We went for breakfast and enjoyed sitting on the patio. Very clean restaurant, friendly staff. Only legit biscuits I’ve had in the northeast! Great diner food, eggs cooked perfectly. Thanks, Deja for taking such good care of us!

This location has changed names and ownership a few times, but the food has been consistently good and a wide array of fresh food. Great for breakfast or lunch

The restaurant is no longer called«ROCKANDROLLDINER» it is now called«BLASTFROMTHEPAST» … It’s under new management and the food is a lot better… I went in about a year ago and wasn’t a big fan… But figured I would go back and give the place a second chance… The food is always fresh and you don’t wait long. I took one star off because of a few of the waitresses… Half of them are great… And the other half are not… When I go in… I am always hoping Deja or Kelly are working… They are always friendly and make you feel welcome… No attitudes. A few of the other girls are not as pleasant … I often feel they are just punching the clock… If the management is reading this… You may want to start putting out feedback cards so you can get a good idea of what people think of your wait staff…(just a thought) Other than that… Things are great! I would recommend this diner to anyone. I’m there a lot since my studio is a few buildings down the street. The price is right too… I like how they are always running specials and the owner is very nice and seems to have a pretty good grasp on things for the most part. It’s very clean… I actually got a tour of the kitchen and they keep it spotless !! I was very impressed! Plenty of parking and great dessert menu.

We thought that we’d try this place in the off-season. Looks pretty full during the tourist season. It was bright and very clean inside. Had a definite 1950’s theme to it. Waitress was professional and prompt. Menu had the basics that you’d expect in a diner with a few things you would expect in Maine like fried shrimp. I had a bacon medium well cheeseburger with onion rings and a strawberry shake. The burger was cooked well done, tasty but a little dry. The onion rings and shake were great. My wife had fish and chips and a shake. She loved the light, cornmeal based fish batter. She found the fries very good and also enjoyed her shake.

Not really a real diner… food was alright. Cafeteria type food. Nothing unique or exceptional.

This place is a little confusing. I’ve never been to a quiet diner, let alone one with ‘rock ‘n roll’ in the title. There was no music playing and every table was just kind of sitting and staring at each other. Our server was friendly, but the service was still lacking. I just don’t think it’s worth a trip. My burger was good, though, which is part of my two stars. Overall, an awkward experience.

This place is just bad news. Came here with my dad and sister, we were seated immediately on the patio. Our table and chairs were locked and we had to untangle them. We waited on the patio for about 10 minutes before I think Linda came over. She said«I don’t know who was supposed to take you but I guess I just will». Okay lady thanks for doing us the favor. We ordered an omelet, bacon and eggs and steak and eggs(medium rare) We waited 40 minutes, no explanation as for why, before our food came. The steak was medium well… No pink at all. Our toast was just not toasted. It was just bread, floppy old bread. The food was just okay. The homefries were the best part but not worth another visit. We had to seek Linda out to get our check. BTW each one of us got diarrhea. Writing this review from a mobile bathroom down the road. You’re wasting your time coming here, bad service, okay food, explosive diarrehea.

The food here was really, really good. There was a fairly long wait for our food, that’s the only thing keeping me from giving the Rock ‘N Roll Diner 5 stars. The pizza was awesome! Thin crust, tangy sauce and thick, gooey cheese. My wife raved about the cole slaw. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.

Our family vacations in Saco and we have eaten out all around the area. The dinner we had during a torrential downpour in June was very good. It was a tuesday night, 5 people, 4 different dinners(pizza, fried chicken, burgers, BLT). All were very good, served hot and were tasty. No one had a complaint. One thing we noticed was fewer wait staff then expected, but it barely affected the service(our waitress Rachel was very good and she kept cleaning up other tables in between serving our family) For us, a pleasant surprise in Scarborough. We’ll be back. NOTE: Rock & Roll Diner changed in 2013 to Blast From the Past — under new ownership. Re-Visited in July 2015. Good crew there, very attentive, energetic. Still very clean, little details are good, wait staff keeps place very clean. Food is a little above average, burgers are very good, milk shakes and desserts are good. Fresh baked breads.

My boyfriend and I went to this diner after camping down the street on Memorial day weekend. I try the eggs benedict everywhere I go. I ordered them and the waitress came back and said«how do you want those eggs?» I’m like ummm poached! duh! Both my eggs were rock solid inside when i received them. Seriously? It would have been closer if I said over easy. If you can’t cook an egg you shouldn’t be working at a diner. You should be an expert. Just saying. My ham… I usually expect canadian bacon but have come to realize maybe places do not serve it. They serve the gross salty ham. Not this place. They gave me deli meat! Haven’t seen that before. Very strange. My boyfriend ordered orange juice and the only way to describe it is it tasted like it came out of one of those frozen juice cans that you get at the grocery store. It was watery and gross… ugh! Sunny D would have been better! Now the second star… the coffee. I HATE diner coffee, I’ve never found a coffee I like at a breakfast place and this place has rock star coffee. I drank it before my food arrived and I usually never touch it. Go here for some awesome coffee. Its so good I would go there just to drink the coffee despite my hatred for the rest of the food. I may give it another try but meh… not if I find another place in the Scarborough area that’s better. Sorry guys but you had one job, to cook an easy breakfast and you failed at that. You weren’t even busy. ;-/

