I didn’t spend more than a minute or two here because I simply didn’t feel welcome. The lady behind the counter did not acknowledge me even though I was the only patron in the store and smiled as I entered(at least I think I did!!!) When her friend arrived they began gossiping but continued to ignore me. It was so uncomfortable! A little hello sure can go a long way!

I ordered wine from these people way back at the beginning of May. They had no problem processing my paypal payment, however, they are thieves!!! They don’t send the product, they don’t return phone calls, they don’t respond to emails, but they do take your money. THIEVES!!! Do not order anything from these people. You will NEVER see the product, you will never get your money back or hear from them again!!!

The worst service. They haven’t shipped my purchase of 10÷09÷13. The lady told me she could ship my purchase from the candy store($ 80) plus the $ 125 on wine, and I am still waiting. They don’t reply to emails, they don’t return calls. The lady only was nice when we said we were purchasing wine. Before that, she didn’t give us time of day, was very unfriendly!!! Now they won’t even tell me when my stuff is being sent.

My husband surprised me with a carriage ride and wine tasting for our anniversary. Bless his heart, but the wine was terrible. Our package included a tasting, a bottle and a tray of cheese, crackers and fruit. I must agree with other reviews that the man providing the samples was curt and had this dry sense of humor that wasn’t very welcoming. I got the impression that he didn’t care for the wine either. When we tried a sweet wine and deemed it too sweet, that we like something drier, he emphasized that the others are, «dry, BONE dry». Ugh, your not kidding! They were even worse than the overly sweet wines. Gag. We got a bottle of the best of the worst(since it had already been paid for) and got in our carriage. The tray of food they provided to go along with the wine had MOLDY grapes. Thankfully we had the cheese and crackers which made the wine drinkable, but barely. Really, not good, not good at all!

We popped in here twice while we were in town and hanging around the market area. The tastings were just over $ 5, can’t beat that. WE had the same person working on both days we went and she was super nice, just what I’d expect in Savannah. Now I won’t say that I liked these wines as much as some of the other vineyards we frequent in California and Oregon, but I did enjoy the wines. The fruit wines are what I really enjoyed. I can’t get enough of the peach wine that they have. Overall you’re not going to spend a lot of money, get some decent wines and beat the heat for a few minutes.

With an eye like a hawk for wine, my husband spotted this tasting room in the market square. Tastings for 5 wines and their cider was $ 5.50. What!!! We were all over that, for sure. If you aren’t into sweet wines, this probably isn’t the spot for you. Most, if not all of their wines were sweet, fruity wines… just the way I like it. I throughly enjoyed all of the wines I tasted and my favorite was this white, blueberry wine. I definitely got a bottle of that. The second time we went, the lady was kind enough to sell us a glass of wine each, to go. Man, she filled that plastic cup full, too! Boy, do I love the south…

Meinhardt has a few critical issues that drop it to the bottom of the list. First and foremost, the service was poor. The man behind the counter was taciturn – nearly rude – while we went through a tasting. He was only polite after we bought a bottle. He didn’t even mention their sister shop across the street. This leads me to the second problem: the tastings are actually split into two different locations. Half of Meinhardt’s wines can only be tasted across the street at a sister winery. We only found this out because we happened to wander in and saw the same labeling. However, it’s the same tasting fee, again, for wines that are only slightly different than the ones offered across the street. It’s ridiculous to split your wine selection in half and force people to go back and forth across the street to compare them. But it’s insane to not even mention the fact that half your wines can only be tasted somewhere else. And the taste of the wine leads me to the third, and most important point. It was fine during the tastings, good enough for us to justify buying the Blueberry Waving Girl wine at one shop and Eagle Harvest at the other. However, the bottles we brought home tasted like vinegar. While other bottles of wine had traveled with us further cross-country with no loss of quality, the two bottles from Meinhardt were undrinkable. The sorry service, irritating inconvenience, and poor product all contribute to our bad experience with Meinhardt.

I was here in Feb 2010 and everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were amazing and I had a hard time deciding which one I wanted to buy a bottle of. I finally made a decision and flew with it back to Boston. I promptly drank the entire bottle the night after I returned to Boston and I wish I had more. You can’t find muscadine wines up here and that makes me sad. It has to be one of my favorites. Maybe someday.

This place has the WORST wine EVER. My friend and I were attracted by the $ 5 tasting sign. Well, I have never tried any local, southern wines, so we decided to go for it. GROSS! NASTY! We walked in, the people weren’t especially friendly. I decided to make an effort and be extra friendly to the man sitting behind the register. He had pictures of his dogs everywhere so I asked him about them. He still wasn’t all that friendly. Then we went over for the tasting. We had to pick 5 wines from the list. Well, we chose. The first one we tasted made me throw up in my mouth. My friend and I looked at each other in disgust, and dumped the wine. I should have known NEVER to try wine grown in Georgia. I was pretty sure by the WS ratings i would hate it, and I was correct. We let him pour us another glass, that was dumped as well, this process repeated itself about, well, 3 more times. The guy behind the wine tasting counter must have noticed we hated his wines, because then, to our HORROR, he decided to pour us tastes of his favorites. Excuse me, but ALL of your wine tastes like ammonia, we want to get the heck outta here– we are TRYING to be polite. The couple next to us, surprisingly, was buying like 8 bottles. Not to be rude, but they must have no taste for wine at all. NEVERGOHEREUNLESSYOUFEELLIKEGETTINGSICKTOYOURSTOMACH.
