I had no idea what I was getting into. Don’t ever book through pricleline. They charged me the same as the hotel was charging, but had I booked through the hotel I could’ve checked out without being penalized for unused nights. When I booked this room, I thought a full kitchen would be great, I hate always eating out when I travel. After one night in this hotel, I had no desire to be in the room longer than I had to be. This hotel, like most others between here and Elmira, was built in a hurry, and it shows. I’m listening to the conversation of the guests in the next room as I type. The floors are equally as thin, which makes traveling with young children very uncomfortable. I tried my best to keep them quiet, but I hope no one was below me. I could definitely hear when there were guests above me. If you like a firm mattress, this place is for you! The bed is so hard, I woke up several times with numb toes and arms. The backache is going to make for a fun drive home. Not even 30 and I sound like I’m quite aged. Sorry for whining in this part. Housekeeping! READTHEWEBSITE! I’ve never had experience with weekly housekeeping, so I didn’t even know to look. I’ve stayed at extended stays before that still cleaned rooms daily. If you are here anytime less than a week, you will never experience housekeeping yet they remind you of their existence with a gratuity envelope. I’ve always gone by a tips are earned kind of scale. No worries, I’ll tip. Weekly housekeeping, yet you still only get the two standard and small trash cans with an extra bag, plus an extra tiny can under the sink. I’m traveling with diapers and food, you do the math… I can’t leave out my late morning shower. Rinsing hair in cold water will wake you up quickly! No, this wasn’t by choice. The cupboard made things convenient, but I was buying breakfast items. I would have been better off had I stayed at any other of the hotels on this street that offer a free breakfast. The staff is very friendly, though. I do have to give them credit there. I have now stayed at every hotel on this street, and this one the last on my list to return to.

I stayed here for a night and I was pleasantly surprised. Never stayed at a Candlewood Suites so was unsure with what to expect. My room was large, had a mini kitchen, was very clean, and I found the front desk staff extremely helpful and friendly. My only negative feedback is the $ 100.99 hold they have for security. They ended up charging my account for this and never lifting it. I waited 10 business days and the charge remained. I had to contact them for help and nothing happened. Had I not been proactive about getting the charge removed it would have stayed and I would have had to pay an additional $ 100.99. So, check your bank statement because the same thing may happen to you!

This is my first and probably last time at this hotel. It’s been an hour and I haven’t got checked in yet. The front desk staff is in total meltdown. Guests given the same rooms, our reservation is not what we reserved, basically a total mess. They did reduce my rate to $ 75 which is expected. I’m waiting for my room to be cleaned at midnight. I’m in the area for a personal visit but travel extensively for my job. I’ve never seen this kind of dysfunction in 10 years of travel. Remember this… you get what you pay for. If you have another option take it. There are other hotels in the area that are similarly priced. I should have stayed at the Best Western for another $ 20.

This is the first time I’ve stayed at a Candlewood. As an IHG platinum member who spends around 100 nights a year in a hotel, I’ve come to expect certain amenities from IHG hotels. This hotel brand is severely lacking in these amenities, and this leaves me with mixed emotions about it, however the price reflects this, and this leaves me torn. First the positives. This place is new, in fact it’s the newest Candlewood to date. It’s very modern, with some really nice touches such as badge access door locks where you don’t have to swipe just touch. This allows you to leave the room card in your wallet, that’s a nice feature. Also the power receptacle near the bed has USB ports built into it. The TVs are LED, thin and sleek. The faucet fixtures are modern. Everything feels new and upscale. My one bedroom suit also has a living room with a couch and lazy boy chair. As an extended stay, you’ll have a kitchenette. Everything you need is there from pots and pans, utensils, even Tupperware to store the leftovers. The range hood microwave has a fan and light and the electric flattop is easy to clean. There is a «island» type table that doubles as more countertop space. Overall I really do like the room. Now the amenities or lack thereof. The fitness room is nice. Lots of equipment to use and it’s all nice modern stuff. That’s about it. There is no pool or hot tub. There is no breakfast in the morning. They only clean your room once a week. This is what’s really bothering me. They do have a «market» where they will sell you breakfast that you can make in your rooms kitchen, but who wants that? I don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning. I don’t mind making dinner after work and do use the kitchen for that but come on, let’s be honest, everybody is in a rush to get to work in the AM. Now here’s where I waver in my rating. I love my room, but I hate the lack of amenities. The only thing I have to compare to is Staybridge the other IHG extended stay and Townplace, Marriotts extended stay. Both these brands have housekeeping three times a week. Twice are«refresh» visits where they make the bed, take out the trash, refresh towels, that kind of stuff. They full clean once a week. Candlewood only full cleans once a week. Both of these other brands are family friendly with pools and social hours where food and drink is served on the house. Both of these other brands offer above average breakfast in the morning, typically with a lot more items to chose from then non extended stay hotels. Candlewood offers none of this. However, Candlewood seems to be a lot less expensive, sometimes as much as 50% less. This cost savings seems to justify the lack of amenities. For me is rather pay the extra money on the room rate, but I know to many they would rather save the money. This is where this brand fits into the market, I however don’t see myself staying at a Candlewood again. It’s also worth noting the Internet here is terrible. It constantly disconnects you and when you can stay connected during primetime it’s so slow it’s unusable.

As an IHG rewards member I tend to look out for IHG hotels, obviously. This Candlewood is a modern hotel offering no frills suites to the weary traveller or those condemned to work nearby. The rooms are reasonably well appointed with comfortable beds, kitchenettes, and bathrooms you can actually walk around in a bit. Rooms are serviced once a week, and some evenings they have a ‘manager’s special’ promotion with some snack foods in the lobby area. Unfortunately, they don’t think breakfast is special, so you’ll have to go out and find your own. No pool, a guest laundry, enough workout machines to keep you busy for an hour, and a pantry nearly complete the list. Let’s not forget the unreliable internet, I hope you weren’t planning on streaming your favorite netflix without a few interruptions! The staff is helpful and friendly, and there is a K Mart across the road along with an Aldi’s and a Tops, a short way down the road is a Wal Mart to meet any immediate shopping needs. I would stay here again if I needed to be here for work, but that’s about it.
