I’ve never had the experience at a restaurant before where I could hear and smell the onions being chopped when they were making my meal, but this is exactly what happened at Randita’s. It’s that fresh. I often work just outside Saxonburg, so I decided to come down Main Street to see my options for a quick bite. I’m not vegan, but I do occasionally enjoy a vegetarian or vegan meal. I ordered a veggie burger to go at an off peak time, about 20 minutes before they were going to close. While I sat at the counter I immediately heard the kitchen at work. I got my burger within a few minutes, topped with ketchup and a homemade coleslaw. The bean– and grain-based burger didn’t taste overly earthly. It was hearty, dare I say meaty. It was delicious and filling. The coleslaw gave it a perfect crunch. Price points were reasonable too. I know now that when I have a vegan friend come to visit, this is the first place I will take them!

I love Randita’s solid commitment to organism. This converted bank is a great getaway restaurant for the vegans and non-vegans in the area. If one is a genuine vegan you will be excited that you need not worry what you order at this restaurant as it is ALL vegan. We enjoy coming to this establishment each time we visit Western Pennsylvania.

Just had our first meal at Randita’s in Aspinwall. What a treat!!! Sublime guitar, satisfying, delicious, wholesome food, excellent coffee and dessert, and a phenomenally friendly staff and pleasing atmosphere to boot! I loved it all, but the African Peanut Stew was out-of-this-world. We have been waiting for this little culinary miracle for a long time. Run, don’t walk!

This is a hidden gem! I went here for dinner while in town visiting family. I’m a vegan and was joined by a vegetarian and meat-eater. We each got a different entrée so we could try each other’s. We were all blown away by how good it was. I’ve eaten at many vegetarian restaurants in various cities and this is on par with some of the best in the country! Great service Cozy atmosphere No wait(Friday night around 7) Delicious food

For a November evening on our anniversary we drove north and had to check this place out. What a cute little area. The restaurant is in a beautiful corner, previously a bank, but you can’t tell once you walk in. The warm, inviting colors of this restaurant, along with the furniture and layout, makes it a place to go back to. Because they’re a vegan and organic restaurant, they serve seasonal foods. It is best to like their Facebook page to get their weekly menu. We wanted to try everything, and so we did. Each got a different dish so we could try each other’s food. I’m surprised we didn’t leave rolling out of the restaurant but we couldn’t help ourselves, everything sounded so good! And so we got a «chicken» dumpling and a tofu dish with a fruit salsa and black rice, both very good but I have to say that the dumplings were my favorite, while the tofu was good, it was missing something. The salads we got were more than expected; with raw and cooked veggies, seeds and beans on a bed of lettuce. I believe they always have this salad and it is a must try. You won’t believe how well everything goes together with their vinaigrette dressing. Along with the salad we tried their cup of soup. I had their daily Autumn Harvest Chili, a new twist to the classic, with varying types of beans and vegan sour cream on top, I have to say that it was a great choice for me. My husband had a sweet potato soup, it was somewhat sweet, with hints of nutmeg, perfect for the season. You can’t leave a place without getting desert… that’s why we decided to «try» one each; only because my husband loves peanut butter pie and I, well, just can’t stand it. My choice was their coconut cream pie. By this point, I couldn’t eat anymore but the pie was so good… yes, you guessed it, OINKOINK! I must add, there’s nightly songs by the very talented co-owner. It was like we were transported to another place. We had a beautiful time, can’t wait to try their other location in Aspinwall!

DELISH!!! I have tried almost everything on the menu. The food is always FRESH, DELICIOUS, and most of all HEALTHY… even the coconut cream pie! This is certainly at the top of my list of restaurants. Quaint dining with fresh flowers on all tables and great service!

DELICIOUS food, unusual & healthy variety of menu items, and very good service(by Lacey)! I highly recommend this place. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it’s not close to me! Otherwise, I would eat here a lot more often!

We have eaten there about three times. Even though we live in the East End, Randita’s is a considerable trek(seems shorter every time except to my gas tank). But it really is worth it. They give vegetarian(and vegan) cooking the good name it deserves. My girlfriend really enjoyed the singing as well.

