I agree with the reviewer below in that the room is kind of pricey for what you are getting(although we were here during the flurry dance festival which meant all the other hotels were sold out so I’m sure the price was inflated for that reason) but we were happy enough with our one night stay. My bf got the upgraded package? which I believe meant we got the newer rooms. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, they had good soft sheets and an extra warm blanket, the shower was fine, and it was very peaceful and quiet. The room also had a television, microwave and mini fridge, cute artwork and a very homey vibe. Basically, it’s true to the pictures on the birches motel website. The only complaint I would give is that the internet was spotty and the paths were not shoveled /plowed. In the morning we got vouchers to get a breakfast sandwich(eggs, bacon and cheese or eggs, ham and cheese) along with a coffee or tea at a deli/corner store just up the block. As for the location of this motel, it’s just across the street from a cvs pharmacy, which was very convenient since we had to go and get cough medicine for my bf. It’s also about 2 miles or 10 minutes to the city center.

If the room was only $ 50 or so a night I would have been okay with what I was getting. But for $ 89 a night I felt totally ripped off. Cons:The room had not been remodeled, dusted, or even thoroughly cleaned since 1979. Sometimes a dated décor can have a charm to it, but not this(fake wood panneling, old tiling, old carpeting)…the place did not feel too clean(old musty smell, lots of dust, cobwebs), we weren’t able to get wifi, old crappy cheap furniture, only a double bed, and when I checked under the bed to make sure I did not leave anything I saw old candy wrappers under the bed and tons of dust… I almost started gagging. Pros: free deli breakfast sandwiches for breakfast were super delicious; sheets, pillowcases, and even the blankets seemed clean; pillows and bed were super comfortable; towels were clean; the owner(Don) was very nice and hospitable. It was a decent location in Saratoga, but to charge this much for a crappy motel room that’s not even located downtown… I would definitely not stay here again.
