Amazing food! My parents and I both had the shrimp and grits and boy is it tasty! We also had the she-crab soup which was delicious as well! Awesome service from our waiter, Daniel. We had a great view of river street from our table as well. We would definitely go back!

Great food, great location, and quick and friendly service. We stopped here on a short stop to Savannah and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I was surprised that we walked right in to be seated on a Saturday evening but the place quickly filled up. The server brought kid waters out before asking for drinks along with some bread. If you have kids and still want a nice dinner, this is the place. We started with the she-crab soup which was a nice light appetizer. I had the shrimp and grits and HIGHLY recommend them. My husband had the stuffed shrimp, which was good but not good enough to earn 5 stars. Stop by, you’ll be happy that you did!

When we arrived, the restaurant was practically empty. However, we were sat at a table for two where I was facing the kitchen and my husband was facing the river. That was my first disappointment. The tables in front of the window were tables for more than two and if they were busy, I could understand not getting one of those tables. Our waitress was very nice. I ordered a cup of the crab soup which was so thick I couldn’t eat it. I also ordered the steak and crab cake. I must say, the steak was delicious. The crab cake was a big disappointment. My husband’s steak was great too. The veggie of the day was pea pods which is not something I can eat so I ordered a side of asparagus but that never came? Anyway, for the price of the food, I was disappointed in the experience.

We stopped in on a Saturday night to order to go since it was pretty close to closing time. We ordered some she –crab soup and the shrimp and grits and mahi mahi, which all tasted fantastic. While we waited we had a couple drinks that were just awesome and chatted with the coolest bartender ever. When we mentioned that the next day was our 1st anniversary she arranged for us to come back by the next day to pick up a complimentary chocolate bread pudding that was out of this world good. Stopping in there was definitely a highlight of our trip. I was so impressed with the friendly staff and yummy food I recommended to my mom that she take her tennis team there for their dinner out during their tournament this month. She said she would definitely suggest it, especially for the bread pudding. A bit pricey, but worth it. Besides, everything around there was prettu pricey so I am glad we chose well.

Simply put, this place is amazing. Locally owned restaurant on the river that has a great menu with a lot of options that are all prepared fresh. Let me start by saying we are from the north. We don’t necessarily have a good gauge on southern food. So when our server told us the shrimp and grits were his favorite thing on the menu, all I could picture was my poor attempt to make grits into something that’s even recognizable. But, he swooped off and rushed back with a sample of the grits and all I can say is they are life changing. We both had the she crab soup which was very good. I ordered the shrimp and cheddar grits in a lovely spicy cream sauce with andouille and red peppers. The sauce was exceptional. Not overly spicy, just the right amount to cut some of the richness. My daughter had the crab stuffed shrimp with linguine and asparagus in a lemon butter sauce. Also fantastic. Then dessert. Our server recommended the chocolate bread pudding(award winning btw) and the key lime pie. We ordered both and they were both equally as good. Made from scratch and beautiful in presentation. Our server John was above and beyond great. They are lucky to have him. If we lived here we would eat here weekly to be sure. Don’t miss this place.

Jermaine took great care f our party of 4 on Sunday evening. Fried Shrimp and Stuffed Shrimp were the fare. Quite tasty and extremely rich(stuffed). Enjoyed a couple of Absolute martinis from the bar and had an excellent first evening in Savannah.

The cheese grits were super creamy and delicious. This place has the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had in my LIFE! I lived in Louisiana for a year and no place has topped this.

Ate here on 5⁄15 with another couple. Food was great. I had the blackened chicken salad. It was delicious. Other people in the group got the pasta, seafood and the hamburger. They all said their food was great, too. The waiter was very nice and tolerant as we are a group that likes to joke with the wait staff and other patrons. The manager came and checked on us and talk d to us for a while, answering questions we had about Savannah. We are coming back at the end of June with some friends and will definitely come back here.

Did new years eve here and we had a wonderful time. I had the prime rib and the shrimp and grits. The meals were amazing. I don’t know if they do those meals regularly but I recommend the shrimp and grits especially if you can get it. Our waiter was very friendly and was nice enough to take a group photo for us with our meals.

The Rib Eye may have been the best steak I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Cut like butter seasoned perfectly and 12 ounces is a lot to eat. Opted for cheese grits on the side and they were perfect! Highly recommend this place!

