walk in and don’t get off their seat at the front to say anything to you. Guess they just assume that person won’t buy anything. Well you are right when someone doesn’t get greeted or even feel welcome in the store. Now onto the prices, most prices are high so don’t even bother going in if you are looking for something cheap for your kids room. Not gonna happen unless you are looking for the cheap prints from a printer for $ 20.00

As a Disney lover, I was really excited to find this place, but that all ended the moment we walked in. I will NEVER buy a single thing from this store. The person working that day(owner I think) was a total jerk! He was not in the least bit friendly, was pompus, asinine, and the anthisis of everything Disney embodies. How he wound up selling Disney art is beyond me. Unprovoked, he rose his voice at us more than once telling us how many years he has in this industry and how much he knows; which apparently is everything. He completely blew up when we queried him about animation cels! He said animation cels aren’t worth anything. While this might be the case, I’m no expert, he didn’t want to educate us on the error of our ways, or bring us up to speed on the trending market, he only wanted to lecture us(loudly and rudely) on how dumb and out of the loop we were. Sorry we asked buddy! He said(among other things), «No child wants their parents cels. They spend their entire childhood staring at the thing, being told not to touch it, and having to clean it all the time, that they don’t want it anymore.» I’m sorry, sir, but you have no idea how a child feels about his/her parents things. This might be the way YOU feel, but that can, by NO means, be a blanket statement. He continued his rant about cels and said, «Since these artists are now dead, there is no personal connection to them anymore and people don’t care about their work!» While I understand the desire to meet the artists and such, I’m completely dumbfounded at this point! I mean, seriously?! Then apparently a Caravaggio isn’t worth anything, since I never met him, and I should back my car over a Picasso because he’s dead too. TRASH! All of it! While there are fun things in this store, I wouldn’t give this man a DIME, let alone another minute of my time.

I’ve never been a Disney girl. Princesses and talking animals aren’t really my thing. I’m cool with Mickey, but I’m not cool with storylines where the poor girl needs to be rescued by a man(it is my humble opinion that a woman can rescue herself) or real historic stories that have made-up Disney happy endings(Pocahontas, anyone?). But hey, whatever gives people hope and dreams, right? That’s what Disney does. However, some of my friends are Disney fanatics and Disney is starting to grow on me. Just a little bit. So, out of curiosity and a need of some holiday gift inspiration, I decided to visit the Disney Gallery this afternoon and see what they have. I was pleasantly surprised. Almost impressed, actually. The Disney Gallery is basically a store that sells a variety of Disney fine art paintings by licensed Disney artists(from California). Each artist has their own section with their paintings on display. The paintings are breathtakingly gorgeous recreations of scenes from Disney films as well as painted portraits of different characters. Each artist has their own style — you can get old-timey paintings of Mickey or colorful paintings of the Disney princesses or fun paintings of Disney characters doing different things. I particularly liked a painting on display that showed different Disney characters at the drive-in theater watching Lady and the Tramp. I also liked the Nighmare Before Christmas paintings, which were probably the only ones I could see actually being on my walls at home. The store also has some little expensive Disney figurines as well as a small collection of Disney pop art by Romero Britto. The multicolored Disney pop art adorned with love and peace symbols are fun. They had little figurines, stuffed bears, keychains, notepads, and such. You won’t find any animation cells, art books, or cheap Disney memorabilia here. Everything is expensive. It IS Disney. Also, the two people working in the store this afternoon were bubbling over with friendliness and a passion for the Disney arts. It was refreshing to see people that were really passionate about the items in their store. My anti-Disney bias aside, this store was pretty cool. If you’re a Disney fan, get yourself over here now so you can drool over the paintings!
