A small bar/grille on the corner. The outdoor seating was nice. I got the long lesson farm burger, which comes on a croissant bun, which is pretty great. I also tried the grilled cheese, which was very good as well. We got the poutine fries which weren’t quite as good as I was hoping, but I’m not really a gravy person so no complaints there. I would definitely go again if I’m in the area, and maybe try a couple of the beverages.

Very good atmosphere. Love the beers and fries. I just wish they had more vegetarian options.

This is a great local place to eat. Lovely out side seating(front and back). Ordered the poutine as an appetizer(it was big enough to feed 4 people). They offer a Brunch menu on the weekends as well as the regular menu. This is definitely a place to sit and have a beer or food and relax. This is a must try. In the Saratoga art district that is disappearing.

Love the atmosphere and the concise but ever-changing tap list, and I’ve always been happy with the pub fare as well. This is by far the closest feel to a true English pub — while having a bit more of a modern/Adirondack type feel. I’ve tried a number of other places that are trying to emulate the higher-end-pub feel, and none seem to get it like the Local. Also, the little patio area out back is really cool in the summer. As others have said, almost the antithesis of the bars downtown — completely chill and perfect for a pint and a conversation.

Such a great alternative to downtown Saratoga where we haven’t found a good brew pub yet. The Beekman Arts District is a hidden gem that every small town neighborhood should resemble. The LOCAL Brew Pub really delivers in the important Trio of fun atmosphere, huge on tap selection, and fresh food. The soup special was Chili which was light and tasty. The fish and chips are the BEST we’ve had anywhere! The fish was one huge piece, instead of little nuggets and the fries are fresh-cut and just perfection. Cole slaw was a perfect side. The Winter Session and Green Tea Beers were quite tasty. The house Chardonnay wasn’t bad for a Brew Pub either. We sat at the bar where the stools were super comfy with back rests and the bartender fun and attentive. The place was hopping at 1:30pm on a Saturday. We’ll return for sure.

Best place to go to in Saratoga. Service and staff are very pleasant and accommodating. If you haven’t been here yet, why the delay? A real gem in a city known for its treasures, this is the best. Just remember, you get what you pay for — some pricing elsewhere is better, but the ambiance and experience is worth every penny. You will not soon forget the experience, trust me! If you aren’ t sure of its location, ask any local resident, they will surely know the way!

The ambiance and food was fine. Service was good. Down side was that at 12pm on a Saturday we were told we needed to order off of the brunch menu. We had chosen this location for lunch because of the awesome Lunch Menu posted on their website. What a let down. Again it was good, but just not a lunch place I guess.

This place is confusing… Great ambiance and seemingly great menu. Ordered short rib nachos and they came smothered in sour cream which was not mentioned on the menu. Sent back and received new ones, then we order a burger done medium rare, heavier on the rare. The burger came out well done. Good beers but the food is nothing worth holding out for unless you have low standards. Went here previously and also had a bad experience. Tried to give them a redeeming chance and they let me down again. Below average bar food.

You don’t have to be a local to enjoy the food here! The Local Pub & Teahouse has a true English pub feel, with a large selection of craft beers and signature hot teas as the highlights of what often draws a crowd here, but the food is unfortunately far from memorable. Granted, nothing about«pub food» has ever truly impressed me, but I had higher hopes for this local pub with its unique menu selections. I ordered their seasonal butternut squash soup, and I’ve honestly tasted better soup out of the can. The salad selections are varied and generously portioned, but their creamy house balsamic vinaigrette is my number one pick, as I’m still trying to cleverly discover the ingredients to this delicious dressing. Their signature fish and chips dish is my wife’s favorite, and she has been more than happy every time with its preparation and flavor. Their burgers are average at best, but they do give you a lot of options for toppings. The«one eye burger» is my first choice for brunch. I sometimes order the bangers & mash, as the sausage has a warm kick I crave in the colder months. They have excellent choices for draft beers, and their seasonal craft beers are always highlighted on the chalkboards behind and above the bar. Their selections for organic tea are excellent, and are the perfect way to warm up in the winter months during brunch. They’re extremely popular and busy for Sunday brunch, and serve some of the best Bloody Mary’s in town.(So I’ve heard) I’ll often be found at The Local Pub & Teahouse for Sunday brunch or at the bar for an oatmeal stout, and when their mediocre food is more consistent and on par with their friendly English pub atmosphere, I’ll become a regular. See you there!

