My husband had a bowl of gumbo and shared my 1 pound of shrimp with hushpuppies and fries. The food was incredibly fast especially since we had a hour wait. The cocktail sauce was good. The shrimp was very fresh and I ate a ton. Not really fancy but we were happy.

We decided to try the Shell House as we wanted something nicer than Cracker Barrell. The staff are very welcoming and we were seated right away. Had to chuckle as there’s a hole in the middle of the tables and a large (30 gallon?) rubber trash can underneath. This did come in handy to throw away our trash. I had a crabcake dinner which was very tasty. The dinner came with hush puppies and two sides for $ 19.99. My husband had a bowl (12 oz $ 8.99) of gumbo which he devoured. He also had a side salad. Our bill came to $ 34. Service was very good. Dishes were Styrofoam and utensils silver plastic. The soup was in a soup mug and my dinner was served on a reusable plate. The food was definitely worth stopping but would have been nice to know what to expect.

Service was prompt and the bartender was very nice. The reason I’m giving this place a 2 star review is due to the quality of food.
I ordered the «Low Country Boil» standard 1lb of shrimp, 3 small red potatoes, 1 corn on the cob. The corn was soggy and looked old, and tasted as if it say in hot water all day. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the shrimp seemed fresh. Problem is, it just tasted bland… no real flavor, just salty.
I was so looking forward to a good olé shrimp boil… instead I received a mediocre flavored meal. Similar to something you’d get from Joes Crab Shack. Such a let down. :(
