Shop local, shop beautiful. This store is filled with beautiful woodworking from Michigan and Indiana craftsmen. There is a also a nice selection of books, pottery, local art. On yesterday’s visit, there was a dining room table, an end table and a rocking chair made of elm, a very rare find, very beautiful, a grain reminiscent of feathers. Gorgeous, as is this entire shop. Further into the season (late spring, all of summer) they sell really nice lawn furniture as well.

When I make a day trip to Michigan, this place is always one of my stops. It’s a great little house, filled with custom made wood products and furniture. I’ve bought lazy susans, framed mirrors, nicely carved salad tongs, and a great Adirondack chair. The love-​of-​my-​life chair is there: a leather and wood Stickley-​style recliner. Saving my pennies for that one. Perfect «old man chair.» I’ll need a cardigan and a pipe and slippers to go with it. Oh, and a dog! Dear Santa…
They also have some really unique and beautiful, nature-​inspired lamps. The whole place is just very warm and inviting, and the larger pieces of furniture are definitely one of a kind. Prices are higher, of course, but not as bad as what might be expected in a custom shop. The staff is usually very helpful with your questions or if you want to special order a piece of furniture. Great place for wedding and other gifts for those who enjoy the idea of wood transformed into art, beauty and function. Check it out when you’re zipping up The Red Arrow Hwy.