As a lover of all food and a meat eater, dining at Randita’s is AMAZING!!! It’s a small, intimate setting tastefully done with local artists work on the walls. The owners, Randi and Dale are extremely friendly and warm. Randi is the chef and she is incredible in the little kitchen… Dale works mostly out front when not serenading the customers with his guitar and vocals. The food is a real joy. My vegetarian wife and I enjoyed a Valentine’s Day dinner of appetizers, great salads with lemon and lime vinegrettes… an incredible African peanut stew and«hot» and spicy soup. For the main course, I had asian orange seitan and my wife had seitan picatta. Both were fantastic! The desert was chocolate peanut butter pie and coconut crème pie… sooooo yummy. It’s BYOB so we emptied a bottle of malbec. Please take the time to visit Randita’s…vegan or not, you will be rewarded with great food and a very nice experience.

I traveled the hour through middle of nowhere, PA to eat at this restaurant. I was not at all disappointed and would gladly do it again(I did hear that they may be opening a new one in Aspinwall, though). The food is great(fresh, organic, vegan), the atmosphere is charming and it’s BYOB. Even if you aren’t vegan/vegetarian, this is a great spot to try. It’s unique and the food is top quality.

We had heard from friends about Randita’s on Main Street here in our hometown of Saxonburg but our first experience with their food came not in the restaurant but from their food truck while at a local event. The vegan stew and wraps we had that day were so good that we immediately put a visit to their restaurant on our must-do list. We’ve eaten there twice now and both meals were outstanding. Last night my wife and I enjoyed Spicy Kale Soup and African Peanut Stew to ward off the cold followed by their Tofu Tetrazzini. My wife described the soup as flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness. I’ve had the African Peanut Stew several times now and it’s become one of my all-time favorite foods, thick and rich with great flavors plus the added delight of crunchy peanuts. The Tofu Tetrazzini featured a delicious creamy sauce with lots of peas and the tofu was complimented nicely with mushrooms and bits of red pepper. It was a perfect entrée for a bitterly cold night, very filling with a mix of textures and flavors. On a previous visit I enjoyed their Spicy Tofu Squares with Rice Noodles which was a very different experience, swapping the creaminess of the Tetrazzini for a dash of spice that left just the right amount of heat after each bite. Both meals were excellent plus we had the pleasure of live music from co-owner Dale Cinski, a wonderful guitarist whose playing really added to the evening. The dining room is cozy with a great view out on to Main Street and it was easy for us to make our reservation via their website. If you haven’t been to Saxonburg you owe it to yourself to make the trip to see the historic area, visit the shops and the artist’s co-op, and enjoy a meal and some music at Randita’s. I should note that I’m not a vegan but the flavor and quality of the meals I’ve enjoyed at Randita’s and from their food truck have really spurred me to look into adopting more of a vegan diet. If you’re reluctant to try a vegan meal you really should give it a try as I think you’ll be surprised at how tasty and interesting the dishes can be. In conclusion, I think Randita’s is a great place to experience really good food that also happens to be organic and vegan in a lovely setting with the bonus of great live music.

Follow-up: I wrote the following some time ago. While lunch at either Randita’s location is a treat, dinner entrees at Aspinwall are hit or miss. For example, the pasta was nearly inedible on two occasions — half of each serving was too hard to eat when served. Do they put it under the broiler? Literally crunchy. Randita’s is my new favorite restaurant. The food, organic and vegan, is wonderfully fresh and flavorful. The salad is inspired, including roasted veggies in addition to fresh and dried fruits and pumpkin seeds. Don’t miss it. The soups and wraps are delectable. I loved all that I tried, including the African Peanut Stew, Taco Wrap, and vegan Hot Sausage Wrap. As good as the savory fare is, save room for the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Pie. Light and not too sweet, the pie pairs perfectly with the specially mixed herbal teas at Randita’s. The owners’ attention to detail is evident in everything — the food, of course, as well as the ambience and service, all the way down to careful packaging of pie to go in an easily removable sheet of waxed paper tucked into an environment-friendly container. If you go, plan on spending some time in the nearby gift, antique, and art shops. There’s plenty to see on this picturesque little main street in Saxonburg.

For an organic vegan restaurant it was wonderful. Food was amazing. Got the spicy taco wrap and the hummus wrap. Also the sweet potato & peanut stew was filling.
