Like the remodel and new colors– food and service was better too. Chow mien dish seemed small. Prawns with pecans was delicious but needed more nuts, just 6… Darn. The Filet Mignon special was really good and had lots of pieces of steak. The kids liked sitting next to the fish tanks — we’ll be back!

Our family has been coming to Hong’s for years, starting when we lived in Saratoga and, now that we live in Los Gatos, we don’t think twice about making the drive. The food is really good — we have become creatures of habit and almost always order the vegetarian spring rolls(really crisp and packed with vegetables), the salt and pepper eggplant, the chicken salad and the chicken and asparagus. The food is consistently good, but it’s really Jimmy who brings us back here time and again. He knows us, greets us enthusiastically, and brings us our drinks before we even have to place our order. He makes special sauces to our taste, and is super attentive throughout the meal without being intrusive. Even though we live in Europe half the year, we will always make time to go to Hong’s when we are back in California.

I am not one to comment or leave many bad reviews but I can’t take the silence. I’ve been to this particular establishment a couple times before. The first occurance the food was very good and our server«Jimmy» was also good. But there was a very rude sense to the entire place. A sense of arrogance that enveloped the place… Short story. I recently tried to call for a to go order and boy was I put through the ringer. Not only did I have to call consecutive times to get an answer they were extremely rude over the phone and were very neglectant to take my order cause they said they were close to closing(which was 45 min away might I add) I was basically irate. In my opinion it definitely definitely doesn’t love up to its name or reviews. 3 thumbs down

Spent lunch here with the family this past Memorial Day Weekend. We came here after our little adventure to Hakone Gardens just up the street – surprisingly, the streets of downtown Saratoga weren’t as crazy busy as I thought it would be… the hot sun and all that walking worked up an appetite for us haha. I am in love with the ambience of this place… call me biased but, the restaurant looks amazing in purple lol… purle lights, lavendar walls, contemporary-style chandelier thingys(let’s just call them lights to keep it simple lol), cleanliness and lots of space make this place so inviting. Our server Jimmy and the rest of the staff were very nice and attentive to us. Hence the four stars… would have been five if the food could have stepped its game up lol… Our orders: –Appetizers: Green onion pancake-I was expecting a lot more from this dish, but it just wasn’t doing it for me… I wasn’t really into the sauce that went along with it and what’s more dissapointing was that I didn’t taste enough of that green onion :( –Entrees: –Combination fried rice: it was typical, but good nonetheless –Wor wonton soup: ok as simple as this soup can be, I feel that the best wor wonton soup I’ve had comes from this place lol… I don’t know what it is, but everything in that little bowl just went well together… the broth, veggies and the wonton itself just all tasted so good haha… this was probably my fave dish out of our entire lunch haha –Honey walnut prawns: even Jimmy said we chose the best dish out of the whole menu haha… he even joked around that we came in on a good day because we were served jumbo-sized prawns lol… anyway, again a simple dish everything about it was just right… the breading on the prawn wasn’t too overwhelming and it wasn’t drowning in sweet sauce either –General Tso’s chicken/Szechuan beef(non-spicy): these were also good dishes, however the General Tso was drowning in too much sauce… not my thing lol… the Szechuan beef was wasn’t drowning in sauce, but oddly enough, I like my Szechuan beef not fully coated in sauce… like it has to be half breaded/not saucy and the other half breaded with some sauce in it… lol does that make sense? –The most anticipated but most dissapointing dish of them al, well for me that is: HK style combination chow mein :(The rest of my fam liked it, but I just couldn’t…there were so much corn starch that I could barely taste the flavor… of…anything! Maybe I’m just being picky… HK style chow mein is like my fave dish to order in a Chinese restaurant… unfortunately, it didn’t make the cut in my book. –It’s ok I guess, the Thai Iced Tea ordered cheered me up a bit from that dissapointment lol. We don’t always go to Saratoga, but when we do, Mom says we’re going back to this restaurant. Hahaha…

Hongs was always a favorite when we lived in Saratoga. 14 years, after we moved north, we returned, and the food is still great. Chicken salad and fried rice were delicious.

I’ve been here once and can tell this is the best Chinese in the south Bay area. The honey walnut prawns are amazing as well as the vegetable chow mien. I’m excited to come back!

Hongs Gourmet has been in Saratoga for many years. It is a delightful restaurant, pleasing all the senses. Newly decorated, its modern motif creates a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. I’m wondering if we could call it a bit«middle Earth!» Very interesting. Adults as well as children enjoy looking at the large fish tank. The mural on wall above it is a happy sight. The fragrances coming out of the kitchen cause hunger pangs upon entering. The acoustic design is such that the restaurant, even when busy, is never too loud. The waiters are very serious about their work and tend to the diners in a friendly and professional manner. The specials are dependably interesting. The fish and vegetables are always fresh and never over or under cooked. The«hot and spicy» dishes are perhaps not quite as hot as some might like, but this can be remedied by advising the waiter beforehand of your preference in this regard. One unusual dish served there is pineapple rice which is served in a hollowed pineapple half. Quite special. Hongs Gourmet is a great place to go for a couple or a group. Service is family style or plated, as you wish. As you might have guessed, we have become regulars!

I came here last week with my BF, his parents, and my parents and we were all satisfied. We arrived for an early dinner and had the whole place to ourselves. Our waiter, Jimmy, was very nice and attentive. He even brought some water for my bf’s dad’s guide dog, without being asked. The food was good and service was great. I definitely recommend coming here if you’re in the area and craving Chinese food.

