Framing At the Copper Door

Alan worked with me to frame a commemorative piece of art for my Dad.
I was looking for a frame with a rustic look. Alan did not have anything in the shop and asked me to come back the next day as he would look around for some possibilities.
I came back the following day and Alan pulled out some 100 year old redwood planks that had been reclaimed from an old barn. It was perfect! Not only did Alan come up with exactly what I was looking for, he did so with only the vaguest description of what I wanted. The final product looked amazing, and my Dad loved it.
Working with Alan was great, he set clear expectations regarding deadlines, price, and product up front — so there were no surprises along the way. I plan on using Alan in the future for any framing needs. A++++++

The Copper Door on Caledonia Street in Sausalito is one of the best kept secrets here! You get more than a framed picture when you do business at the Copper Door as Alan, a colorful character from Liverpool, can tell anything you want to know about the history of Sausalito and other obscure worldly facts. He is a fabulous photographer also and puts 100% of himself into his work. He has become «family» to my husband and I and «uncle» to our two kitties. The Copper Door is quality service at its best!

I’ve found that Alan at the Copper Door is the best custom picture framer here in Sausalito.
What Alan has is an EYE for framing and design, and so far, I’m sorry to say, I have not found that to be true of all of the other frame shops in town. I tend to trust framers with my work, and so far, everything I’ve given Alan to frame has turned out better than I imagined. I’m sorry I didn’t take my other custom jobs to him, actually, since I spent a lot of money on other jobs and have very disappointed. But I’m new in town, and so I wanted to try the different options.
Alan is a sociable guy with many stories and his shop is filled with Old World charm. He’s affordable and his prices are reasonable. And he’s done a great job with my original work.

Experience, experience, experience! It shows. Alan, the owner of the Copper Door framing is a master of his craft. He has been in his Caledonia shop for OVER 30+ YEARS. I have the delight of getting to know him, and his work for a few months now, and the guy is just great.
