The food was great, but the service was mediocre. The first person who served us wasn’t our waitress. I totally understand her being tied up, but she was tied up all evening. We only saw her three times. The first time she needed to refill my drink, she just left a pitcher at the table. My wife ordered the Blackened Mahi Tacos and loved them. However, after a few bites she wanted more of the chipotle aioli, but it took our waitress around 15 minutes after the food had come out to get to our table. I will say the gentleman with the goatee was great! He made sure that we were taken care of. He’s one of the reasons that I’m giving this a 3 and not a 2 or 1.

Madfish Grill is one of my favorites in Sarasota — I go every time I’m in town. They have wonderful food, even if you don’t like seafood. I’d especially recommend the Mexican/quesadilla salad — it’s delightful. The staff is great, the place is always clean, service is speedy, they have great gluten free options, and a great selection of wines and beers. Their Sunday brunches are also fantastic and not very pricey!

Their gluten free menu is amazing, a lot to choose from. I had the seafood rice dish with creamy marinara type sauce and the flourless chocolate cake. My family loved all their dishes also. Our waitress was amazing and so helpful. I will defiantly return again when in Sarasota.

Happy hour is great! Plenty of options for both the seafood and meat lovers. The service can be spotty but they really try to get it right. The food is fresh and made on site. Excellent place to go with friends, family, or couples. The crowd is basically a local with snowbirds too. Best Cosmo in town!!!

Ate twice at this restaurant this summer: not too bad. Pros: level of noise was acceptable, second — cleaniness. Food was edible but nothing to brag about. Casual eating when do not want to drive far for the dinner.

Service was ok. 1 meal was good, the other not so. Was never asked how the food was. When not asked I assume they don’t care. I am a resident and try to patronize non-chains. Will skip this one in the future.

Madfish grill has a great gluten free menu, and they even accommodated my need to eliminate some tough, commonly used ingredients. The food was fresh, and truly delicious. It was yummy and gorgeously displayed(I should have taken a picture, but I don’t post every meal or drink)! My husband doesn’t have food limitations, and felt his meal was equally wonderful. We highly recommend.

We have been here several times and the food and service has always been excellent. I have found the almond crusted grouper I think it was to be exceptional. The seating and ambiance are both good.

The food here was delicious, the coconut chicken is my fave! Also try the mad pad Thai and the fried chicken mac and cheese… It’s really filling and you’ll need to work out about 6 hours a day, everyday for the rest of the month but it’s so worth it

Went there last evening, seated immediately, many open tables. A tv was on in the bar area and my husband could easily watch the playoff game while eating dinner. Our server brought water immediately and took our drink order, only ice teas. We ordered the chicken egg rolls to share as an appetizer, more than enough for 2. The guava dipping sauce was good. The egg rolls were good, not great. My husband had the fried clams, he said they were good, but has had better. But very few places have them in Sarasota so that was a big plus. I had the fish tacos with grilled grouper, not blackened. This might have been a mistake as the tacos were not spicy. The sauce that accompanied the tacos was okay, again not great. All in all our dinners were okay, my fish was fresh and my husband’s clams were as well. There is just no pizzazz here. Will I be back? Maybe, but I won’t rush back.

I’ve forgiven Madfish for the earlier reviews and continue to frequent the place at least once a month for lunch or dinner. The restaurant is one of the better options for seafood within a 5 mile range. The seafood is almost always delicious and prepared with talent. Most of the servers are very good, the bartenders are talented and generous, but I still find that the host or hostess doesn’t always know what’s going on. I’m also hesitant to bring a party of more than four. The bar is already full before 5:30 and the larger tables are few.

Completely overpriced for the quality of food that’s offered. I had the lobster cake which is $ 16.99 and it reminded me of a reheated frozen dinner. We also ordered the mad thai, trust me… Do not go there, the dish makes no sense and the ingredients that they say are in the dish are absent. Service was decent… Not impressed, wouldn’t go back or recommend this joint. I can’t understand why people like this and write positive reviews that mislead us hear… Bleh Here is your warning lovely people:) save your money.

I would never go back. Don’t waste your time here. High prices. Uninspired food. Dated décor. I’m serious, unless you are a local and can’t find a ride to another restaurant this trip will be a waste of money.

Needed a place midway between tampa and fort myers and close to 75. In a see of chains and fast food places, I found Mad Fish grille. So many mixed reviews for this place that I decided it’s probably a matter of taste and what is ordered. The ambiance is dark and a bit upscale but not in a snooty way. The service was great even though ours was a newby, he did an excellent job. Lots of seafood options obviously and also meats for you carnivores. I ordered the lobster fondue which came with bread. It tasted like a lobster bisque with nice size chunks of lobster. So so good, I would order this again. I kept the theme going with a lobster cake with wilted spinach and got the hollandaise on the side. Very good as well. My table mates enjoyed the fried chicken mac n cheese and burger with delicious onion straws atop. Don’t be afraid of the one and two star reviews, order what you like and make up your own mind. I’m glad that I did.

Eggplant fries awesome. Seafood Martinique can I say meaty, yes good portion. The Rainbow Trout always a good choice. Chrissy I hope I spelled it write was great she even told us how great the soup was. LOL Not. She was great. We will be back, I hope people would give this place a try like we did, it’s always nice to walk into a local place and not a chain food restaurant. Thank you for good food. O Gluten free too what a plus. Clean bathrooms another plus plus.

The most amazing thing about Madfish Grill is its popularity. I’ll admit I’ve been 3 – 4 times since it is near by and the atmosphere isn’t bad. All equally as bad. Tonight I returned the whole meal and went to Mattisons 41, you cant go wrong there. I ordered Tuna and was asked how I liked it cooked — Med rare was my reply. I got sliced pieces all cold as was the broccoli. And I dont mean luke warm. On top of that the fish had a peculiar flavor. I suspect it was left over pre-sliced out of the frig. No explanation given for temperature — just happy to take it back. I’ve given them enough chances. No more.
