Cheap beer, good food, great service! A fun venue in Sayreville, Brick House Bar & Grill mixes it’s neighborhood atmosphere with a sports bar offering plenty of TVs over-top of the bar, multiple drink specials, plus delectable platters served from a friendly staff. Certainly a great place to stop off at if you’re heading to the Starland Ballroom and want to grab some food and drinks beforehand, or a great place to meet up with a couple friends and catch whatever game is going on that night. They’re more than happy to change the channels to watch the game that you want to see on the screens. They have a ping pong table there as well which I’m sure converts into a beer pong table on certain nights no I haven’t seen it myself. We ordered some beers and wings they do have PBR at $ 2 so if you’re going cheap I can always recommend that. I went with the«Bomber Burger» that came with blue cheese, bacon and nice & crunchy fries. The wings were amazing and offer a variety of spices, not to mention multiple options that are deep fried in deliciousness that pair perfectly with any beer you decide the order. It often seems like you as far as the staff, which can be in your orders don’t come in as quickly as you may want them if you’re in a large group. Other than that though they are very friendly and a willing to make recommendations for you as well if you’ve never been there before. Seating was a little tight for our group of 9 as most the tables are 4 – 5 people setups, but we made it work.

Zero stars if I could. While I will say the wait staff is nice and attentive it all comes down to who represents the business. The management is rude and uneducated. They speak like they’re in fifth grade and put their hands in your face and scream at you. Such a shame because I know the owner is sweet but she picked poor management who acts like a child.

Best bar food I’ve had. Burgers, fried chicken, fish and chips & fried pickles all very good. My wife had a 60th birthday party for me & they did a great job. Everyone is friendly & I’d rate 4.5 stars.

Not great, but not bad either. The place could definitely use some renovations. Portions were great– just wish the food was a little better. Not worth bringing home.

Its a good place for a drink and a bite to eat. Not bad. Its a real bar place so don’t expect more. I still say it’s ok and the waitress is friendly & nice. Went there several times already and will stop back. Pool table. Prices are good.

Nothing much to like about the place. The layout makes the place feel cold and uninviting. Sound carries and bounces off the floor and walls. The food is not great. it’s not the kind of place to order a martini, but the locals know each other and seem to like it.

Hard to review a place that struggles between OK and horrible service –vs– OK and good food. That seems to be the strange dilemma here. I can’t seem to finger what’s missing here, perhaps due to the fact that this establishment has gone through more management changes than the price of gas in so many years. Maybe it’s some of the strange daily specials. Maybe it’s the inattentive service. Maybe it’s the heavy local intensive crowd that doesn’t quite welcome you with open arms. Definitely the location kinda sucks between here and there and nowhere. The menu lacks definition and character, clearly all over the map from taco’s to steak to seafood. They have a taco special day $ 1 taco’s, but the unwritten rule is you cant’ order one or add just one to an existing order(the bartender informed me the cook will not prepare just one). So I ordered 3 with sour cream and jalapenos which was on the menu, the server then informed me that it’s $ 1 extra for the special. Ok, well it came out without either. Hungry I dug in anyway and they were good, but the extra items came out as I was finishing my last one, lol and charged me for them lol. I complained and the charge was removed, lol. This experience aside I’ve dined her a few times, but always inconsistent, always sub par service and always a lack of that Cheers feel.

This place is truly A-OK. I spend a fair amount of time in this area as my husband’s huge family live all in the area. We struggle at times to find a restaurant/bar that can not only fit even a portion of us physically, but can fit our varying needs. Brick House does just fine. There is a sizable bar area that is separate from the dining rooms. We all congregated there while waiting for everyone to arrive. There were several bar tables with ample chairs, a pool table, a jukebox, several TVs, a dart board, and a long wooden bar. Service was fast and friendly. When it was time for us to sit down and eat, we were given the«porch» dining room which is truly the indoor porch of a house that has been converted in to a restaurant. I love details like that. There were windows from the porch room into the dining room that were filled with tchotchkes. I know that our waitress was daunted by the size of our group, and she must have had several other tables as well, so the pace of service is completely forgivable. The food was standard American fare, and I’m not sure that anything really stood out above the rest. Many of us got burgers, which were fine, nothing out of this world. Everyone was content and there were no negative issues with the food/dining. After eating, we retired to the bar area again: the parents, teenagers, children(pre-teen), and young adults. The music coming from the jukebox was loud, but it was not so loud that we couldn’t still talk and hang out. The locals love this place and I hope it does well.

This is a nice little place. I’d give it four stars if they had a real kids menu, which they don’t, but they are very accomodating of child diners. The food is pretty good, except the turkey club, definitely steer clear of that. Everything else I’ve had here has been good though. It’s a little small so sometimes it can get a little loud, but otherwise it’s a nice little place.

Good service, great food. The«Greek» Burger was appetizing and delicious. I also had the Halibut and although it was a smaller cut it was still prepared well and came with appetizing sides.

I don’t know why this says not good for kids, we’ve gone with our two little ones quite a few times and the servers and who we think to be the owner is always gracious in accommodating them and us! The food here is delicious. Their rib eye is so tender and yummy! The burgers and sandwiches never disappoint and neither do their«double» version of cocktails!!! I recently had the chicken, avocado, fresh moz, pepper sammie and it was super! TV in the dining area allows us to watch the game when it’s on and they even put toons on for the kids when we were alone in the section. Servers are always nice and go out of their way. Will always go back! :)

We had a big group here for a birthday to hang at the bar. There weren’t seats at the bar for all of us so we were standing, chatting and overall the place had a good vibe BUT there was no coat check and when we placed our coats at an empty table(there were several empty tables) we were rudely told to move it. The coats weren’t bothering anyone and the manager being a little accommodating would have went a long way… Simply put — kind of jerks… and who wants to hang around that?

I know Covello’s in South Amboy and I know the owner Anna. Great restaurant! I just came back from the Brickhouse and it was a horrible dining experience. I ordered the Bomber Beef platter, and tasted like chit. The roast beef was old and dry, and when I returned it, the owner(biotch) came to my table and said that it was the most popular dish in the restaurant. You gotta be F’in kidding me! She was obviously insulted. Then before we left, that biotch insulted my girl friend. Restaurant Stakeout would’ve had a field day in this crap joint. Poor food, poor service. Nothing good about The Shit House Bar and Grill

This place is okay in a pinch. The service is lacking, I hate going to a place where the bartenders seem like the just lost their bff. The food is okay.

Been a while since I was here but I distinctly recall good prices and good service. My friends burger and fries came out perfect and my fish and chips(I have no idea why I ordered fish and chips at an American pub, I was on a bit of a kick at the time: x) wasn’t as good as the British classic but a respectable offering nonetheless. The restaurant section is well separated from the bar so you can eat a relatively quite meal with your family. Bar area was well stocked with a few TVs for game watching.