Last call before band even starts. Smart business. 8 taps 5 are shitty Sam Adams or coors. 5 bottle selections. Guinness and twisted tea among them. ATM has a $ 3+ charge. $ 10 min on cards at the bar. Actual locals won’t even go to the local.

Location– Right in town, so it’s close enough to all the action. Inside Décor– Nothing special. Kind of like a country bar, meets the Renaissance Festival, minus all the weaponry, insignias and chevron’s. Outside Decore– Much better outside. Warm, inviting and lighted by the kind of almost Christmas lights, that make you feel like you’re at a quasi-artsy, backyard party. Service– The waitress was very nice. Bubbly, without being fake and made no mistakes. Everything moved a bit slow, but that might’ve been due to the fact that she seemed to be the only one serving somewhere around eight tables. The Food– Rated on a scale of 1 to 5 Presentation–(2) Average to above average for pub food. What we ate– The Reuben–(2) This was not the worst I’ve had, but it was certainly nowhere near the best. The bread, which was of decent quality was not burnt, but a little dark for my taste. The corn beef was dry and a bit bland. I’m not a fan of overly sour sauerkraut and this was pretty sour. This may have been offset by a bit more Russian, which I wouldn’t of minded. The fries looked to be homemade and were not bad, salted just right and not sickly greasy. The Chicken & Apple–(1) Too much roll, too little of what dry chicken there was and not enough sauce to balance out the flavor of a few thinly sliced green apples. What we drank– Sangria–(2) I had really been craving a good sangria and this outing made me long for a proper mix, all the more. Very small with no real flavor and only a slab of orange to anchor it.

So worth it! Great poutine(even if it didn’t have cheese curds), great beer selection! They didn’t bring a few items that were listed on the appetizer that had the egg salad and salmon, but I asked for the capers and goat cheese and she brought it immediately. I’ll be going back!

Been here twice. Once for brunch and once for dinner. Food is average. Place is small so expect a wait. But the worst part of this place is the service. Both at brunch, behind the bar, and for dinner. It’s consistent: Slow. Incompetent. And I just don’t think the servers care. 45 minute wait for eggs. Then when they bring your dish they don’t bring utensils. And they come back and refill your coffee but no utensils after you’ve asked twice. Spill stuff on the Table and you, like water, beer. then wipe the table up but don’t give you extra napkins for your shirt/pants that are wet. Good concept of a restaurant, just the service is horrible.

My boyfriend is from Saratoga, so whenever I make the trip back with him I beg him to go here for lunch/dinner/drinks with me. I’m all about laid back dining experiences. Ones where you can hear your friends speaking to you and you can enjoy a nice beer; so this place hits the nail on the head for me. The layout of the restaurant is long and narrow, with small outdoor seating areas in the front and the back. They have a nice sized menu, on the larger side, I’d say. A good selection of food for carnivores and vegetarians alike. The burgers are good, the nachos are the best nachos ever. The portions here are also pretty generous. Like the food menu, the beer menu is awesome and they always have some interesting choices. I can’t speak to liquor or wine selections, as I’ve never gotten those here. The prices are a little steep, but, a) so are many places in Saratoga, and b) the food is always great, so I don’t mind the extra dollar or two. Service has always been very good. The waitresses and waiters are always speedy, attentive, and make a habit of checking back often. I only go(maybe) three times a year, so my review may not be representative of how The Local is all of the time, but they’ve always been great for me on my sporadic touristy visits.

