Rico’s Pizzeria

I have ordered at least 10 times delivery only bc I can’t find anywhere else. They have messed up the order every time. I asked for a steak sub with lettuce tom. And mayo. They take a roll put steak on top and what looks to be a salad. Can’t pick it up. Asked for mayo and got packets!!! The manager has an attitude too. Stay away from this place
The attitudes of the young girls here are the worst I’ve ever seen. Obviouse ownership doesn’t care that they have the absolute rudest staff I’ve seen in the 3 years I’ve lived here. Apparently ownership doesn’t care, because I see the same reviews about this place over and over.
WARNING: this is not even close to an Italian eatery.

I heard good things about Rico’s. So I tried it out. The pizza was okay. Not amazing not terrible. The prices are a little high. I’m a five minute walk for Rico’s but the forty-​fine minute to hour long delivery time I was quoted means it’s quicker to pick it up.
However the service is uniformly terrible. I’ve been there three times in the three month before this review was written and each time the experience was unpleasant. I’ve talked to a few different friends about local pizza and when it came to Rico’s they seem to have had the same experience. Middle of the road pizza and unfriendly service.
Update: Shortly after leaving this review I received a private message from «Rico’s Management» the message read:

Although I appreciated this message. The same account that was used to send this message, also left Rico’s not one but TWO 5-​star reviews… I find this to be incredibly dishonest. This practice also violated Unilocal’s guidelines… which state that «You may not review a business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees.»

We have ordered a few times and each time it has gotten worse. The staff is rude and/​or clueless, our order has been wrong every time and it isn’t that good. Disappointed as it used to be much better.

I’m waiting to see that this place has gone out of business. Don’t give your money to someone who doesn’t appreciate it, these vagrants are disrespectful and not worthy of your hard earned money. There are 3 phenomenal pizza restaurants close by that know how to treat customers I rate you a big fat ZERO!!!

I have had a hard time finding good pizza in Sarasota. I can tell you that I think I finally found it at Rico’s! This was a great pizza, great sauce and classic taste. The sauce wasn’t sweet, the dough is a perfect combination of soft and crispy. Even the restaurant smelled soooooo good. This place is a bar type restaurant with TVs and sit down service. They serve more than just pizza. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. Again… This review is more about the pizza. I loved it!

I was hung up on at the end of giving my order, they messed up my order and were 45 minutes late. When I called to inquire on where my order was, they were absolutely rude. Don’t spend your money or time here!!!

We have been customers for 15 years and sadly to say, boy have they changed!
15 Years ago I was blown away by the sauce, it was close to mama’s.
The cheese was good back then too, not great but they cared.
Now, it’s no better than any other pie place out there and my wife is done dealing
with the rude girls on the phone.
The sauce has been altered, no more fresh tomatoes, must be canned.
I make my own sauce and I know the difference.
The cheese is now horrible, so salty and greasy it makes you not want to eat it.
The dough was ALWAYS fresh, now they are using cheaper ingredients, yesterdays
batch or just forgot how its done. It’s always tough and thick, not what I want.
I used to look forward to eating their food and we spent a LOT of money there over
the years.

Haven’t been to ricos for quite a while and now I remember why. I ordered a pizza with a little xtra sauce which usually isn’t a problem at other places but they put a lot of sauce on top after making the pie which on the way home slid off the pie with all the toppings. Never had a problem elsewhere. I also always get the pizza not cut so it can be warmed up on a stone in my oven but there was so much sauce that the crust wouldn’t get crisp and cook fully. I ended up throwing it out. They also charged me an xtra 2.00 for the sauce which I have never been charged for elsewhere. What a waste of 16 bucks. If u want a good pizza go to Francesco’s on Beneva and Webber, or Il Panificio.

Well we had heard good things about the pizza so we offered a pizza and salads
while we were waiting for our food the phone was ringing constantly with this annoying loud ring that echoes the whole place. Why doesn’t someone answer the Phone? Not that busy! Horrible ring
that ruins the whole atmosphere.
As for the pizza its average at best!

Sarasota is my hometown, and honestly I CRAVE this pizza all the way across the country. This places makes proper New York style pizza, and they make it fresh and fast. The margherita pizza is my favorite, but honestly every one is a good pick.

Decidedly marginal pizza, there are much better options in town. There is not much flavor at all — you know when you are reaching for the salt, pepper, cheese, red peppers to give it some taste… That’s saying something. Won’t come back.

I’m only rating this place one star because you have to. The pizza here is decent at best, the service is hands down the absolute worst. I don’t know where the owner finds these people. I’ve been here a hand full of times so these are not isolated incident. I’ve had to get up and find my waitress, ask several times for a drink refill, ask for menus. I mean being a server at a pizza place is not rocket science here people. It’s just crazy to me how you can mess this job up and be so incredibly rude at the same time.

Delicious gluten free pizza crust. I got the vegan pizza with daiya cheese and arugula on top. It’s not listed online but they have it and it’s good!

Worst pizza… jarred garlic, fried eggplant with no eggplant, tasteless ricotta… Greek salad called Greek salad because they threw on feta… with balsamic dressing… horrible waste of money…

Who the hell puts Cannoli filling in Zeppoles? If you don’t know how to make them and don’t sell them say it from the beginning don’t just make it how ever you think it should be and then tell me that’s how we do it here all the time. Don’t say I know what it is I can make it for you if you know know the simples of desserts.

Great stuff. But you guys can’t take a delivery order at 8:15 pm? A little early to stop.

Great Lunch special two cheese slices of pizza and a canned soda for $ 5.99. Dine in so tipping needs to be added but a great deal. Pizza is crusty and tasty. Place is jammed with blue collar mechanics from neighboring car dealers. Some friends and local single diners like myself. Good spot for lunch.

I love their pizza. The taste is basically the best I’ve had in Sarasota. It is tough to find good pizza out here, but this one is definitely worth going to. Also, the salads are very good and large. The décor is slightly outdated, but I don’t care. Just keep shoveling the delicious food toward me. Lastly, you have got to try the sausage pizza and the grilled chicken pizza. If you are fans of those two, you’ll love them.

It’s worthy of a bookmark! Come here for the home style comfort food and friendly service. Pizza and pasta are winners, while salad is «meh». Clean, consistent and truly a family business run wit love. Limited beer and wine selections, but who needs fancy with pizza THIS good?

Its a good pizza for the money, last time we came the crust tasted a little soapy and I was put off, but this time it was much better.