Love love this place! We have jumped on the band wagon and are so happy we did. This place is consistently amazing, delicious and always has fresh food. The service, though deserves its own award at this place! Every waiter is beyond nice and polite here, no matter the time that you come in. Our waiter is usually Quan — 5 stars to him. He makes our experience always that much better. Side note: The restaurant is in the perfect area, very beautiful and dreamy. It has been completely remodeled inside and is just very welcoming.

Hong’s Gourmet is better than Netflix. You heard me. Better. Than. Netflix. I’ve been dining here since the beginning of time; as a small child, the waiters taught me how to use chopsticks and fold a napkin. Now, as a 30-something, I’ll make the 20 minute trek to this restaurant whenever I’m craving Chinese food, even though there are probably hundreds of more convenient options, because the food and service make it completely, thoroughly, utterly worth it! Once you’ve tried the food here, I think you’ll agree, especially if you order the Chinese shredded chicken salad, potstickers, and Ming’s beef. And the tangerine chicken. AND the mu shu pork. ANDANDAND the sizzling prawns in garlic sauce. Also, if you dine in, ask to be seated in Jimmy’s section. He’s the epitome of what a good waitperson should be: friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.

Wow. It took me a minute to find some FANTASTIC Chinese food out here! I Live in Los Gatos and Hongs is the BEST Chinese food in the area! I ordered on line and they were on time and friendly! The takeout containers are GREAT for leftovers. I would eventually like to come and sit down for dinner as the ambiance is quite nice. What we ordered: Chicken Chow Main = LOVED, great flavor! I HATE when chow main noddles are super fat, these are thin and have great texture, they aren’t OVERLY soft like fast food Chinese. The veggies tasted great as well. Szechuan Beef = I ordered this very spicy and it was fantastic! The flavor was amazing. Loved the chopped garlic in this dish! This was one of our favorites for sure. Kung Pao Chicken = This was an average Kung Pao dish, nothing really stood out, but it wasn’t bad either. I would get it again though. Over all, I will DEFINITELY be coming back and trying other dishes here. I highly recommend!

We ordered through Doordash as this place was rated so highly. We have our favorite place but we don’t always want to go to Cupertino. Food was okay. Greaser than what we are used to, not as flavorful and just blah. We didn’t save the leftovers which is not typical for us.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was a child and it is always amazing. Came here last night with my family(12 people) we were quickly sat and warmly greeted. Jimmy was our waiter and he was a delight, very nice, and super attentive. Will continue to come here for years to come

Let me start by saying that I do not usually get food poisoning. I eat out a lot and even when I travel out of the country and eat at obscure street stalls with flies galore my stomach is fine. So I’ve always felt safe eating out because, odds are, there is no restaurant out there with enough bacteria in their food to poison my experienced«iron clad» stomach. Hong’s Gourmet beat these odds. I had had nothing to eat all day so I decided to have some Hong’s Gourmet for lunch. I ordered a schezuan chicken and stir fried green beans The first problem I had with Hong’s was the taste of their food. The chicken was stringy and the sauce on it was gelatinous and cloyingly sweet. The beans were over salted and oozed so much grease that each time I bit down they spurted out oil, like salty gushers. I can handle bad food, I’ve eaten a lot of bad food in my lifetime. I generally just chalk it up to the chef having a bad day in the restaurant’s kitchen and move on. But not only did this food taste bad, it felt bad. Immediately after I ate the food I felt nauseous, and one hour after I experienced, for the first time in my life, a food poisoning attack. Forgive the gory details, but I was uncontrollably vomiting nonstop for half an hour. It was terrible, my throat was burning as if the fury of Satan himself had had ascended up from my stomach. You may ask, how do I know that Hong’s food was the culprit? Like I mentioned before, I ate Hong’s for brunch so it was the only meal of my day and the only meal which I threw up after. If you value your loved ones, sanity, and property keep yourself and your family far away from Hong’s gourmet. If not, be sure to buy a lot of Clorox along with your meal to clean out what remains of your bathroom.

I think people who are calling this«Authentic Chinese Food» don’t know what real Chinese food is and the history of how Chinese immigrants changed their cuisine to fit American tastes. So, is it authentic Chinese-American food? Yeah I’d go with that. Because it’s close to home and it’s one of the only chinese food restaurants in the Saratoga area, I think it has more of a nostalgia effect on people: nice servers and hearty, salty, savory dishes. But in terms of quality, I’d say it’s average. The rice pancakes for the mushu pork were soon stale and cold, which bothered me. They cracked as you folded them, and had a weird thick paper taste. The wontons were boring and cold. BBQ pork fried rice was good. The Lobster sauce shrimp was salty, but still tasty. And Lemon chicken was alright. I just felt like everything was way more expensive than the quality they were serving. Also, they moved the pick-up to the back of the restaurant… which as a customer, may not be the most appetizing thing. It’s a little gross and had a couple flies buzzing around. I just really didn’t want to see that before eating food from the place.

I think maybe the food deserves only two stars… but the waiter was just so dang nice! He was super insistent on our happiness! Our water glasses and iced tea glasses stayed full the entire time, he said please and thank you more times than I could count. The restaurant could use a bit of a good dusting too. I don’t think we will come back here again. :/