I have eaten here before which was great. Today only pints on the deck. I had to go to the bar myself as apparently waitress didn’t think it was her role to get drinks, only food. We had to go get the waitress so our friends could order. Always a soccer game on the TV which is a plus!

Been wanting to try this place for awhile! So my birthday weekend was the perfect opportunity. You walk in, soon find out it’s seat-yourself. Which I would honestly prefer; booth for me, please! The menu is unique, the beers are too: both, equally delish. I am a Blue Moon fan, so I asked my waitress what on draft would be equivalent. She came back with a shot glass filled with her recommendation. It was perfect. The environment is consistant with«pub-style» ambiance. Overall, I really enjoyed my time and would definitely come back! (Only recieving 4 stars because the prices are a little steep, $ 45 for lunch for two)

I’ve visited this place probably more than any other in Saratoga without writing a review. Several of my friends love it, so I wondered if I was missing something. The other day I finally decided I had to say something. The good: it’s a very pleasant environment both inside and out, if you find yourself on Beekman Street and want to have a drink or food. The bar’s a very pleasant and intimate setup, good to watch sports, knowledgeable and skilled barkeeps. The bad: the food. Well, hardly«bad» and it’s prepared as described but the menu is just not very imaginative. The other day I was there with my kid and I had the burger and he the kids meal. The meat on the burger was good, it had the typical squishy potato bun, but the accessories were very limited: lettuce, tomato, onion, choice of dijon or a really sticky sweet honey mustard, cheese for 50 cents extra. Pickle? Nope. This in an era where everybody at a comparable price point is serving ground short rib, pickled Vidalia onions, house ground mustard etc etc. I don’t need raised pinky food but least give me some choices so I can customize it to my taste. Accompanying fries were extremely average, fortunately rescued by the malt vinegar on the table. My kid ordered the chicken fingers because he was already getting«nacho chips» on the side so mac and cheese would be cheese overkill, but actually there’s no cheese on the nacho chips, WTF? Also, the beer selection is broad but not deep. You can get something you will tolerate whether you’re an IPA or Belgian or Porter/Stout drinker but it’s all very predictable. I can’t imagine making this my regular beer bar like all the people with hanging mugs. Finally, there’s the Booth of Death in the far back corner behind the bar. It rocks back and forth and once you get in you can’t get out without nearly knocking over the table immediately next to you. Don’t ever let them seat you there.

Located in the Arts district of downtown Saratoga Springs, NY, The Local Pub and Teahouse(known as The Local by the locals) can be found at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Beekman Street. This is a very quaint and relaxed English and Irish pub /tavern located in a three-story stone building. The Local opens early for breakfast /early lunch on the weekends, but is primarily a lunch, dinner, late evening neighborhood pub serving traditional English and Irish specialties with a unique selection of craft beers and organic teas from around the world. The Local features a variety of food options; ranging from«poutine» fries, chicken wings, Bangers and Mash, and Shepard’s Pie to a wide variety of healthy tea sandwiches and a large selection of fresh salads. I would refer to their menu as classic pub style comfort food with most of the food options priced from $ 6 to $ 10 with a daily dinner special ranging from $ 11-$ 15. We were there for brunch, and so I ordered the Irish Open which was an english muffin topped with two over easy eggs, melted cheddar, hash, tomatoes, and a slice of ham, served with homefries. Since this a teahouse I also ordered a pot of Four Biggies tea which is an exotic blend of silver needle white, long leaf Asian green, green rooibos and yerba mate. My Dad opted for a cup of homemade soup and then the Welsh Rarebit which was served in the traditional style of toasted house bread topped with a Worcestershire stone ground mustard cheese sauce(see photo). I felt my arteries clogging just looking at it, but I couldn’t resist a slice, and decided that it was damn tasty. If you’re a regular at The Local you can buy your own mug which is hung above the bar to be able to take advantage of weekly beer specials and theit annual«Mug Club Party».
