it was my great pleasure to stay at harmony house during my son’s wedding week-end. the food was delicious and jacquie was incredibly attentive to my every need, though all the rooms are fabulous my favorite are the bordeaux and versailles rooms. the other thing i loved were the showers, great water pressure! katherine manaan

Good friends of mine stayed here while visiting me. And thoroughly enjoyed the place. Hospitality galore!

Definitely a cut above bed and breakfast– more like staying at a relative’s house, only without the nosy relatives and family squabbles. The rooms(there are four) each have different charms, but share in a common element– they are ‘eat off the floors’ clean. The bathrooms are on the small side(the house is over 100 years old– having private baths is something of a plus), but each glistens. Beds and other furnishings(other than the mattresses and linens, which are new) are older pieces, each with charm. Décor is tasteful– there’s a french element to it(Eva did live in France for a while in her youth), and there’s a lot of nice French pottery around the common space. Breakfast, however, puts Harmony House on a whole new level. Jacquie’s years of being a professional chef, followed by being a certified holistic nutritionist, shine through. Eva is the perfect hostess, each place is set perfectly on fine china– guests who dare to serve their own coffee are chided to return to their seat.(Do try the coffee, it’s a special blend they create on site). Take your coffee out on the spacious deck(in the summer), look into the peaceful woods(the dining room overlooks the deck– and into the woods), and just relax. Special nutritional requirements are met with gusto– most food is organic, locally sourced where possible, and always fresh, cooked to order– no chafing dish of eggs and waffles, if they’re on the menu, they come to you on your own plate, hand carried with a smile. Hours of checkin and checkout can be flexible, so long as Eva and Jacquie are available– the house is locked and secure if they go out(you are given a key upon checkin), so if you need to come in at an odd hour, you will need to make advance arrangements. The common space area is open to all, and is stocked with comfortable furniture, antiques, and board games, and features a very accommodating fireplace(especially nice in the colder months). TV with satellite hookup is available in each room, as is wifi– though you would do yourself a disservice to bring your laptop and get work done. Coffee(Keurig!) and bottled water are available 24⁄7. A corkscrew and wine glasses are also on hand, so feel free to bring a nice bottle to enjoy by the fire.(we did)
