I was hesitant to eat here because of the few old Unilocal reviews that I read, but I am so glad that I ignored the reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious!!! The quality of the food really surprised and impressed me. We stayed at the hotel for a few days and ate from this grill for lunch, dinner, and room service on different days. Food was well cooked, plentiful, and tasty(food we tried: nachos, chicken quesadilla, corn crab bisque, crispy chicken salad, chicken Caesar salad, and sirloin steak with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes). Service was absolutely wonderful too! I would definitely eat here even if I weren’t staying at the hotel.

This review is for the food only.. Didn’t have many options as I worked late and was tired.. So, I decided to give to hotel bar a try.. This is located inside the holiday inn. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a side ceasar. First off, the silverware I was given was filthy. The fork had a curly black hair on it that seemed like it was glued to it. The ceasar salad was decent but the chicken sandwich was utterly disgusting.. The first bite I took was that grisly tendin type bite that you always hope you don’t get when you order chicken. then after I spat it into a napkin I noticed the chicken was a little pink and very watery.. I told the bartender but he didn’t seem to care much as he was very busy and did not remove it from my bill. I will never eat here again even if it was free. Come herw for drinks and nothing else. Jay makes good strong drinks and is friendly and helpful. I give him 4 stars for his service but iam jusy rating the food experience.

Not much«News» to report on the Sporting News Grill. Decent food, decent buffet, friendly service and a very convenient location(my hotel lobby). I’ve dined here about a dozen times due to the hotel being the hotel of choice of one of my clients. They have a decent breakfast buffet and an okay menu. I normally have special orders which they only mess up about 1 times in 4, which considering the prices and the seemingly stressed waiting staff I’m not surprised. There are two parts to ‘the grill’ — a bar and a restaurant. The sports part of the sporting news grill is the bar. The bar has some big screens with sports on. I haven’t spent much time in this part and, by the looks of it, not many people do. The restaurant part has several booths and tables and not many tv’s so wouldn’t call it a place to watch sports. They have a regular menu and a breakfast buffet. Buffet is decent. The menu items are fairly limited and the quality mediocre, but the prices are cheap. A filet is about $ 21 as of this writing. Unfortunately the tables are often times messy and unclean. I feel like the restaurant is either understaffed or poorly managed. The servers are friendly enough, but I feel like they are always stressed. The greatest thing this establishment has going for it is the location. I fear that if they were to move outside the hotel that they wouldn’t do well unless they made some significant changes.

Normally this place has really good food. I tried their crab cake sandwich two weekends ago on a Saturday afternoon — it was great. So, went there this last Sunday and wanted the same thing. What a difference two weeks made. The crab cake was bland, over cooked and just tasted completely different. Appeared to have more filler than anything. Do different people prepare the food on weekends?
