Oh, how I love the theatre. I’m a bit biased as a SCAD student, but shows on the real big screen are always majestic, no matter what school you rep. My favorite memory in the Trustees is from this past Film Festival. I got a chance to witness Meg Ryan, America’s Sweetheart herself, introduce and speak about her new film. Along the backdrop of such a beautiful venue, every film or show you come to see here feels epic.

Growing up is Savannah is something I am very proud of. The Savannah College of Art and Design has taken my home town and made it beautiful again. The Trustees Theater was a worn down old theater that needed someone to come in and love it. SCAD did just that. The details in the ceilings in the theater and the lobby give off gold hues of a sunset. The restored seating is able to recline which lost of people sitting around me were impressed by. The concessions area only serves coke products. Being a beer and wine fan I was disappointed. The concert was James Cotton the greatest blues harmonica player. The sound quality of the room was fantastic. James is old but his music still young and vibrant. As the bass guitarist plays James carefully selects a harmonica in the key of his choice and knows just the right moment to step in and bring the house down. I was disappointed that this concert was not at the Lucas. However, after seeing the Trustees and experiencing the concert I was quite happy.

They did a great job hosting the film festival. Nice, clean theater. I would have given it more stars but seats are average and uncomfortable after awhile.

I really like it here. I came here for a viewing of Easy Rider for my class and wasn’t sure what to expect. There was a whole Q&A from SCAD professors at the end which was definitely an added benefit! A definite negative is that at the concession stand, if you can call it that, only accepts cash. They accept credit/debit at the door for the price of the ticket but you can’t pay with debit/credit for popcorn in your next 12 steps… does that make any sense? If you do have cash on you though… it is cheap!

I have to say that perhaps this place deserve more starts than three, but I found a few things that disappoints. 1. no ATM on the lobby; and they only accept cash… suggestion, make a deal with any bank for an ATM or get some free apps to charge credit cards; no excuse, this is the 21st century. 2. screen was very small; it was like watching a movie at my house and I only have 32″ TV. Beside these above, I like that it is well kept, nice and clean!

Trustees is pretty nice. I’ve been there several times for different events. The staff is friendly and there’s plenty of room and you can hear and see from anywhere. They have a snack bar with soda, candy, and popcorn, but it’s never been on sale when I went since they were smaller events.