Came here about 2 years ago and it wasn’t great… Since they advertised that they had changed some things we decided to give it another try. I wish I didn’t. Firstly I have never been to a diner that doesn’t serve breakfast all day. Just. Crazy! S since pancakes were not available at 1pm on a Sunday I settled for a fish sandwich and fries. The fish was large so if you were really hungry that’s a bonus but it was just okay. The fries were underdone and limp and I don’t personally think crinkle fries are diner fare. The root beer float was good. Calling yourself the rock and roll dinner… I expect some rock and roll. You could have heard a pin drop in this place… The jukebox played a song about every 7 minutes… Just one song… We won’t be back

Seven of us stopped here as a respite from the local surf and turf. Service was friendly, but the meals were mixed. Poutine: one of my favorite guilty pleasure foods, we got two plates for everyone. It was just okay, though, with not nearly enough gravy. B. Ziti: Two of my kids had pasta, and they both came swimming in watery tomato sauce. D. Buffalo Chicken Wraps: two of us had this and both liked it fine. B+. Hit n Run burger: okay. B. I can’t recall what the other dishes were, but we left being pretty sure we wouldn’t come back.

My wife and I had breakfast here. We both ordered 2 eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast. It all was cooked well but then again, nothing special. Our server was hard to find at times as we needed refills for water and coffee. She did apologize for coming sooner to see if we needed something else. Apology accepted. Décor was retro diner and cute. Prices were perfect for what we ate. Because of the prices, I might go back.

Very disappointed by the slow and rude waitress. 2 other servers had to go get her for us twice. Once to take our order, once for the check. She didn’t bring us our food or check on us. Worst service I have ever gotten. It’s too bad, the pancakes were good, as well as the potatos and the other waitresses seemed nice. Unfortunately, the service was so bad that we will not be back.

Stopped in for breakfast. Pretty solid diner food in a cool retro atmosphere. I had some pretty good corned beef hash and eggs along with deep fried potatoes. I’m sorry I didn’t try the blueberry pancakes. A couple of orders went by and they looked slam full of berries. The staff was very nice, service was quick and our coffee cups were kept full. I’d go again.

Three stars for the«BETTYBOOP» tin sign and the chocolate shakes! This place is just alright! From the outside you would definitely want to give it 5 stars. It looks absolutely amazing. But, It’s just your ordinary diner. I’ve eaten here three times. I had shepard’s pie. It was alright. I also had a cheeseburger and it was alright, also! My Husband always has breakfast every time here is there. He loves it.

Had lunch recently at this retro 1950s diner with shiny stainless steel on the outside. Once inside, it’s a blast from the past with the jukebox bopping out oldies, black & white checkerboard floors, shiny red/white vinyl seating(booths, tables, & lunch counter stools), and classic pictures on the walls(US Route 66, Pepsi Cola, Shell Gas, Wrigley’s, Harley Davidson, & more). I was seated a table on the patio since it was a very nice day outside. The menu offers breakfast(served daily until noon), soups, salads, chili, burgers(Certified Angus Beef), hot dogs, 9″ pizza, sandwiches, wraps, subs, entrees(pasta, seafood, steak, chicken, comfort foods), desserts(pies, ice cream treats, puddings), Pepsi fountain drinks, and Be-Bop(kids) menu. The specials offered were pork pie, lobster roll, and pot roast dinner. The menu has some cool names such as Heartbreaker Tuna Melt, Surfin Safari(fried haddock sandwich), Rockin Robin Egg Salad, Hound Dog Chili Dog, Love Me Tenders, and Hippy Hippy Shakes. The prices are reasonable with most items priced under $ 10. The most expensive entre was the Angus Beef 8oz Sirloin Steak Dinner for $ 13.99. Beer & wine served here. Beer is served in a glass jar mug. I ordered a Diet Coke($ 1.99 free refills) and the Free Bird Grilled Chicken Sandwich($ 5.99) with fries. The sandwich was okay, which a grilled chicken patty(seemed like frozen patty then grilled), leaf lettuce, and tomato slices with a side of mayo. The crinkle cut fries were decent. Overall, the food was decent, but average and I could’ve given this place 3STARS. However, the service on the patio was exceptional and attentive. The waitress(Cynthia) was very charismatic and did a fantastic job of taking care of all the tables on the patio, checking up on everybody, offering refills on drinks, bringing the food out quickly, and clearing tables. Add 1STAR for the great service. OPENDAILY: 7AM-9PM Cruise Night every Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM
