We went to Mattison’s Forty One last night — our last night in Sarasota. As a table of two, we ordered an appetizer — the Shrimp Rangoon. The small was $ 9 and the large was $ 14. We weren’t asked which size we wanted but assumed we would get the small for only two of us. We were served 4 fairly large shrimp, dinner and drinks. Everything was good but not fabulous. We got our check and my husband handed over his credit card without reviewing the check — that was a mistake!!! We were charged for not ONELARGE appetizer but TWO!!! We paid $ 28 for 4 shrimp. Be CAREFUL at this restaurant!!!

What are you looking for in a dining experience? If walking around multiple walkers to reach your table for a six o’clock seating and waiting for forty two minutes whilst listening to the piano man(ala Bill Murray in his 1970’s lounge lizard act with SNL) to get your very first beverage of the evening is your idea of a good dining experience, then this place is for you! The food is adequate, but not special by any means. Do not confuse this Mattison’s with the one downtown. My bad for doing so!!!

Went here for lunch. The food was below average. The service was worst than that. Very poor. Expensive. Will not return.

Came here for a surprise birthday party for a family friend. We had the back private room. We had a bartender who made great drinks and was very friendly. As for food we had a great spread for appetizers with cheese and meats, fruit and olives. For dinner we had plated salads that were good but nothing really special, then we had a buffet. It would have been nice if the buffet was labeled or if the person at the carving station knew what was being served. The main entrees were ok but not a good a the spread of appetizers.

Called ahead and phone rang once. Knew this was going to be good. Made a reservation, seated right away even though we were early. Waitress Anna Marie was excellent. Quick, not too invasive, and knowledgable. Ordered and got food before one drink was gone. Both of us had the grouper with zucchini strings and tomato risotto with pancetta sauce. AMAZING!!! We are super picky. We have been known to go from our hometown of Phoenix to las Vegas just for good food! We heard the chef here was from Summerhouse(delish!) and thought we’d give it a try. Fish was cooked to perfection, zucchini was fresh and crisp, while the tomato risotto was to die for! THEN we has the pineapple upside down cake with coconut gelato. Hello!!! Amazing calling!!! So so good!!! As a side note, the crowd here was«retiree age»(we are a generation younger)…but the atmosphere with the live 2-man band(singing Sinatra and Neil Diamond) kept the energy high and fun. We WILL be back and you should too! Ask for our server. She was great!!!

Absolutely stellar from start to finish. I’m rarely in Sarasota, but when I am I make a point to have dinner at Mattison’s. I’ve been twice, and both times everything couldn’t have been better. Quick seating, amazing service and every dish is just excellent. Make sure to try the Peanut Butter Pyramid for dessert. It’s life changing. You must go.

We’ve had dinner here and were satisfied with food and service. Went for Mothers’ Day brunch and it was extremely disappointing. Seating was ridiculously crammed. Tried to seat our party of 7 at a four top and then the next table could only accommodate 5. I sat in the aisle between tables to squeeze in. Food was uninspired and there was a disappointing lack of variety. Next year’s Mothers Day brunch will definitely be somewhere else.

Returned for a meal after an absence several years and I guess I should have waited a bit longer to return. W had reservations, but stood by the hostess stand for 15 min. while she finished her phone conversation. The waitress was friendly, but inattentive. Pretty much everything we ordered came out wrong — was it her fault, the kitchen’s or the servers delivering the food — I don’t know and I don’t care. By the end of the meal, I wished we had gone across the street to Culver’s for a burger and fries.

Mattisons 41 grossly overpriced. Good but not worth the money. Service was very good as was dinner but too expensive.

Five of us had dinner at Mattison’s 41 on Saturday, February 21. the two children were starving when we arrived and we asked the waitress to please bring bread for them right away. She did, and that was the last of the decent service. The food was good, not exceptional, but the service was abominable! We waited and waited and waited for our dinners. In addition to this, the waitress was quite impatient and almost rude when we expressed concern with the delay. I told the manager about the problem afterwards and he was polite and seemed to care, but we won’t go back.

