Why is it that nobody takes the trouble to review McDonald’s? Is it because the food is so consistent, there’s no reason to talk about it? Then read what I have to say. I actually used to be a semi-fan of McDonald’s. I never thought it was«good» but it was good for what it was. I particularly liked the dollar menu and have ordered a few items when my kids forced me to pull in here and are gorging on poor choices.(As you can see, I’m a very forceful role model as a dad.) But something has changed in the past year or so. The food has changed from okay/amusing to absolute sh*t. I got a coupon pack in the mail and decided to revisit the iconic Big Mac.(2 for 1) The result looked like it had been assembled by somebody dumpster diving. A small cardboard box with a random assortment of grey meat and tossed together condiments and squishy bun with random bits of lettuce everywhere. I don’t particularly like the«special sauce» and with its caloric payload and my 2-for-1 coupon I decided I would have one of my BMs the way i prefer my burgers, with mustard substituting for 1000 island dressing. Disaster. Turns out the sauce is the lubricant which makes the whole thing edible. My mustard BM had just a measly squirt of the yellow stuff and the rest of the burger was so dry I actually had trouble getting it down. I read the financial papers. I know that Mickey D is on the ropes. A number of $ 5 – 10 «refined fast food» places are eating the clown’s lunch with better ingredients, prep and surroundings. McDonald’s management seems to have made a calculated decision to focus on that segment of the population that does not care about what it eats or how it is prepared or tastes. If that’s you, be my guest. i will no longer be that person/car in front of you deciding what to order. P. S. This is a review of today’s McDonald’s in general and I feel a little bad unloading on my particular spiffy establishment though to be fair they did assemble the food described above; nobody forced them to do it other than the customer.

This McDs looks like it is straight from Back to the Future. Plasma screens and wood veneers and stainless steel inside, interesting textures mixed with space and shapes make this an actual café. This is going to sound crazy, but I would actually hang out there. I had an all American egg McMuffin(they really are good) and orange juice. I found an unopened copy of the Wall Street journal and tucked into a quick breakfast. It’s Mcdonalds food and that is whatever that is but the space itself is pretty cool.
