I have been to this location three times for waxing and massage. I have had a pleasant experience all three times. The décor is average but clean, great experiences with staff and services. They will try to sell you their membership program, I politely but assertively declined and didn’t hear about it again. The membership is a great deal if you want or need regularly scheduled services.

I got a groupon for a 90 min massage. I show up, the spa itself is nothing beautiful to look at. My massage therapist was very nice, but it was her first day. She gave me a 60 minute massage switch was ok. I had asked for deep tissue and had to remind her about 15 minutes into it because she started to do Swedish. When I realized that my massage was cut short I was already getting dressed and she has been out of the room. At the front desk they made me buy a 1st time massage which only costs $ 5 less than the Groupon for a 90 minute massage. My other option was to use my Groupon and lose my 30 minutes. So I bought the hour one to pay for this time and I have an appointment to go back next week. Let’s see how that goes!

Went in for a facial and one hour massage. The atmosphere is alright, nothing special, but decent. The facial was ok. There was never any extractions, which in my past 5 or 6 facials elsewhere, there always were. There was also a lot of ‘down time’ where nothing was happening… where you’d expect if product was needing time to do it’s job, then usually the esthetician is passing time with shoulder or head massage. There was just a lot of dead time. Just like the previous reviewer, I was pushed product(at facial) and upgrades(massage«add on’s) as well as the monthly club from the receptionist. I opted to get one of the add on’s for my massage; a hot towel treatment. Which consisted of two hot(wet) towels on my upper back for about 4 – 5 minutes. Hardly worth $ 10 extra. The massage itself was decent, enough pressure, but still relaxing. Way too much oil though; and might I suggest leaving a towel to wipe off the excess when the massage is finished? Yuck. I do like the fact that they are open later than many other salons, which can be nice if your just looking for a run of the mill relaxation massage before going to bed. I can say with certainty though, I wouldn’t return here. For the price, there are much better options out there; where you don’t feel like you’re just in some big sales pitch.

Caveat Emptor Scheduled a massage to relieve some back pain. Massage was average compared to past massages, there are better places for the same price not far away. Store and staff appearance wasn’t great. You can hear people talking in other rooms, the staff all wear black clothes that should have been replaced 6 months ago, and everywhere you look there are marketing materials trying to sell you into their membership program(one or two signs should be sufficient; a TV, photo books, posters, and table tents at every turn is overkill and annoying). After the session I was suckered on the great pricing of the membership and how much I would save by paying upfront for a massage each month. Since I was planning on massages for the next few months, I thought it made sense so I signed up. The only problem is that they don’t tell you the terms and conditions and since they take up the entire back of the contract I didn’t spend 10 minutes reading them before signing. They knew I was only going to use it for a few months, thanks for the heads-up! The only way to cancel is to buy a new house 30 miles away, die, or by surviving a face first fall out of a 4th story window making it impossible to receive facials or back massages. I called the next month to let them know how deceived I felt, but their response: «you signed the contract, it’s all laid out in the contract». I’d been had! After a few months, I tried the facial. This was also average compared to other salons. The team is clearly coached to sell product. Before, during, and after the facial they push product. Hard. Makes it hard to relax when you’re constantly saying«let’s see how it works first». I’m now at the end of my 12 month contract and I’ve submitted my official request to cancel along with some choice words regarding my experiences. Massage Retreat’s response: «I’m sorry you feel that way». Oh, and another disappointment — They can change prices with just a 14 day notice, but since you’re required to give a 30 day cancellation notice, you have no choice but to pay the new rate. They just did it to me and that seems dirty. Based on the lack of empathy, car salesman mentality, customer disservice, deceptive selling, and disappointing experiences the past 12 months, I will not be returning to any massage retreat and I recommend you steer clear as well. They churn and burn customers and are just fine with that model. Go someplace else for a better experience at the same price.
