Charm’s Jamaican Cuisine

The first time I tasted the food, it was concluded that I would not return. The food was bland as if it was cooked for a senior care center; no pun intended as I love the seniors. However, I gave it a second try as a friend purchased the food for me and it was better, BUT the rice still needed more flavor. The only thing I would crave from there is the carrot cake, it was Delicious. If she or someone from her team reads the reviews and add some seasoning to the rice, they will do much better.

I had a good experience here. My wife and I got the Jerk chicken. The chicken was really good. I didn’t care for the rice to much. It didn’t have flavor. The vegetables were good as well as the sweet plantains. It was only the rice that needed a little more flavor.
I am from the islands and thought the chicken was definitely authentic. The place was super clean and the owner was very nice. She thanked me for coming and was pleasant. I support small business and anyone bringing something different to the community.

This is a restaurant owned by a woman that loves to cook and put love into her food. I felt like I walked into her kitchen a clean, bright kitchen where I was welcome to sit for a while and enjoy home cooking and maybe a little ribbing if she knew me better. I giggle about the couple that slammed her with a 1 review because I had a similar experience but very different interpretation. It is the kind of place you ask for what you want, you ask for details to figure out what you want and you get it. She’s a gifted cook and strikes me as open hearted and not likely to b.s. Good food, (be sure to tell her to bring on the spice if you want it) huge portions, clean and comfortable environment but not fancy. Good for kids. Plaza had me a little concerned but it’s worth it! (Her choice was based on startup cost… I’d love to see her thrive and move.)

I will never be going there again! My family and I went there because I wanted to try Jamaican food I was not impress at all. First we walked in the restaurant was empty, what I’m assuming was the owner was sitting watching TV in which was ok but said oh I have to get up now. We didn’t feel welcome at all. We had to seat our self, get our own menu’s, our drinks and when I ask what did she recommend she rolled her eyes and said you like spicy? As a server I know that she could’ve been more enthusiastic in selling or serving. I gave her an open door to sell and make money. I Placed my own order for appetizers. She took my dinner order wrong and when I told her she said no you told me that, I said no problem, I only picked on my food I left the rest on the plate she never even came back to check on us or ask me if I want to take the rest home in which i didn’t because it lack flavor. It’s sad when the only good thing was the soda and I’m not even a soda drinker she didn’t even offer dessert i had to get up and ask for the check, the only good thing I have to say about the place was that it was clean otherwise I would never ever go there again.

Service was very lack luster and the foods wasn’t all that great. The waitress made us feel very unwelcome and she seemed like she didn’t want to work. She even said «now i have to get up» as we entered the place. The food was average and lacked flavor. The only positive note I can say is that the place was very clean. Other than that, I really have nothing good to say about this place. I would not recommend this place and Will not be visiting again.

Guess who has their lunch figured out for tomorrow :) plenty of food to split for two meals! Rice and everything was moist and flavorful and a sprig of thyme (I am guessing it’s thyme). I am looking forward to going back and trying more of their dishes. Easy enough to call ahead and pick it up on my way home. New place, not a year yet – definitely worth trying if you love good food that authentic and fresh.