THISISNOTBOAR’S HEADSANDWHICHES — it’s better! In historic Germany, after a kill, hanging a boar’s head outside of a restaurant, indicated the restaurant had a fresh feast of meat to sell. BBQ shrimp and oysters are great! Bartenders are top notch and provide the best service whether you’re sitting down for a few or taking one on the go. We were served by Jamie, Tyler, Rebecca and Jermaine. All were on-point! Other customers raved about the shrimp and grits — we never stayed for a full meal. Oldest restaurant on River Street from 1959 in the 1800’s Cotton Exchange building. Great folks, good times!

Dropped in for dinner on Wednesday night. No wait and was seated right away. The building is old and is lovely — original bricks and wood flooring really help you to feel the history of the building. The service is excellent as well. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and he STILL hasn’t stopped talking about this meal. He LOVED it. He said it was one of the top free meals he’s ever had! I had the bouillabaisse and it was very good. We recommend trying this place for both the excellent good and cool vibes.

Wow! When our reservations were«lost» at a trendy savannah restaurant the closest place for us and our 10 guests was Boars Head and what a stroke of luck! Charlene answered the phone and made our culinary dreams come true! We had rented an apartment for the weekend just above their place and instead of going out we stayed in and had the best take-out! Our guests gave rave reviews to the fried shrimp, grilled salmon, shrimp Scampi and she-crab soup! We started with the spinach salad with the house made vinaigrette and it set the tone for everything that followed! If you are river front give this place a try. The food and the staff go the extra mile and it shows.

The food is great as well as the atmosphere. The low country boulibase was hearty, the shrimp and grits great. The mahi was really delish. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was because the guys thought the portions were not big!

My family and I had a nice lunch at Boar’s Head, which is convenient near River Street. I had the special burger which was cooked perfectly and another guest really enjoyed the she crab soup.

After researching numerous restaurant choices in Savannah on Unilocal,my wife and I selected Boar’s Head because it had many good reviews, was close to our hotel, and the prices seemed reasonable. When we arrived we each had a cocktail, followed by a cup of she crab soup for each of us(the soup was great!) For my entrée I ordered a burger, and my wife ordered a blackened shrimp app and a mixed green side salad. During dinner I ordered a second drink(a beer) and at the conclusion of our meal we had two coffees. Our bill, including the tip came to $ 93.22, which I thought was a lot for what we ordered. Primarily for that reason I gave it 3 stars. Our food was good, but as I studied our bill afterwards I saw that my wife’s Cosmo was $ 12.00, our 2 cups of soup were $ 14.00, and the cheese on my burger was an extra $ 2.00(really?!). I don’t consider myself to be cheap, but I have found many other locations in Savannah that are just as good and don’t wack you for the extras. I won’t go back again. PS– our server Patrick took good care of us.

If you come here for lunch, the Chef Philip’s Crab Cake Sandwich should not be missed. It is by far one of the best I’ve had; you won’t regret it. The cake is light, delicate, and full of local fresh blue crab. Finish your meal with a unique take on a southern classic dessert with the Jack Daniel’s Chocolate Pecan Pie; a rich, creamy slice of Georgia pecan heaven.

The bacon wrapped bbq shrimp was mediocre BUT the cheddar cheese grits were OUTOFTHISWORLD!!! Excellent!!! I was so happy with every bite I took. I know it’s hard to believe. Grits are grits, but these were different. You MUSTTRY!!! Loved the atmosphere, every one in there was in a great mood. Sat at the bar and had a few drinks as well as the food. Our bartender was very nice and so were the people sitting next to us. The shrimp were nice in size, what I didn’t like was that they just threw BBQ on them them instead of cooking or grilling them. They could be done better. Overall it was a cool place to go to.

Another one of mom’s suggestions that turned out to be a winner. I will admit that I only think of ham sandwiches: boy was I wrong. Boar’s Head had a delectable selection of seafood, sandwiches and sweets. My mother’s plate of shrimp and grits was amazing. I ate more of her dish than I did of mine. We ate during the tavern menu 3 – 5, but would love to go back for dinner when more options are available. Overall, my idea of Boar’s Head has changed for the better.
