First time I went here was last month and came back again for more plants. LOVE this place! Sad to see it is a bit run down, but that is just window dressing. What matters is that they have tons of healthy plants and the prices are fabulous! I will be back for more annuals in the next few days.

I love this place. This is what a nursery should be. Beautiful plants, helpful staff and reasonable prices. Support your local small businesses!

Sprainbrook Nursery has converted to a natural methods operation in the last couple of years. They are great if you want to learn to do it yourself in a natural and sustainable way. If you’re looking for someone to teach you how to manage a problem in your garden or start a new project without buying a carload of plastic trinkets or harmful chemicals, this is your spot. We stopped in recently and they had at least two dozen varieties of healthy vegetable seedlings, some from certified organic seeds. The peas and parsley we picked up are doing great in the ground. Al has also written down knowledge passed down through his family and gleaned from his own experience. He has photocopies of a few key excerpts and will open the book up to answer particular questions, but if you want to have local wisdom at your fingertips, you can buy a copy on site. He can also tell you about some great new projects they’re working on, like an experimental year-round vegetable garden heated by compost.(Al gave a copy of drawn plans and explanations to help us build our own.) Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, but teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime. If you want to learn something valuable, don’t just pick up supplies at a big box store. Check out Sprainbrook Nursery to really enrich yourself and your garden!

Very good selection of organic lawn and plant soil, food, etcetera. The owner has extensive knowledge and is always very helpful with lawn care and gardening tips. He even showed us how to build a simple composter with chicken wire. So sad it is so run down. I wish someone can acquire the owner’s passion and knowledge and help them turn it around. I have a feeling that many other people feel the same since I always see people there. Not many but enough.