We usually love this place but had to write about our last visit. We were left in waiting area for about an hour, not once did a host check on us. When we approached the hostesses at that time they were very rude stating no one had indicated we were waiting. We were rushed to a table too small for our group and never apologized to nor a visit from host. We approached host later to express what a bad experience had been had(our waiter was very good though) and he stared blankly apologized and made no indication to make things right. This has been in complete opposite to our previous experiences! This was the crew on staff Christmas evening 2014. The hosts: Two older blonde women one darker haired woman and one young man with glasses could certainly benefit from a refresher on true Mattisons customer service. We will try again another time but hope not to have this experience repeated.

It was for my birthday dinner. My daughter and I had the prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin and it was very good. I changed my sides since I’m not a fan of polenta. She liked the polenta and I liked my sweet potato streusel. My husband had the sea bass dish and was very satisfied. Of course, we splurged with wine and dessert and left happy campers! Dessert was crème brulee(our favorite) and bread pudding. The waiter was very attentive.

Granted we went on Christmas Eve … The good: The appetizers where very good. We ordered the Shrimp Rangoon and the Artichokes, both where hot and very good. The bad: Our service was pretty poor. We did not see our waiter often, and our wine glasses were empty, even though we were ordering $ 12/glass wine The ugly: We ordered the $ 42 seafood special, the first course was cold and the third course was in-edible. I wish I would have heard Gordon Ramsey in the background yelling«you donkeys, did you even taste this risotto.» We mentioned to the waiter that the risotto was a gelatinous clump of crap and he should not serve it to any other guests. We did not hear back from a manager, and the hostess was busy at the bar chatting to the other restaurant workers and did not acknowledge us when we left. I would have expected more from a restaurant that charges $ 250 per check for a family of 5. This is the first and last time I will go to Madison’s 41.

Lunch, October 10th, some thoughts… Compared to other restaurants in the area it was less crowded which might be an indicator of the comments that follow… — House special slaw had an unusual taste and not desirable. — Steak and cheese sandwich is made with Brie cheese which is unique and not a good blend. — $ 3.00 per glass of soda — good grief — Caesar Salad with chicken tasted fishy even though it did not have anchovies. — Members of our party found the large sketches of naked women in dining room were inappropriate. + Ladies room was clean. — Limited menu choices when you get right down to it. Very unlikely we would come back.

I always enjoy the Mattison’s downtown. Great service, creative menu, great food and a great music and dance scene. Drive right by Mattison’s 41 and go on to Main Street. Horrible service, mediocre food. Just skip it.

We went to Mattison’s Forty-One last night because I had earned a $ 25 coupon for donating blood. Thanks Mattison’s for being such a community blood bank supporter. We didn’t know what to expect but had heard good things about this restaurant. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. We were shown to a table for four(there were just 2 of us) and it was nice to see the host stop the bus girl from taking the extra placesettings off the table until after we were seated. This is a pet peeve of mine… let me choose where I want to sit and then remove the tablewear. The menu is a manageable size with a few specials. Most entrees have two prices and when I inquired about this I was told that the entrees come in a large and smaller size. Very nice. I’m not all about taking leftovers home that generally get thrown away. My husband chose the french onion soup and prime rib and I had the caeser salad and filet with lobster. The soup was one of the best french onion soups he has ever had. It was even easy to eat too because the cheese was not one big hot glob but rather something that you could eat gracefully. The prime rib was cooked perfectly. My husband didn’t care for the spices along the edge but I took a taste and thought they were good. My salad and filet with lobster were cooked perfectly. The beef and lobster made a nice combination. The lobster wasn’t in a shell so it was very easy to eat. There was a 40th birthday party on the other side of the divider which made it a little noisy but it was fine, we could still talk. One rude party goer kept coming on our side of the divider to take his phone calls… really, take that outside, please. I know we will return to this lovely restaurant. Thank you again for supporting the regional blood bank.
