Absolutely disgusting! I will never eat here again. They staff was rude and the food was gross, I had French toast and bacon, the bacon tasted old and was burnt, and the French toast literally had no flavor and tasted like cardboard. The other 4 people I was with agreed that their meal was gross. Never again.

Second time here. I thought I’d give it another shot since the first time I went it was setup as a buffet for Thanksgiving. Well, this time it was even worse. I don’t know how the Cook prepared the steak, but it seemed to be pan fryed or nuked. I ordered it med rare and got so rare that it was still frozen in the middle. I asked the waitress to take it back, and have the Cook prepare it the way it was supposed to be. She told me «if you ordered it med rare, that’s the way it is.» She took it back, and reheated it, and brings back the most disgusting prime rib I have ever tried to eat. If I didn’t fear getting arrested for not paying I would have walked out. Never eat here, never!

The waitresses are usually very nice and give good service, with only a bit of variability. Sometimes there will be someone behind the cash register who doesn’t quite match the level of the wait staff, but that is a minor point. We go there for breakfast mostly, and sometimes lunch, when passing through town on hiway 12. Usually get something like eggs, ham, hash browns and toast, with coffee. The eggs are usually well done, the hash browns not quite crispy enough, the ham is usually that compressed ham loaf stuff, good enough I guess but not like an easter ham, the toast is usually dried out and sometimes burnt, and the coffee is the weak point, mediocre, bitter, weak, and pointless. If they just spent a few more dollars on 8 O’Clock coffee beans or better, they could make people a lot happiers. They usually have some breakfast specials, like polish sausage and eggs, or steak and eggs, but they are things on the menu anyway, just maybe with a small discount. We wish they just would take a step back and try to imagine what a customer might really like. Why not allow a pancake instead of stale, dry, burnt toast? Why not just imagine how a customer would like their hash browns, and let them sit on the griddle for an extra minute so they brown a bit? Why not buy some GOOD coffee? Lunch is standard american fare and ranges from average to okay. We have had ribs, steak and eggs, burgers, and other things. I think they also have some sort of lunch buffet that is $ 5, but we never made it for that. We will continue to stop there for breakfast if we are traveling through town in the morning, because Sauk City doesn’t have many other options for breakfast, other than the uninspired Eagle Inn or the parsimonious Blue Spoon(which has great coffee but overpriced and stingy breakfast offerings and odd hours).
